No motivation to go on.

So I just came back after a few weeks to try the new update, and I really like what they did with the radio chatter and the graphics, however, I'm at this point in the game in which everything seems like a huge mountain climb, and this update has made it even harder.

First I start with my current objectives:

-Earn about 300 million more, to install a good shield and an A PP to my Cutter.
-Improve reputation with the empire and see if there are any Empire-aligned engineers.
-Get access to the engineers and start collecting materials to improve the different modules

Problems:

-Farming in Haz res is out of the question now, tried to get my Cutter there, faced an NPC Anaconda, and I beat it, but It left me at 32% with a breached canopy: Total earnings : 100k
I welcome the challenge of the new and harder AI, but the rewards should really be increased to compensate.
-I couldn't find missions, docked at many stations, looked for systems in state of war, most of the missions were for small ships and no combat oriented ones. They all paid pretty low. Only found one combat mission, and it paid 100k.

Neither of these options will help me earn money or get along with the Empire

-Trading back and fourth seems to be the only viable way to make money now and achieve at least the first objective, but having so little time and so many more engaging games to play right now, I can't justify spending my time doing that. While I could be having fun in Overwatch instead, or just beating any game of my backlog. And thats before even starting to talk about getting materials for the modules.

TL;DR: The game has become even slower and grindier.

In the same boat. Back to Stellaris it seems.

so your upset that there is difficult combat in a game with the word Dangerous in the title... funny cause I was upset for the exact opposite reason up until this update.

I saw a game called "Bass Fishing".. there wasn't one single beer in it, not one! :(

Not upset, it's just a game. Been playing it for almost 2 years, got my moneys worth. My kids would get upset about games. Just stating facts. I bought into SC now that I could get upset about.

You know what the real problem is? This game isn't advertised as linear, but it is, and people don't like that.

After the 2.1 update I'm seeing a lot of people saying that they can't do what they were doing before, or that some of the new things are too hard and that frustrates them. Well, you're just looking at it wrong.

Here's a very cut and dry example. I log into WoW for the first time. I'm level 1. I see that I have to be lvl 100 (or something, I really don't play the game) in order to get the best gear. Then I go, "This game is too hard! It's going to take me a long time to get what I want!" and then quit.

Except nobody does that that actually wants to play the game because there's a clear outline of realistic goals to achieve. They know they have to put one foot in front of the other to get somewhere. The problem is that with ED, they just go, "Here's ALL THE THINGS" whether we're ready for them or not, and when we go for the thing we shouldn't we get        and say the game is too hard. Play within your currents means of time, effort and money and you'll have a good time. If you don't, then sounds like you don't like this game.

im thrilled with the new game... and honestly im terrible at it.

I play like 3 hours a week normal (more when awesome patches drop) so don't give that crap about I don't have enough time... I know that I am bad at Elite but I look forward to getting better... if I wanted to play something without any difficulty I would play board games against my kids. I don't enjoy doing things that are easy... it is the same with work -- I want a challenge I don't want to just be a warm body at walmart stocking milk without engaging my brain all day.

I get it you still go around in a Sidewinder, do you ? If not, imagine people starting now that will not be able to complete missions cause they get interdicted all the time, have you tried kill missions yet ? please try a few , then come back and tell me how fair it is to get stalked all the time, I had to play a mission for 1 hour and targets didn't spawn, I got interdicted many times by an Anaconda, I only could kill 2 targets , 1 of which wasn't counted and Anaconda spawned right when I was firing on the third one, note it wasn't even on wing with target, just a random stalker. I'm ok with the new AI but addings stalkers during missions just make missions last excessively longer than before, while rewards are the same, more grind, less fun, it's not a good trade off, but of course there are still ppl like you who are still in Sidewinder so they are ok if the others have to grind to get better stuff ...

Engineer wants soontill relics.
Spent half an hour browsing the forums on where to find them.
Learned that I need to travel 73 jumps to some system that sells them as rare trade goods.
Oh and 73 jumps back again.

Replace soontill with meta-alloy and you have pretty much my exact story.

Except I jumped 23 systems only to find out that the system is 'out of stock'.

Mark your missing what I am saying... I was in beta, while in beta I was destroyed constantly because I am not good. the key to Elite is to remember Elite doesn't care who you are, it is not Dragonage where you are the Hero... in Elite you are just supposed to be some pilot and you forge your own trail. there is no galactic evil to defeat. Elite Dangerous is supposed to kick your butt. and now it does

they need a difficulty slider, at least for Solo mode, as they need to accommodate for those of us who like the old Elite and find this new elite very OP. frankly im scared to leave my base as I have lost 26,500,000 credits in the last day to insurance claims. Some of us suck and like the older version, some of us don't and are hot pilots. a simple selector allows everyone to enjoy the game, which is why you should be playing.

there is a "difficulty slider" in the game... it's called security level and found in the description of the systems. just stick with high sec systems and gain some reputation, and you won't have any problems.

the greatest change we got with 2.1 is that we finally have to use our brains!

Well hazardous should really mean harzardous. Have you tried going in with a few wingmen? Also, whats wrong with Hi intesity?

But you've highlighted the problem.. farming

Sorry dude but the gravy train is over ;)

I welcome the challenge of the new and harder AI,

Doesn't sound like it in all honesty.

but the rewards should really be increased to compensate.

Why?

Sorry to point this out but I think you are playing the game wrong. For best experience we should be enjoying the journey, not setting ourselves credit targets. Sounds like you are making the game a grind for yourself. What's the rush?

No offense and all but the problem is you, not the game. For far too long folks have amassed vast riches with little effort and facerolled the game. Ironically I think this leads to burn out and what you gonna do when you have what your heart is apparently set on? Nothing to do from the sounds of it.

Learn to smell the roses and feel the wind through your hair ;)

I take it from the rebuy costs its a large ship your flying. Go back into a smaller more maneuverable ship and A fit it, then develop your piloting skills as you haven`t got the ability for what you are flying. This way you learn and have lower rebuy in the process.

its nice to see everybody cry because they cant deal with a more challenging experience. You actually have to think about how you engage your opponents and not just hold the reverse S key.

I'm gonna be so dissapointed if Frontier cave into this.. I get the impression its the same folks complaining who moan about PvP.. [sad]

Yeahh but getting interdicted 3 times a minute is just frustrating, you escape or fight once, you enter sc again to try to find your mission targets, 30 seconds, interdicted again, same as before, boost or fight, enter sc, getting interdicted again within the next 30 seconds... LOL You understand my point ? I'm ok with AI being as good as it is now, I love the challenge but getting interdicted every second is stupid and frustrating, it should be toned down by a good degree, interdicted once in a while is ok, stalked every second is just frustrating even if I'm good enough to face my opponents, I never died in beta, I've always kicked the npcs anyways even if I had to change tactics ... no problem with that, my point is how other npcs stalk you or spawn on you while in a fight, that has to be toned down to me

I dunno where you are but I've never got interdicted so often. In fact I haven't yet been interdicted since the game went live. Where are you playing?

yes this is what I said it is good advice

I'm all for challenge. I'm not in favour of unfun frustration. I have a job for that.
