Powerplay So FDev have announced Archon Delaine will Collapse

He lost , and lets be honest FD have been soft on him.
He was ment to go a long time ago but did not due to a bug or something like that

Do criminals need one unified voice? and maybe a better leader will rise, maybe it will be your black omega?

Not a bug, the collapse mechanic/process wasn't in yet. What has that got to do with now?

Just for those who don't have the time to read through the topic:

It's been clarified that we're not collapsing, it was a reference to past events.
So you're not rid of us yet. ;)

Archon Delaine is far from my favourite but I think we should have at least one major criminal power representing Pegasii in PP :)

I'd rather see one of the Imp powers like Grandma Torval or Creep Patreus collapse. :)

This.
We need someone "evil" in Elite. What remains when Archon fails? Nine powers that all try to be as good-hearted and as friendly-looking as possible? Archon is the only true 100% villain of Elite Dangerous, he needs to either stay, or be replaced by a very similar organisation - for the sake of variety at least.

Hello Commander Apos!

Since collapse is currently not active, no-one has anything to worry about.

when collapse goes active we'll let everyone know, and the first power to collapse will do so according to the rules.

None of this affects, or is mechanically affected by the fact that Archon happens to have been singled out in a news report.

This news report does not prove that Archon is doomed, nor, by absence, prove that other powers are safe or have never flirted with collapse conditions.

Hello Commander Fergal!

So no power can collapse until the Dangerous Games are over, so trying to get expansions right now is a waste of effort, and the best strategy is to lose 30-35 of Delaines Control systems, slashing his overhead and default upkeep costs, enabling 10 preparations per cycle in the actual danger period?

It practically impossible for Delaine (or Antal) to get out of the bottom 3, so there really isn't anything to lose to go back down to 15 control systems, particularly since Turmoil and losing system has nothing to do with collapse.

Collapse may become active before the Dangerous Games complete, and is not tied to them (i.e. once it's active then powers become at risk regardless).

If Archon's pledges want to let his power base shrink down to a tiny size and lose systems, potentially to other powers, well, that's up to them. In the long run, powers will succeed and fail by the will of the pledges.

I'd say that Delaine is more moral than Hudson to be fair.

Hello Commander Rubbernuke!

I believe the intention is that as soon as a power is in the bottom three and fails to expand during a cycle there will be a clear collapse warning indicator, which will likely show the number of cycles since the collapse warning appeared.

However, at the moment the idea is once the power is in to cycle three of collapse warning, each next cycle might be the last one, and past cycle 6 it's basically guaranteed. The collapse itself will also take a few cycles to complete.

Some of these numbers might change a bit, but that's the basic intent.

Thanks for the other answers Sandro (I'm actually wonder what hat you have on right now) but can we get a little bit more clarification?
You say collapse is currently not active, is that because no-one has hit the collapse "trigger" or there is no criteria to trigger at this time.

Or to put it another way, will collapse go active at the same point (or the week before) that a power is going to collapse, or will there be an announcement "Powers can now collapse" and then several weeks later a power may meet the criteria.

Nice! Thanks very much for the detail Sandro!

Last question!

You say 'The collapse itself will also take a few cycles to complete'- is this part irreversible? Is this where the systems in the collapsing power are off limits?

What will happen to the power once it collapses? I think it would be fair to at least leave it as a controlling minor faction in the space it previously owned as a power.
Simply wiping off any trace of a faction from the universe would be pretty ridiculous, because you're dealing with real players that supported their power for months here.

This is the information I have been after.

Now, I'm off to calm down and never post here again.

I imagine they will have a Galnet Article about Someone cutting of Delaines head, but that doesn't mean there shouldn't be a Kumo Crew minor faction somewhere in the pegasi sector

Hello Commander fergal!

Collapse isn't quite ready to go live (I think a couple of powers over time have at least temporarily hit the collapse triggers in the past).

When it's ready, we will hopefully announce it before we pull the trigger, so that everyone has a fighting chance to get their power into shape. We don't want to use the introduction of collapse to target and remove a power (though it is still possible that a power gets unlucky in the timing!)

Currently I'm hatless and staring at S P A C E L O A C H .

Appreciate some of the clarity in this thread. Thank you Sandro. It's a little like Christmas.
