Gimballed - cheating/cheap, yay or nay?

Don't worry, I have something that'll either scare them off or make them even more dangerous!

Gary said that Horizons might look better on Xbox than on PC in some cases. [praise]

If this is the case all I ask is this, please PM me before you post screenies and vids in Dangerous Discussions.

I want to see it from the start and make sure I've got enogh popcorn.

Am I the only Xbone poster here? EEk. This is like Invasion of the Body Snatchers. You're all pod people!
Nah, I'm also a certified console peasant. I love the immediacy of console gaming, and the simplicity; if the XB1 or ED goes wrong, it's never, ever my fault... On PC? A billion and one things might throw a strop and I'd have no clue whether I had anything to do with it. ;-) If I had a dedicated gaming PC, then yeah, I'd prefer to play ED with a flight stick and a head tracking solution - maybe even VR. The framerate's mostly fine on XB1, but it's clearly not an overly good fps, per se.

Serious question, though; why do PC players slum it--- I mean, 'enjoy vacations' in the console boards? If you've had Horizons for months and are mulling over the possibility of Engineers content, then the Xbox variant of Elite is currently rather lacking.

You don't spend much time in the pc forums do ya. :p

They like a bit of rough.
Seriously though, if you spend time on the PC boards you'll soon understand why many PC players hang out here.
Totally agree with your view of console gaming. Have a theoretical rep. :(

I probably won't be posting pics in the DD. I've always posted my pics here in the screenshots thread.

Pretty sure he was comparing Xbox 2.1 to PC 2.0.

I've seen the beta screenshots. I really struggle to see how an Xbox will outperform my PC, given both platforms are receiving graphical upgrades.

No it isn't cheating. This week I have been mostly using fixed beams but gimballed cannons. Try targetting specific modules without gimballed weapons.
Totally right I still consider that by the end of the day what is going to give you victory in a fight is the tactics and control you have over your ship

Why is this thread even a thing? Fixed, Gimballed & Turrets all have their own pro's and Con's

Many of us know this, BUT it hasn't stopped some of us learning a thing or two along the way. I haven't watched any YouTube ED vids, and yet, despite not being a simpleton, I hadn't considered that simply de-targeting someone would basically make your gimballed weapons Fixed. Maybe let some discussions make their own way, even if it's all perfectly obvious to you. I feel perfectly confident in assuming you've been playing longer than me (Feb this year). But that's the sole point of a forum is for public discussion. Many ED players haven't yet educated themselves or stumbled across the pros and cons you take as self-evident. If this thread is so beneath your knowledge of the game then feel free to refrain from participating. I genuinely mean no offense to you but a forum is a place to contribute knowledge not pour disapprobation on those who don't have the luxury of your knowledge.

I think if the word, 'cheating' was not in the title of the thread, not many would have an issue with it. At the same time, the only real way to find anything out about this game; is to come here and become brain dead, sifting though the forums. 90%+ of what is here is dross, but every now and then, we find little gems of information. Normally, it is not what you are looking for at the time, but useful anyway.

Pretty much my point. I always encourage new CMDRs to get stuck in, because regardless of the title and the fact many of us know is a moot point, people (myself included) can learn from the general discussion - almost the exact definition of a forum.
