Because this thread and its predecessors are where all the info about barnacles is. Anyone looking for info about barnacles and why they aren't providing MAs atm should be looking here.

I wonder how many CMDRs are right now looking around the galaxy for meta-alloys, who don't frequent these forums? Don't forget it's a small subset of CMDRs on these forums I'd suggest!

On a second note, is there anyway in game that actually gives you a hint/hope of finding meta-alloys once the engineer gives you this requirement?

Personally I think they should get rid of that sub forum. I haven't even been there and am only now aware of it's existence.

There are far, far too many subforums. I'd get rid of most of them and leave News, PC General, XBox General, Ships & Modules, Exploration, Fan Fiction, Bug Reports and Support. Less is more.

...and now an ETA on if/when barnacles will come back into action again? Simply pressing J a few dozen times and then turning up to a station and pressing BUY is hardly inspiring

No. They are new sites appeared, but they are bugged at the moment as they spawn other metals (Platinum and friends) instead of meta alloys - if you ask me I speculate patch will arrive on Monday or Tuesday (most likely) with another bunch of fixes.

If you want to mine them, then wait.

Thanks! You always come up with the goods. Ca you point me at one of the new sites that spawn platinum or alloys or something odd so I can take a look? I've been keen to see them in 2.1. I want to do science and drive about.

2 of the 5 barnacles are intact on JC-U b3-2 , 1 has defences around it

Now FSDs have a logo in outfitting, and guess what, the shape is very similar to barnacles. This is terrifying, because of this. "Anomalous FSD Telemetry". I suspect this station/capital ship/unidentified vessel has been destroyed by an UA activation.

This is not a new Barnacle site on Pleione 11A, 2.3188 / 177.2389, but it is now protected by drones.
One spike also produced 4 pods containing Rutile.
