Elite Dangerous in the Media thread

In the PC Gamer article there is deliberate mistake in the main picture of the space station - Can you spot it?

The image is reversed, so the Port Zelada text near the entrance is backwards... Had to look, didn't see it at first glance, well spotted.

Love this comment from the Techradar interview

'We hope Elite: Dangerous includes a planet called 'A r s e'* in tribute to the first game'

Some quotes from the PC Gamer article:
"There are over 100 billion star systems," Elite creator David Braben corrects me when I ask if that number could possibly be true. "In fact, it's closer to 400 billion. It's a very silly number anyway."

Made me think of Monty Python. "On second thoughts let's not go to Sol. T'is a silly place"

"There are different categories of missions. There are ones you actively get and accept. There are also things that can turn into missions. If you come across a shipwreck, there could be a lot of things behind it. You could search it and find something interesting, but it might be a trap. Or it might be that there is something very bad indeed there, whether its a disease that later gets spread, or something that's a threat to your ship."

A threat to your ship? Trumbles maybe? :D

It's gonna be interesting end of the month for the press,

Star Citizen Arena Commander on 29th of May.
Elite Dangerous Premiere Beta on 30th of May.

A new media piece over at Gamespot:

Oh, and there's an interesting video on that page talking about how do games "do" Hyperspace - the science vs the fiction (video is called Reality Check). They interview DB in it, and he talks about how ED handles the problem.

Wow, that's not wholly accurate is it? Not sure how they'd get those details wrong.

What are you referring to? The article or the video?

By Gamespot standards I think they did ok, they aren't really the shining beacon of gaming journalism after all. :p

The main think they seem to have messed up is this:

Alpha 4 significantly expands the single player portion of the game.

If you buy into the Premium Beta for the steep price $150, you’ll also get access to the multiplayer, which goes live on May 30

This seems to indicate that the game currently is only single player and that multiplayer is being launched for the first time and the end of the month.

The article. So very few lines but still details wrong. For instance, I can't recall the exact wording but doesn't he say that multiplayer will be added on the 30th?
