Engineers Frontier needs to make finding materials much easier

there are 2 reasons I can think of for FD to make finding resouces/materials for mods easier.

1. so people with normal lives can play 2 hours a day and get somewhere. I spent from 8am till now (1am) yep 17 hours today..im tired. looking for conductive components. no luck..i wasted 17 hours and had to sell my samarium to try nav sites as someone suggested so I don't get attacked. I still got attacked..no cargo ships either.

2. there are soo many posts on this site from people who need to find materials and cant as they are stupidly impossible to source, less posts would make following posts easier.

please FD listen to this ease up on the insanity...

I have found it easy enough, so I dont second your idea of saying stupidly and imposible.

I do also have two hours a day to play.

and id add: Ask for help first, before saying something has to be changed if it is working for other players.

This dosn't need to be easier.
Ship destruction related material are really straighforward.
The problem is more that SOME type of material have to share drop rate with other types making the collect tedious as hell.
The likelihood of some material dosn't scale with the task required also (surface scan).

I do second your idea, most of the weekend trying to find a specific material with no luck. I gave up after that because even if I had managed to find it the RNG rolls I received were so horrible I got a downgrade each time. Until you get to lvl 4/5 there seems no point to the dice rolls except to waste materials and get you to the point you might receive something vaguely beneficial.

This only becomes an issue when you are looking for a neddle. Just do surface material gathering one hour and you will have for a few different module upgrades and not just one - just as an example -. If you need to look for something very specific then you are more likely to spend a lot of time until someone finds out how to exactly get that specific in a record time (would not hold my breath as there is always some randomness around).

I disagree with the bit of getting level 4 or 5. I got some modules to level 2 and 3 and they are much better than before. Upgrades are not necessary, don't make the mistake of thinking they are.

They weren't upgrades, that was my point. Lvl 2/3 'upgrades' were so poor I scrapped them immediately. Your experience of RNGineers may not be the same as others including mine.

Conductive components come from haulage vessels, so go to an anarchy with a FSD interdictor and pull haulage vessels out of supercruise and kill them.

I too have a demanding job and a busy lif so 2 hours a day...is an absolute maximum for me!
But if anything the requirements for Engineer Mods seems a little TOO easy to me!
After visiting Felicity Farseer Tuesday to find out about FSD upgrades - I discovered the only thing I needed for a Tier 2 unlock were some Frameshift Wake Scans...
I already had the rest from Missions/RES zones over the weekend...when I wasn't even thinking about Engineers except in the "grab anything tagged as rare after combat" sense...
An hour later...a Wake Scanner Fitted and a bit of time hanging around outside the station...and I was good to go...
SO Engineer Mods are supposed to be scarce and desirable...but I'd already got to Level 2 in a casual and undirected Fashion...
Just how MUCH easier to people want them to be?
Besides...what's the drive to unlock the higher tiers STRAIGHT AWAY for anyway?
I'd love a Tier 5 FSD upgrade for exploring...but I'm quite happy for it to come along in its own good time...rather than abandoning every other aspect of gameplay...merely to grind towards that equipment acquisition goal...

Finding materials is easy, but it takes too long and isn't predictable. I should know that if i go there and do that i will get this material instead of current you might found these here. No way i should spent hours to find something i need. 20 min max for one material i need. So if engineer need 5 materials it would take about 100 min to find stuff for one roll.

Wise words.

In 10 hours of "playing" I have found only 1 polonium and no modular terminal...

The problem is also that ship destruction material suddenly asks you to do everything: kill pirates, kill police, kill military, kill traders. It wants me to be a psychopath, not follow any deliberate path I have chosen.

incorrect, you can find them abandoned after a crash in planets, or as rewards for missions, including mining missions.

Like jasonbirder I haven't found it onerous to pick up materials for upgrades.

I visited an engineer just after the update and got a blueprint for the upgrade I wanted. The chemical materials I already have plenty of just from SRV exploration. The other item is a manfactured material. I then went back to the hangover CG for the rest of the week. The only thing I did differently was to fly relatively slowly from dropin to station, checking all the USS's on the way. I dropped into all the degraded emission signals where I found plenty of materials and within an hour I had the one I needed. I also picked out weapons fire, threat 1, which is usually one easy wanted ship and an authority ship as backup. Killing that gave me some more materials.

By the end of the week I have a nice payout coming from the CG and enough materials for 8 dice rolls on the upgrade I wanted, plus a load more materials and data scans that will undoubtedly come in useful at some stage. I know the higher level requirements will be harder to get, but I am not abandoning all my regular gameplay to hunt for them all immediately. The Engineers add another layer of interest to the game for me, which I expect to keep me occupied for a long time to come. I really don't understand the whiners who were complaining about not being able to install all the highest level upgrades within hours of 2.1 landing (not a dig at the OP).

Sorry OP but I disagree, even though there are things I cannot find, making it easier would not make it better imo.

I performed a lvl 5 FSD range upgrade yesterday while I already had the polonium, the rest was quite easy to find in a few hours. There are spreadsheets that give you locations for material hunting as I did not have that hard of a time finding polonium when I looked in the right places (had to stock up for Distant Worlds) I can't link it right now but if someone has it or I'll link it when at PC.

Also the RND gods were on my side and rolled a max FSD range upgrade! DBX with exploration fit can hit over 50lys for a max range jump.

Try finding Exquisite Focus Crystals or Modified Consumer Firmware. I've been looking for DAYS. 14 hours a day, too! Nothing!

Only crashed ships on planets, not wrecks in space? And these crashed ships are now procedurally generated, not just rare and static objects?
