WHOA WAIT... WHAT????

The first time it happened to me was when I jumped into a system and it was a White Dwarf. The intense gravity pulled me out of super-cruise and I was cooked while waiting for the FSD to restart. At least it wasnt a binary!

If you throttle down at the count down you can avoid that i guess.
Or maybe you get fried anyway. I have not encountered a white dwarf yet..

There's actually a white dwarf a few jumps away from the starter system (After looking it up, it was Ekuru I think). I found it the hard way. It was also the day I learned that I'm supposed to throttle down before jumping, lol. A newbie moment I quickly learned from.

My heart stopped beating for a second there when this happened...

oh and the stars deserved this a thousand fold.

To anybody it may concern. Be prepared for crap like that if you go exploring.

has anyone else encountered that?
That's the bronze medal for "Fried Explorer", time to work on the silver (three stars that close, very very rare, haven't found a true one myself), gold medal is exotic (multiple neutron/black hole frying you, I've only heard of a few finding this lovely place and surviving)

Entirely made up, but congrats!

Yeah you'll be fine if you throttle down. Black Holes arent actually all that dangerous.

Also, LOL at your reaction when you saw the other star. Classic, and I'd have done exactly the same. :D

I love it when peoples subconcious filters into what they are playing. I remember being at a friends house, trying to beat a platformer. We'd got to a tough section and were debating the best strategy to take, the guy with the controller turned the character towards whoever he was talking to LOL

How is it when you jump to a system with a black hole? Am i out of danger if i throttle down before the jump?

Initially, yes. But I learned when I jumped to my first black hole system (where the BH is the drop-in point) that it drops you so close to it, like 5Mm, that even throttled down you will be getting closer and closer to it. You'll see the distance from the black hole constantly getting smaller. You'll have enough time to scan it, but I didn't push it beyond that. I just spin my ship around and face away from it, or drop out of SC entirely to take screenshots or whatnot.

Other explorers might know more about it though, I'm not one to take risks at the moment. Still rocking that 100% hull :)

Yeah hahaha.. i was thinking "whats that one doing here??? I NEED to get away".

But good to know that, if you throttle down, you're out of danger. (Most of the time anyway).

Well yeah i know but the one star was behind me. As you kan see in the video, as i dropped in i flew through the first star. If you pause at the right moment you can see it. It happened so fast that i thought it was a graphic glitch...

Boy was i wrong.

First mistake was to jump into a system at too low speed. Second mistake was to point your ass at that second star; the engines heat up very quickly that way. You need to jump in at 25%, keep moving fwd whilst keeping the stars to your side.

Even if you get too close, the worst that'll happen is a tiny bit of heat damage. I may or may not have faceplanted the one at Maia :3

Why mistake? I turned my ship towards the shortest way out of this mess. Otherwise i would have had to fly a longer way to get to safety.
But you might be right. I'm new to exploration of that magnitude.

Yeh you have to be quick. The shortest route is not always the safest. The best route would have been to hug the star on the left and go around that one. It was the closest to you which was why it was a mistake to turn your back in it. That moment you saw the one on the left - you had a split second to change course. You get used to it though.

I certanly hope that i not have to get used to this situation. I prefer not to be in that situation again.:D
