I guess that some smart people finally realize what's actually BDSSE stands for......
BEST DAMN SPACE SHOP EVER!!!
Beside this obvious conclusion is it anything worth of trying in the latest game release for the "us" who payed for the game but are not allowed to try it before the "chosen"citizens decide we can???

As far as I ever knew alpha access meant the first version before opened to public for beta testing the next step is release. So alpha access means the first version out side of internal employee only testing. So yes everyone should get it that has alpha access. To say the evocti or however you spell the damn word gets special alpha access is pure made up fiction on the part of CIG. On the other hand if they are paid then they are employees and this is still internal testing. Sorry but for them to have a special group of people testing the alpha version that should be available to all. If they want to say pre-alpha hell everything they released was at some point by a lot of people championing CIG saying this is pre-alpha give them time. So in my book as I see it CIG needs to let everyone have any release given to any backer that is not paid by CIG because that is what we all paid for being the early adapters and PROMISED in writing to get all alpha versions. They are breaking their word and as usual so many will buy any rubbish that CIG wants to make up, buy it all, ask for more and tell the rest of us we don't understand what alpha means, or how this is not alpha testing it is pre-pre-pre-pre- something but alpha testing so not alpha at all. Cut me a break stop giving CIG the magical they can do no wrong, can invent words to mean something besides what it really is.

So how has 2.4 been accepted by the community?

I had a bit of a looksy aroundsy and it seems like a very lukewarm patch? Lots of improvements in some areas, some additional features which aren't particularly exciting.

Was it worth the wait? (I bet all of Max's dreams came true)

The features didn't really convince me I want to play it, so any ideas what's in 2.5 ?

SOCKS, because its in Elite and no space game can be without it.

This is how a 350 tonne ship takes off in the awesome SC Flight model. Such fizzics, much fidelity!

On the F7C seems the cockpit got a revamp, here's how it's looking:

When/If you try actually fly it, you'll see it feels like a big ship. ;) But i've noticed how they actually take off, on there it really needs gradual speed increase.

Here's the video i linked of the Starfarer on actual combat: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zi8WvnY3lSA

I tried it in my friends house, and I can report that compare to elite it feels like a paper balloon, the big ship feel is just not their yet.

He and I agreed that SC is a long way to be even a little playable, unless you like twitch game play flight models.

Comparing to what it is, on the smaller ships, the Starfarer is not that twitchy maneuverability i was used to on smaller ships.

At least that's what I played and what is my opinion of it. But I don't think you will get what you want, when CIG limited maneuverability with impact of mass, the general complaint is that the ships are not maneuverable enough, mass bro! To me improving needed is at least to make gradual speed increase based on mass/power whatever impacts it, like that takeoff is a good example.

You have lost the faith. But don't worry, for the low price of one Buccaneer (on sale soon!) you can achieve redemption in the eyes of Christ Roberts. Or perhaps it's some kind of staged release.

No and yes. SQ42 is supposed to be released in 2016, but an article released somewhere at the beginning of the year mentioned total lack of gameplay. The journalist had some intended features described to him and some footage from CryEngine editor shown.

I've been following this project over the years and from what I can tell its looking like a broken mess. I've no investment in it and don't care if it succeeds or not, although I hope it works out for all those who invested in it. However, isn't it about time folks started to ask some serious questions about whats going on?

Game strikes me as little more than a cryengine mod - after FIVE years.. They seem to treat their backers like crap and Chris Roberts and co are starting to look ridiculous as it stands. Where has all that money gone?

I'm invested and I'm not worried at all. Where some see it as the shopping module, I see it as steady progress. I see the foundation for item port 2.0 and the beginning of persistance. This is part of the foundation of the game. Now thousands of items can be plugged in as they are finished. Cryengine Mod? Cryengine never had 64 bit precision, localized physics, PBR, and many other things. The game is taking longer to produce then had originally was pitched but we are getting much more then the original scope.I understand your cynical view of the game, I just don't agree.

They have spent too much time listening to twitch gamers who want a cross between Descent and Freelancer. Thats why larger ships look stupid when they move, nobody like Mike Evans to say 'look this is how we want dogfighting to feel and this is what we want to achieve even if it irritates people' its a complete mess trying to be everything to everybody who will throw money at them. Most of the dev team only have experience in FPS games, they literally haven't a clue how to make a good flight model. Travis Day had experience with DCS and left, Rob Irving and Wingman worked on previous space-sims and left. All thats left in CR and at this stage I question his competence as well as his integrity

All that money and they couldn't get one dev to focus on controls and the flight model(the game in other words). Anyone who questions what they are doing on the forums gets demonized. It really is a sad state of affairs.

Neat, if a bit generic.

Looks like the cockpit flops open and the chair drops down?

Are CIG done with small airplane fighters now?

I agree, the dramatization is incredible. Star Citizen keeps progressing and setting up the work on witch a lot more starts to come, it took a long time, but here we are. First it was 2.0 this "simple cryengine map with no persistence that could be played offline", now it has the first iteration of persistence but it is a "shopping simulator", tomorrow it will be something else. Who wants to live on criticizing, will always find something to. Meanwhile, others will play a game... :p

SC at this stage it has a clearer direction and focus, that direction does not please some backers, specially the Early ones, well, so be it, it was about time the game to be its own thing and stop trying to please everyone!

Already have a lot of those, i like the pirate vibe, utility ships instead of more of the same... But i think there is an older discussed Capital Ship incoming, forgot its name though.

Where has all that money gone?

Now that's a good question. CIG absolutely refuses to release their financials, changing their TOS each time the deadline comes up, the newest being May 31.
As you can see, opinions on other facets of the problem are divided. I have played during three (IIRC) free-fly events, and I hated it, courtesy of terrible, unrealistic flight model (a claim I make after playing I-War 2, B5:IFH, Kerbal Space Program and being utterly confused by Orbiter), phasing through spaceship hulls (I swear, I haven't succeeded in leaving Mustang through the exit even once, every time I was thrown out through what was supposed to be a solid surface), and general jerkiness of movement. What's interesting, I think the flight model was the most realistic in 0.8, where trying to yaw in Aurora at high speeds resulted in severe wobbling (flight computer frakking out by stopping yaw with high amount of thrust, stopping the interference when angular speed dropped below certain value, and resuming the freakout when player input didn't change).
One last thing: seriously, Buccaneer looks like a X-Wing left in a wash.

May 31 and CiG does need to release the financials as promised. Any one who says they don't need to the progress is easy to see needs to remember it was promised during the Kickstarter they would do so. it is not an issue of progress it is an issue of them keeping their word, and doing what they should now be legally obligated to do. If they have the money to finish the game without raising another cent well and good, the financial report will prove that.
.
Please don't anyone start saying I don't know how a game is made, how things change and how certain things said previously need not be done so they can concentrate on building the game. This is a legal obligation and more importantly it is them keeping their word (also they were suppose to have done it over 18 months ago and changed their TOS to extend it). So it is a matter of them doing the right thing and giving the backers what Chris himself said so long ago they deserve the right to be sure the money was not wasted and to prove they are keeping their word. I honestly expect them to release nothing, say nothing, and when people ask be shouted down by fan boys and CR will say nothing and if forced to will just say. We are in good financial shape and this is a distraction from building the game. BLA BLA BLA. Nope it is time they do as they say. If you disagree what are you afraid of hearing? That the money was wasted? That is my guess they wasted a ton of it with little to show. Now they can prove me wrong, but I won't hold my breath they will fight tooth and nail and release nothing.

Sorry to be THAT guy, CIG never kept their word, ever! well maybe when they said they will raise the ship prices, but that is as far as it goes.

Oh dear, you really need to read the actual TOS and less the Derek Smart's "twitter feed", you know what he says vs reality don't really check.
When it comes to law, and legal obligations as you mention, the term where the claims about the release of financials by CIG, is not tied to the term about the failure to deliver the game, firstly on 12 now 18 months. Now the refund policy clearly IS affected by this, and implied on it. But hey, while i backed a game, not financial reports, i'm all for it, IF the backers ask for it, not internet drama mostly external to the backers. ;)

Oh dear lord! hahahahaha :D You really just got me laughing out loud! This makes me feel i'm on those Mexican TV Nobels where the acting heights on dramatization that blows everything out of proportion!

I quite like that Buccaneer, it looks a bit more solid and practical than the other ships I've seen. I can't say the design is very inspired though.

I watched a couple of 2.4 videos and it looks ok but it seems a huge amount of time, money and staff for not very much in return. If this is the state of progress what sort of delivery date are people expecting now?
