funny, I am elite combat rank, but only cause iv been playing so long and 15000kills adds up. I actually suck at combat and thought the game before the patch was rather hard and I ran 30% of the time from interdictions. Now I run 100% of the time as I lost a fed gunship (A rated) to an eagle earlier and it cost me 4 mil.

There is no shame in truth.

Clear save, start from the beginning, and take what you have learned and apply it.

Just spend 40 minutes in an A rated Sidewinder fitted for missions in a Low Intensity CZ

Survived that 40 minutes with 43% hull.

Key points

When you arrive; move away from the battle, then select your side so you are not set upon immediately

Look at your sensor at max range, look for groups of engagements

Specifically where it is even numbers or green has the advantage, join in.

If numbers go in reds favour leave the area.

Be aware of enemy rank, Dangerous + will have fancy stuff, either avoid or ensure they have plenty of green allies to shot at as well as yourself.

Always be ready to disengage as soon as things are not in your favour in any way, don't get caught up attacking even if the enemy has 1% hull left.

I recorded it but I am pretty sure no one will want to watch it

Let's do it like this: How would you deal with a Cobra that your guns cannot hit, which can fly circles around you in a literal sense, whose shields refresh to maximum constantly after those few hits your Parkinsons-gripped guns are able to land, and whose guns drain your shields like they aren't even there? What would your strategy be for this? I wasn't able to develop one, because it's rather like being attacked with a jackhammer by a ghost.

I posted this a moment ago, but here you go again:

Then I'm going to have to assert that your Corvette's sheer volume of fire was plenty to overwhelm the smaller ships you were dealing with. I am in a Clipper at rank Dangerous. Previously I would have no trouble taking on as many as seven Anacondas (I did this regularly during the Isinor CG) simultaneously, and I was perfectly able in PVP. Now single AI Cobras are posing a significant threat.

The fact that you state you could take down 7 annies simultaneously before and you are now getting owned by a lowly cobra in your clipper should be answer enough in itself as to your true rather than persumed combat skill.

I can deal with "lowly" Cobras. I can deal with lots of Anacondas "tactically" by dividing and conquering. I cannot deal with what I can only presume to be a Cobra flown by Christ himself, equipped with top of the line bottomless chaff buckets, an on-board SCB factory and magic lasers that my defeat my shields nearly instantaneously.

Lol, well some of us don't have a GF OR a motorbike.[blah]

Obtaining either is up to you - neither takes any real effort if you aren't really concentrating on "git gud" in a computer game :)

Get your license. Buy a knacked out old 125cc for $400. Go to bars in towns you've never heard of. Find girls. *Talk to them. Be nice. Be yourself. See what happens.

Just don't drink and ride.

*before I get jumped by SJW's

SJA has already state categorically that they do not have unlimited ammo, besides the multi-cannons. So, why do you keep claiming they do?

I've got a wife and three kids. I "Git Gud" so that they don't drive me absolutely insane :p

To those who are posting vids - what's the point of showing you shooting at targets that oviously don't really fight back? I would rather like to see 1vs1 fights against high ranked NPCs with proper ships, where you get in (serious) trouble and manage to handle it and to win the fight nonetheless. This would be a bit more helpfull. Or at least could you recommend a few youtube vids?

My opinion:

Deadly, Dangerous, and especially Elite NPCs *should* be this crazy tough.

They should also be rare. When you're constantly interdicted by ships that are faster than you and carry railguns and top SCBs, it get's old fast. And for some reason, Pythons seem to always get interdicted by high ank FdLs. It's become very very challenging for those who are less combat oriented.

High ranked NPCs should essentially be considered bosses, not common mobs.

Because the particular encounter I'm referring to had the enemy Cobra popping off chaff continuously. He either had infinite chaff or magic engineer chaff with a higher capacity because he definitely used more than 10 before I decided something was really wrong and bailed.

Well, the problem is I've not had trouble with them. Especially on their own. I had a moment earlier this morning where I got too far away from my allies in a combat zone and had about ten NPC's open fire on me. I boosted back into friendly lines and was fine.

But, I can go to a USS or some such and see if there are a couple nasties in there later tonight.

He had two chaff launchers...

Two chaff launchers, two SCBs (at least), a cargo scanner, a cargo rack, and a shield generator. And if AI ships truly are affected by heat then he would certainly have needed a heat sink launcher, too. We're running into a problem here- the Cobra doesn't have that many slots.

He had two chaff launchers. It's a trick that FDev picked up from players.. You know, us? That means they have 20 available.

Having an absolute blast in a nav beacon atm, thanks MoM the AI is epic!
The fuzz are brilliant as well , maybe even a little bit OP haha but helped me out in a few scraps.
I wouldn't dare enter a CZ right now, I'll need to build up my pretty poor combat skills first.

And remember guys.
Winter is coming.

If he has more than available, video record it, and scan his systems. That will prove it beyond a doubt to everyone, right?

The Cobra does not have enough slots to support the amount of chaff he popped, the amount of SCBs he used, his cargo scanner + cargo rack + shield gen and a heat sink launcher which again he would certainly have needed to keep his laser spam from melting him.

I plan on it next time I run into one of these guys. I can't exactly go back in time and do it now. Unless you plan to tell me how easy it is to go back in time and I'm incompetent for not being able to.
