I will keep bringing this up after every expansion is released. Sorry to be annoying but....

100% agree.

Buying a second account is not a solution. It's a hassle to switch accounts. Also I'd have to buy every expansion twice.

For me the game topped out around getting an A rated Asp Explorer. It was a lot of fun getting to that. I would like to go through it again with a second cmdr slot but I've put hundreds of hours into this cmdr. So I basically just don't play the game much anymore. I think a lot of players are in the same boat as me.

Some might grief, this is a risk. Others might be villains but every story needs a villain so I don't see how this is a bad thing. I think most would try different paths like exploring or trading. I believe it would lead to quite a bit more active players.

Everyone here has paid for an account we are asking for nothing for free.

To clarify when i backed pre-alpha the DDF stated multiple commanders and an ironman mode. These are both promises that have been broken by FD.
You paid for an account, you get a CMDR.

"Stated" Did it also state anywhere that these statements were set in stone, or did it allow for changes along the way?

Also no where has "you pay to have an account supporting 1 CMDR" been stated, i would rather listen to the DDF from FD than a statement that i assume you just made up there? How can you possible argue against something that would make all players in game lives easier, or is it just to create an arguement?

Promised in alpha? There's an oxymoron. This isn't WOW or Guild Wars with multiple players. Here we have 1 player and multiple ships. As it should be.

Wow, it was also promised in the ddf this was a game that had space ships, would it have been a problem if they had sent out roller coaster tycoon?

Again how can any of you argue against something that makes everyones lives easier...

I buy the argument that having just one character is true role-play, immersive, makes it more realistic, and so on. You have one life, use it as best you can. I get it.
But, doesn't that actually really limit one's experience of the game?
For example, I love my character, I'm a bit of a mercenary, a blackguard if you like. I'll try most things, not all of it legal, but my character is not a villain - I don't trade slaves and I don't pirate. This is my role-play - I bounty hunt, I trade, I explore (a little), I complete missions.
But sometimes I do think, actually, I fancy my hand at being a ruthless pirate today (not a griefer!), but a pirate, a thief, a murderer.
Now then, yes, of course I can do this with my one character, but the problem with this is that this is OUT OF CHARACTER, and therefore makes it LESS realistic, not more!
Remember Dungeons & Dragons? I had multiple characters, and this did not take anything away from each individual character I had, nor my role-play enjoyment. Sometimes I was an evil mage, other times a hero-warrior, sometimes a lawless thief. But never, never, was I all these things with the same character.
Of course we should have multiple slots!
And on that note, I don't remember buying additional copies of the D&D books for each character I wanted to play...

I have a deadly combat rank, try buying a d rated sidey and pretending to start again and see what comes interdict you...

Probably 2 or 3 vipers, a vulture, and several anacondas. All at different times, though 1 or 2 may appear at the same time.

Being wanted kind of sucks.... I took my Asp explorer out to the black, but I didn't dare cut my 3A shields or my 5A thrusters. Glad I didn't, I got interdicted 3 times on the way out.

Yes, Liqua. Glad to know you aren't text-deaf (term patent pending). If you're coming from a RP perspective, if you are stuck out in deep space in your beloved ship as a CMDR and then suddenly you poof to Sol in your battle corvette, it's breaking immersion. Bring something to the board next time and not just puerile mockery.
His mockery isn't far off the mark, seeing as an immersion argument makes zero sense. If you want immersion, don't use the feature. Problem solved.

When I said:

I reacted to: "Everyone here has paid for an account we are asking for nothing for free."

You paid for an account, and you got a CMDR. You're now asking for a second CMDR. For free.

Given that you didn't answer:

I take it you realise it was subject to change when you signed up for that.

How can you possible argue against something that would make all players in game lives easier, or is it just to create an argument?
I'm noting that you're arguing as if you're entitled to that extra CMDR slot. I'm arguing against the sentiment: players want it, so FD should implement. I'm sure if you ask whether players would like a refund of half the amount of money they spent on Elite they'd react favourably as well.

So no, I'm not just posting to create an argument. Given the way my post is addressed it would be foolish of me to post with that motivation in mind.

So we are in agreement this is something FD should do?

If i came across as saying i am entitled then that is not what i mean. I backed this game at alpha level as soon as i saw that it was being made regardless of what they did.

However i feel this would be a big improvement to the game. The more positive posts there are the more likely FD are to take note.

WHY CAN WE NOT HAVE MULTIPLE COMMANDERS!!!!!!!

Because Braben hasn't gotten around to it, yet ; or doesnt want to get around to it, ever.

The ED Status Quo group will of course rationalize why having multiple commanders (or anything besides what we already have) would be a bad thing.

But maybe we should take it further and ask, "Why does Braben allow us to have even one commander?" It seems to me there would be a lot less hate and discontent if nobody had a commander. Griefing complaints would be nil. FD, how about it? :)

Sorry but you are wrong. Roll a new novice cmdr and jump into your kitted corvette? A perfect way to totally unbalance the game. I personally hope it never comes to pass.

Repped, the amount of people i see on these forums making ludicrous arguements just to pass the time amazes me!

What difference would it make if i was on this commander or one with a different name, my mind boggles how some of you think... See my comment above, immediate proof!

Yes, we do want a second CMDR for free. We already paid for the game, and some of us have paid 200+ on lifetime passes and some have already spent 120 and may spend upwards of 300 depending on whether they buy the future expansions. This is literally the first open-ended game I have ever run across where you are locked to one save, and this is sure as hell the only game that has the balls to tell you to cough up another 60 dollars if you want to have a second save file. These are features that come package with any game like this. What you are basically saying is "you need to pay again because reasons." Well that's not good enough and I'd sooner hope for Frontier to stop developing this game so that it can be handed to modders that have a clue how games work to give us separate save files.

This!
I cant face a wipe either, however as soon as i have enough for the hull of a conda (10mil short now) i will buy that, mothball it and am starting from scratch - albeit with my rep - in an imperial eagle and 1k credits and then checking out the ships i skipped or did not exist last time

its like a wipe "lite"

That's actually what I am doing right now. XD [up]

What you are basically saying is "you need to pay again because reasons.".
Is that basically what I am saying? Is it really?

Here's what I'm actually am saying: have fun patting each other on the back guys, I'm a little embarrassed by the display, and whatever I say will be read as: "reasons".
And your reasons against a qulaity of life improvement that would help everyone enjoy the game?
Reasons

Reasons

Rather than sarcy comments how about an answer? If you feel other account having another commander slot will adversly affect your game play please state a reason otherwise we can only infer you are doing this to cause an arguement...
