ah so i see that and check for a line of npc ships going to and from a point through where i am, gotcha i have seen lines of npc ships heading to same place in systems. now i know thats a shipping lane. thanks!

Yeah shipping lane pops up in writing when you are in it. They are supposed to be the equivalent of a highway/motorway for system traffic.

I suspect NPCs fly around with Engie mods more than expected. It is worth to report to FD support so they can look at it and tweak numbers. FD said there should be only high rank ships with mods.

I use to enjoy mining. Relaxing and fun to look for and drill for things. Good rewards, too. Now, all that is changed. The fun has been sapped out of the game. At least for me, anyway. I used to think I could play in this "Sandbox" all day and not get bored or mad. Hmmm...rethninking this game.

This is true. However I suspect that if the same NPC interdicts you again after you have escaped into SC, it will have full ammo again. Not 100% sure on this but since the NPC are not persistent in that way, I suspect it's the case.

It is possible. FD might have not achieved such level of persistence yet (although it might be achieveable at some point). Need feedback from them.

Make sure to stock up on tissues and drink plenty of water.

Thank you! That is so considerate of you to say. Can I have my old Elite:Dangerous game back? The one before 2.1? I mean, I have the disc and everything. Will it revert me back to the older version if I uninstall and re-install using the install disc?

Mining has been improved. What's the problem?

If you're trying to mine in a RES site filled with pirates then you should maybe re-evaluate that.
Go check out the ice rings, beautiful!

What exactly forbids you to do mining? Just curious. If you stick with safe systems you should be fine.

Also no way back.

I thought Jura 7 was a safe system. What about Bhaga, or Frey, or Bhare? Are they safe systems?

Jura was a safe system before 2.1. I was making millions there. And I never mined in a RES source, always in a spot LS's away from the RES fields.

The game you described doesn`t sound too dangerous.

no he's talking about the one where the plants spin around and you have to wait 30 seconds to farm them and then insta-profit. AI is fiiiiiiiiiine, use alpha based weapons, dont engage wings, use security, manage your power priorities, watch your positioning and the enemies. Wash Rinse Repeat. I will admit that the new bump of difficulty will frighten people at first, but thats just learning how to beat your enemy. Its not the end of the world, and these AI, even at elite, aren't aim bots or anything really.

The real problems are the bounty values, the amount of modifications for scaling, and scaling itself could use a touch up. Generally this is an overall improvement, I would rather keep it, and deal with it until it gets better rather than going back to something that was completely boring and exploitable.

Haven't read all 167 pages of the thread, but has the issue of some AI ships being able to melt shields and ships in seconds being explained or is it a bug.

Some engagements are fine no matter the skill of the pilot but you then get ones where before you can even get your weapons out your shield is gone. This is for NPC's using laser so not even plasma accelerators.

Indeed. And any damage you might have inflicted on it will also be magically healed... At least, until now that has always been the case.

Oh, and it will very likely be a different rank too. :D

Some problems that I have found with the AI in this update:

1. They spawn too often on the player when the player is landed on a planet, especially when the planet is in the middle of no where, not near anything useful. In five minutes, I had 2 system authority vessels and two pirates scan me and I was no where important, just landed to alt-tab out of the game for a bit. Not only is this immersion breaking, it's also super "over the top" and really quite annoying. God forbid the player has somewhere safe to land when he has to take a real world dump...

2. The AI cheats FAR, FAR TOO MUCH.

  • Weapons that can remove shields before the player even has a chance to engage in a battle. Why do that? It just removes the GAME from the game, by killing the player before he can PLAY THE GAME. Needless annoyance that, as I said, removes the game from the game.
  • The AI always knows where you are. This is immersion breaking, because, really in the whole enormous galaxy, I can't be left alone for 5 minutes, let alone days? Come... on.
  • The AI instantly heals to full when it re-interdicts you 5 seconds after you fled its first interdiction. I don't even think I need to explain why that's not right.

And this is without taking part at all in the entire "Power Play" thing and without having any bounties on my head - I learned in 2.0 that game becomes entirely unplayable, due to constant NPC interdictions and attacks, so I avoid that stuff at all costs...

Anyhow, it would be nice if Frontier could:

  1. Reduce the frequency of NPC spawns. Full stop. There too many EVERYWHERE, especially in remote places where no one else should be at all.
  2. Only spawn enemies that the player actually has a chance to beat.
  3. Stop forcing combat down everyone's bloody throat - there are A LOT of times when I log in and I don't WANT to do combat, but I do want to take part in all that other stuff the game has to offer...

This !

Well, i think the AI was too Easy in the past but now it´s a bit insane. I have a Class A-Pyhton and getting destroyed within minutes two times by a OP NPC.
Sure, i am not the best Pilot with special gear like special joystick equipment or something else but it feels like the AI is now 500% stronger.. Thats my opinion.
FD have to Nerf the AI asap..
But don´t get me wrong.. i like the new maneuver from some NPC Ships. It´s nice to have a bit more Challange then before but for now.. It´s too hart for Casual Gamers like me and new players in the ED Galaxy.

Hmm just played for a few hours in an Asp Explorer with 2xPulse, 2xMC and 2x Torpedos. I have not been interdicted once and have been investigating various USS. I went in some weapon detected threat 1 and 2 USSs and had some good battles. Lost my shields to an Elite Asp but I took out his wingman in a Viper first. I'm liking the new AI so far. Maybe it's about picking your battles.

Exactly. It's all about picking your battles. When before, one can just mindlessly fight anyone and win; now, one has to think twice, check the ranks, how many potential enemy, whether or not the police are present, whether one has enough SCB and chaff to survive at least. At the moment, the best strategy is to collect as many materials and data as possible, and from there upgrade anything until the ship has a high margin of survivability.

Actually, no it hasn't, incredibly enough mining got nerfed in income potential. I've spent hours testing it since 2.1 went live. The three P's are more rare now, probably due to the new ores and materials, and ice mining is horrendous at credits per hour, we are talking like 20% of the rate of a pristine metallic. Missions have stayed mostly the same in values, but the three P's being harder to get essentially nerfs the mission income.

But yeah, ice rings are beautiful.

Maybe a scrawny keyboard warrior who sees a tough guy when looking in the mirror, truly though, I'm glad the hardcore fans got what they wanted, a "game" they can enjoy, I mean that's what games are for, to have fun and enjoy, but what riles me is the selfishness "Git Gud"; "Not a game for you";"na na, learn to fly"; I wonder if the advertising department would be prepared to use that second one.

People say that because they're jerks.

The game needs to be difficult in places for all - sometimes impossibly difficult. But there should always be measures to run away from battles you can't win. That doesn't mean you should always be able to escape though. The world needs to be dangerous, that's what its always been sold as - a dangerous galaxy where you eke out your finances and adapt and survive in whatever way you want.

Personally I think they need to re-look at turrets, so that they become the type of weapon a trader always wants equipped and doesn't have to shell out to afford. Attacking a trader should not be like shooting fish in a barrel, more like avoiding the thorns on a rose. Unfortunately the game isn't that way at the moment and trading is about running - which I don't mind.

When I was younger and playing tag in the play ground, whether I was "it" or being chased, I enjoyed it. And that's true in the game too, the thrill of escaping is great as is the relief when entering a station. I would still like to see traders be able to fight back without sacrificing a great deal and I think turrets should fill that role. I'd like to see them cost 1/4 as much, deal 1/2 as much damage but be able to be out while the FSD is charging. That way a trader could equip them and defend itself - or a smuggler or even a miner and not feel like the fish in the barrel - possibly even be able to take out some less intelligent/equipped targets with clever use of mods and modules.
