I know everyone is going crazy about the Panther Clipper, but do you think there will actually be new ships in 2.1? If yes, which ones?
A lot of ships from older Elite games could be added to the game to add some diversity and fill some gaps, such as :
The other ships are not very interesting. Perhaps new designs would be appropriate for Alliance ships.
A lot of ships from older Elite games could be added to the game to add some diversity and fill some gaps, such as :
- Boa (Faulcon de Lacy)
Either slightly smaller than the Python (original Elite), or bigger than the Anaconda but visually similar (FE2), it is a slow but powerful trader ship.
2 x Huge (turreted only, like in FE2?) hardpoints, and the rest would depend on the size of the ship (medium or large).
Could be priced ~ 25 M credits if < Python, or ~ 250 M credits if > Anaconda - Constrictor (Faulcon de Lacy)
Basically the same as a Diamondback. - Gecko (Core Dynamics?)
A small ship akin to the Sidewinder with lots of different designs. Could be a poor poor man's Cobra. - Krait (Faulcon de Lacy)
A small and agile, but discontinued fighter. Could be found in low tech areas of the Bubble (perhaps on the blackmarket? Ships on the blackmarket would make sense to me). - Mamba (Faulcon de Lacy)
An extremely fast ship, mainly used for racing and piracy. Could be fitted by default with the "upgraded small ship drives" that were hinted in the newsletters. - Federal Falcon (Core Dynamics)
A powerful small fighter, that could be the in-between equivalent of the Imperial Eagle / Imperial Courier. Since the Federal Dropship starts at ~ 14 M, and the Imperial Courier is only ~ 2.5 M, it would make sense to have something to fill the gap. - Griffin (Lakon?)
About the same as a Type-9. - Imperial Explorer (Gutayama)
The biggest, slowest, most powerful Imperial ship (other than actual battlecruisers). Could be obtained at King rank (max Imperial navy rank), and set back a whopping 1 billion credits. Would perhaps use a Superlarge landing pad (external docking?). - Allied Merlin (Alliance manufacturer)
The entry-level ship of the Alliance! A bit more powerful than an Eagle, but less than a Viper or Cobra. Could be the Rank-0 ship. - Moray Starboat (Marine Trench Co.)
Perhaps a ship to land on water worlds... It's smaller and slower than a Cobra. - Panther Clipper (Zorgon Peterson)
The huge trader (> Type-9) everybody is crazy about, this one's pretty sure to make it into the game.
The other ships are not very interesting. Perhaps new designs would be appropriate for Alliance ships.
