The Star Citizen Thread v 4

IME the new AI is much worse: if I'm out in a CNAV with my 'conda then I get loads of collisions from AI ships. They seem to like looking in through my windshield for some reason. It was bad enough before with the ram 'n' scans. It, and other behaviour, has sort of sucked the fun out of ED for me at the moment. And I fear I'm not the only one.

To bring this back onto topic: players need to have fun or they'll stop playing - and that's true for both ED and SC.

I'm having lots more fun since the upgrade, there's no fun at all in challenge free games. NPC's seem to be combat ramming to me, to early to tell yet.

The insta-kill AI is a bug, There have been 3 or more vids posted of ships firing off a rail gun with a rate of fire of an mc (think purple tracer). It is a bug, there is no weapon mod in game that can do that.

So far I have seen vids of a Python and an iClipper, there is also a recorded incident of a Viper III shredding an A class PvP wing.

It does look ridiculous when you see the videos. I would expect patch 2.1.1 either tomorrow or Thursday to correct it.

Thanks for that I glazed over when I was reading the thread due to all the ragequiting, I'll play on regardless my super speedy viper 3 is insured.

That is if you think that any comments on forums/reddit/social media as any bearing in multi-million dollar projects lol
The new COD is the most disliked video on the internet but does anyone want to bet against it selling millions?
Online Forum/Reddit battle-grounders are just awkward mostly anti-social socio-path individuals fighting for bread-cums lol
Nothing here or elsewhere will matter in the grand scheme of things, except smart, he helped shape a better Star Citizen by fuelling the refund campaign that all it did was remove the cancerous individuals from the kickstarter project, and when I say cancerous I don't say that in a negative way, but more in the way that those people had no place in pledging in the first time, because the reason they pledge was completely wrong, you don't pledge for your personal gain or benefit, you pledge to support and individual / item / idea. If you start making demands based on your egoistical needs you are off the mark. More refunds less people with anything to do with the game that don't really care about the game but just about themselves. The poppy cutters should wait outside, by the sidelines they can bicker, argue and scream while the believers work and help the vision get made.

In the end everyone can play :)

cancerous individuals

the believers

anti-social socio-path individuals

the vision

I guess it makes it more fun to watch a really really behind schedule, hopelessly managed game project sputter along if you recast it as a titanic struggle against good and evil, between the dreamers of the dream and... orcs or something.

If we're going that route, and are going to talk about the vision and the believers... lesse: maybe this thing really spins out of control and Roberts stays on the high seas, a fugitive from the IRS like another famous pulp sci fi merchant turned charismatic leader of men, with his trusty Santa Monica Sea Org by his side, dictating countless pronouncements and staying ahead of Interpol.

Like um... whassisname.

There's a fella who knew how to deal with smarties and suppressive persons!

But that would be silly. Speaking of silly, we're coming up on the one year anniversary of Star Marine being delayed indefinitely. How are we all celebrating? Mocapping ourselves in a series of jukes? Glitching through walls? Crying ourselves to sleep after pretending it's already in the game? Actually attempting to make a space door out of wood and a garage door opener?

So, you posted on an internet forum to inform us, that posting on an internet forum is pointless?

Anyone seeing that would think it was a negative reality inversion!...

August is going to be a great month for CiG then, what with NMS launching. It should finally take some pressure off CiG to deliver the "next great space game" ;)

"Cancerous individuals" but you're not saying it in a bad way.

A zealot's mind works in mysterious ways....

Now you are acting like a typical SC"cultist",like this they managed to push-back many ppl. who dare to raise their voice and said the obvious truth on SC forum...saying that ppl. are cancerous if they don't follow CR agenda it's really low and shameful even if it comes from the lowest scums on earth and not from the ppl. like yourself who supposed to be a Gentleman...or are you?
It is obvious what is your point ....You will push hard as much as you can to close this tread...Truth must be stopped no matter what, right?

The problem is when people cite "obvious truths" with little or no actual evidence. Saying it's true, doesn't make it so. And repeatedly baiting or concern trolling fans of Star Citizen is just as much "cultist" behavior as those who are "prosthelytizing the Great Word of Roberts".

I'm a Star Citizen fan, but I'm not here to sell the game, it's to correct the "obvious truths" which are quite simply, not. Does that make me a "cancerous individual"?

EDIT - Gotta light up the grill and make dinner. I'll check back in an hour; curious to see how much trash-talk is waiting for me.

Meanwhile, the RSI forums try to make sense of the E3 cancellation:

"If Squadron was getting released this year there would be a lot to show at E3. They would be hyping the poo poo out of it. This is a pretty strong signal in my mind that we ain't seeing it this year or early next.

Que sera sera. I can wait but others will be chomping at the bit to tear into CIG for this. I'll take bets on this as well. Not a chance in hell squadron releases this year if they have nothing to show at E3."
I used exactly the same argument months ago in this thread while star citizens tried to convince me that Squadron 42 will release in 2016 for sure and there is "no gameplay footage just because of spoilers". :D

I think, CIG has to put Squadron 42 on hold (delay indefinitely), because the smoothly running money making machine started stuttering during May, assuming the funding charts speak any truth. So monetizing the "PTU" might be the main priority again, instead of the movie.

How exactly are they monetizing the PTU?

How exactly are they monetizing the PTU?

Have they not offered access to the PTU for $10/mo for non-invitees?

Also, the aUEC to speed up the respawn timer. Has anyone from CiG gone on record saying "this is a placeholder mechanic until we implement the LTI correctly. Please be assured we will never charge proper UEC for this when the game goes live..."

I heard it mentioned in this thread earlier, not sure if it is official, or "presumed"?

You arrived here yesterday, fresh just registered on this forum and I been here for 2 years....you are more than welcome to read all my post and to see what I was saying 2 years ago until now....All my concerns about this game from years back until today are been truth and nothing but the truth,I was accurate in 99%of predictions so far, sure I admit sometimes my tongue can be harsh but still I never cross the line even if English is not my native....Here on this forum at least ppl. who think with their own heads could talk about the SC openly(so far)about many subjects and that was not possible to do back on the SC forum even if majority of us are legitemate SC backers........Maybe you are right I don't care that much about SC but I do care for my:

Death will have consequences in the game. It does not matter whether or not you are a lifetime backer or not. Ejecting too often from the ship or get directly killed, means your characters health diminishes. Requiring cybernetics to keep the player alive. Still more "deaths" and not even 30th century cybernetics can keep the body from falling apart and then there will be a funeral.

Of course as a player you will be able to transfer assets to a heir and continue to play with a fresh character. Dread Captain Roberts indeed. :D

No this is not in game yet. It is an interative design process and right now death will only cost a few bucks in alpha currency. As the game gets closer to release I guess with each death it will be more expensive to revive in medical bay, until at some point the player will be forced to use cybernetics, with further cost increases until even that is no longer possible.

That is the planned game play. Of course the Smarties in this thread will scream that as someone who has backed the game I should be entitled to everything, for free in the game, but that is not how it will work.

I am not sad about it, what makes me sad are the people spreading misinformation.

Lol - posting from the grill - is it a wifi grill?

You're still talking about planned things - things that haven't happened. As we've seen much of what CIG say isn't what CIG do (E3 being just the latest example) - why should we believe any of the plans until they are implemented?

(medium rare for me please).
