then you havent met a real NPC during an interdiction. no choosing. no be ready to run when it goes south because it has the speed to keep up while the FSD is charging and you wont have that much time left for the charge and jump, because you wont have power much longer.

You are wrong...I was interdicted a few times tonight...I had to chaff about 4 times to buy my time for my FSD to cool down...

If you play smart, you can escape in most situations.

Yeah. I am all about commanders giving a fighting chance, but complains about credit grind doesn't work on me. I am still thinking Anaconda should be 1 year achievement. This is even more apparent with this thread.

It took me nearly a year to get my First Anaconda. After that, it was plain sailing because trade routes and combat plato's. But it took a lot of learning and developing skills on the way there.

I replied like that, because old mate complete discounted my opinion because of the wealth I've accumulated. It's not as if there is any "old money" in Elite...

Im claiming its ok...and im a casual player.
I fly a FAS and have barely 100 mil.
No where near the vettes and cutters bankroll...but I dont think having a bunch of credits makes a difference.
You need to choose your targets wisely and be ready to run when the it starts to go south on ya.
I have noticed that it seems anything rated over competent usually hit harder than before...probably because they are modded.

And yet again... I choose nothing, in fact I choose that they leave me alone! They want me, they jump me, they cut me a new a.. err... ear! You guys are hunting them WANTING the abuse, I want to trade and do missions in peace without a T2000 type ship that regens itself, farts chaff, never runs out of ammo and eats babies chasing me in and out of SC. AND NO... THERE IS NO FRIENDS IN SOLO TO HELP ME! (before one of you says it again... and again.. and again!). :(

Yeah, its always a good sign when your forums are melting down and people are walking away from the game.....GO check out the Star Wars Battlefront forums......lots of people with your attitude "Good riddance" they say.,....but DOh!...now they are moaning because their servers are empty................You guys who paid 20 quid for Early Access will no doubt be happy to pay for the Frontier team, to stay in work?

It is always good to use hyperbole to drive your point home. Relax. FD will tweak quite a few things - and SJA has promised to continue to work on AI for considerable time - so this is not over yet. FD doesn't want you to feel bad about ED, but it doesn't want it to be a farm fest neither. They are pros and will do what's best of the game. It might not make you happy completely but your arguments will be considered. Just stop with hyperbole, take a break and go outside. This is not a war.

The only thing I'm concerned about at this point, is Frontier overdoing any nerf to the AI, by listening to people who put no context into what/where/how changes are needed.

Agreed. I really like the new AI when I'm spoiling for a fight. I just want them to tone down the involuntary engagements like interdictions when in my explorer ship, or doing a little mining for relaxation.

I'm sure if enough people whine, frontier will back peddle and take the AI back to the stone age where all the crushed-ego people can happily farm billions in peace again.

Everyone else will lament that one time the AI stood up for itself before it was merciless cut down and sent back to the paddock as potatoes.

Honestly. The AI is a smidge better. You could be forgiven that endless pets have been murdered and omg look at me and the sack cloth frontier do something!
and your post is simply going to the other extreme. not everyone is saying nerf the AI we are saying it shouldnt be so quick to kill shields - right now its not the AI doing the killing its the master and above levels with engineer mods two or three shotting players with pythons and players like me with 5A shield and mil spec hull. i say lets ban engineer mods from the npcs for the time being and actually SEE what the AI is like. right now we dont get to fight we die or flee. hard to tell how good an npc is when it can keep firing and boosting with you when you are trying to FSD to survive

Disclaimer: I haven't played this game for long, and I am definitely not "gud". I guess this is as much a question related to the difficulty upgrade as it is a complaint.

Since this was advertised as a sandbox game, I set out to play it for the exploration. I tried the combat stuff, and it doesn't really have too much appeal to me, so my main strategy would be to try escaping whenever I was interdicted. Before the update, it seemed like I could get away most of the time by submitting to the interdiction and trying to evade shots until the FSD had cooled down.

Maybe it is a coincidence, but since the update, all the ships that have interdicted me have killed me instantly. Basically, I get the message that my shield is down at the same time as the message that I am being attacked, and then I explode. If this is intentional, it is game mechanically the equivalent of having your ship randomly explode without any way of avoiding it. Sure, it adds some tension, but it is only coin-tossing, which gets boring after a while since there is no way of affecting the outcome. I would much prefer the challenge of exploration/trading/mining to be related to that style of playing the game instead of flipping a coin to see if you succeed.

Realism-wise, it also makes very little sense for these high-level pirates to attack me when I neither pose a threat to them (I am ranked "harmless" and they are usually ranked "deadly"), nor have anything they would be remotely interested in stealing. Is the game simulating griefers because the actual players are too honorable? :)

So my question is: Is this all because I am crap at games? Should I be able to avoid interdiction or escape? Am I traveling through star systems where I have no business being? If that is the case, then I can live with that, I guess. I will either learn how to play properly or find a different game. A tutorial on how would be appreciated, of course, but with the amounts of user-generated documentation out there, it might not even be necessary.

If it is not, then I would vote to either make the overpowered NPCs focus on people with comparable combat ships, or provide ways of escaping battle. This could very well be at the expense of being able to do combat at all (the weapons could be exchanged for some sort of interdiction protection or something.)

Anyway, just my two cents. I am still enjoying this game immensely, but I probably won't go on any long quests for thousands of light years as long as I know I have a 30% change of exploding right before I reach my base :)

What are you flying?

Please don't say a Type-6 with D-rated shields.

Serious?
I started playing when a good bounty from a viper was 4000cr. It took months to crack a million credits. We didn't start with everything we have...

There were a few instances when they payouts were awful. I started when no anacondas or any large ships spawned I any res sites and had the time of my life handing in high thousaned, low tens of thousand bounties. It was months before larger ships started appearing again.

Now? People are so used to and hooked on stupid AI with fat bounties it's like a parent has come along, taken one of about nineteen toys out of the cot and people are flipping the heck out.

Did I say "Good Riddance" ? No.

I was commenting on the perenial posts that predict the death of the game. People have been predicting that from before the game's release. They have all been wrong so far, whatever the reason they give.

I see nothing new here.

And please do not attribute attitudes and or comments to me that were not present in my post.

Stick with high secuity systems and apply counter measures to your trading ship before falling into despair. Come on, we know you can do it.

Don't know if this has been posted in the thread but Cmdr Hooch just did an excellent video showing that, no the AI is not too hard..

He takes on a Haz Res with a sidewinder..

Then why did they up the difficulty NOW instead of when that patch drops?

Because the AI was always going to get better. You understand that question sounds like a petulantly child demanding to have their toys back, right?

Guess what. Bounty hunting has gone through a number of peaks and troughs. This is nothing special in that respect. Only that it's the first time the AI will defend itself.

Hello

I'm using a Phyton for trade (missions and free). The ship felt like a trader, that could occasionnally defend itself if necessary, with the build I choose (A, B, C grade mixed).

With 2.1 it feels like every trade run (mission or free), I get interdicted and face a very strong ship (Fer de Lance, Expert for example) I boosted and high waked away from this one with 40% hull left, because I read about the increased difficulty in the forums before. Otherwise that would have been it for the phyton and the cargo. Of the other two interdictions, i could handle one - which was clearly a smaller ship - with 90% hull left. The third one I escaped closely as well.

I admit that combat isn't my preferred thing in the game, I'm only competent combat rating after almost 1.5 years of Elite. Now it feels like I cannot handle the ordinary trade runs in the bubble anymore. I welcome a strong AI for military and police ships to maintain peace and order in the core systems, in fighting places and hopefully soon for alien ships, where it belongs (from my point of view). But the ordinary pirate that awaits the traders on every turn in the core systems, clearly no!

I wonder if a T9 is even playable right now, I for my part wouldn't risk my back in it.

Greetings to all and right on Commanders!

Robert de Vries

I feel your pain. I'm caught up in the same trap. No point saying a damn thing here, most here only want to play murder, death, kill... Welcome to Elite: Doomgerous!

Yeah your right took a lot of time but i classify myself like in the middle range maybe little less than the elite dangerous evolution gives to player and now just dno if i'll be able to give the time that now is taking to make that money and i'll not be doing trading even if it's the only way left to get a lot of money.Yeah it was easy farming but can we have a balance in that ? keep the ia cuz challenge is good and add a lot of thinking and strategy in the combat situations but can do they pay more at least... or make other jobs bit more lucrative what do you think ?
