I know my player faction (one of the biggest on xbox) made an offer to beta test this release for FD, but were turned down. Pity really because it's obvious once again that FD has released an update on Xbox that has been nowhere near tested enough.
Within one minute of playing I was aware of a game breaking bug that numerous other players on the forums have reported. The loss of the context menus. Alright we have a fix now but how the hell did that get missed in the first place, seriously, were you testing with your eyes closed? Did you even try the update on the xbox before releasing it? Because from a players point of view it doesn't look like it.
Next up we have the black out bug, fun one that, try fighting when you can't see anything. I like a challenge as much as the next guy but come on, I'm not Luke Skywalker, I can't use the force.
Then there's the number of disconnections I'm having. I daren't fight a player for fear of being called a logger because of the number of times I'm getting kicked from the game.
And this is before even worrying about the ninja NPCs. I have an alt account where I have a DBS fighter. but because I've not had it long my combat rating is still very low. I took on a sidewinder today and I thought I was fighting the Red Baron himself. It was as if the damn thing was bolted to the back of my ship. Even going FA off I couldn't turn fast enough to get it in my sights. In order just to get it in front of my ship I had to hit the reverse but then the damn thing took my canopy. I did kill it in the end, I even lived to limp away with some hull left.
The next problem is that the NPCs are now so hard to defeat that the bounties we get for killing them won't cover the repairs to our ships that we incur in the fight making bounty hunting pointless. I know, wing up, but I should be able to take a single enemy on by myself without getting my butt kicked every time.
Oh and I just lost my ship with all my bounties again because even though I did the fix, sometimes I just have to glance at the B button and have the vaguest notion in mind of my gear lowering to trigger a boost into the damn station.
I've got over 1200 hours in on this game on my main account, I'd like to think I know what I'm doing but this is just so damn frustrating, Elite is not only my favourite game but has been my obsession for months now but these issues are just draining all the joy out of the experience.
God only knows how a noob would even get out of the free ship at the moment.
I'm going to take a break for a few days, then I'll try again but if my experience doesn't improve then I won't be a returning customer when horizons and engineers launches next week. I already know of other players who have deleted the game since yesterday.
And before I get a torrent of 'get gud' comments, please remember, this is a game, it should be fun to play, and more importantly it should be fun for players of all abilities not just the top few percent. I'm happy for you if you like the changes but you should also respect the fact that a lot of people don't and our opinions are just as valid as yours.
FD, if you learn nothing else from this launch start doing proper beta testing on the xbox, use real players who have the use of their eyes, it'll make a big difference to your customers experiences.

I know the NPCs needed buffing, I wanted them buffed but really FD, did you have to turn them up to 11? You went from one extreme to the other.
