I'm glad to see that you have stopped claiming that people playing in open have consented to piracy game-play. At last we are getting somewhere...

I never claimed that people consented to it, it's acquiescence and I made that clear a while ago.

Edit:

People consented to the possibility or the potential of it happening, and acquiesced when it happens.

Unfortunately I think we all know who needs to "relax," it's the person that think telling another person to "get over it" as an argument somehow strengthen the case.

Totally missed everything. And you're normally so good at reading, interpreting and answering responses. My bad, maybe I should have used italics to make it easier for you.

Or maybe you shouldnt be so hung up on 'get over it'

What has been made abundantly clear is that you redefine words to mean whatever you like, whenever it enables you to avoid addressing the topic at hand. You know full well that this 'acquiescence' is a fiction, since nothing ensures that players have even heard of whatever vague unwritten rules about gameplay you claim that they 'acquiesce' or consent to.

Maybe you shouldn't have used that unproductive phrase to begin with, then? It doesn't contribute to the discussion.

It's the possibility of being pirated realized, since people gave consent to the potentiality of piracy by playing in Open, by players and NPCs alike. People can log if they want to, but if it's a player, then they are disrespecting the player unless there's some actual emergency.

Acquiesce is more accurate, since coercion is too general and invite misunderstanding.

What win is there in no cargo? What part of piracy doesn't win through the target being blown up or magically disappear do you not understand?

What ever. I don't see it but, you get to choose your own words.

What I understand is that player on player piracy is dependent on cooperation. Cooperation that can't be forced for all of the reasons layed out for you ad infinitum. Just as FD have said that piracy is a legitimate career, they have said each mode is equal, and that players get to choose whom they play alongside. What proclamation(s) have to be subverted in order for you to have your way? The situation has painted itself into a corner.

I'd favor a 30-second delay instead of 15 or 60+ seconds. 30 seconds is enough time to destroy someone who's attempting to combat log, and short enough for the rest who just happens to be in combat zone but are not engaging combat anymore, and just wishes to exit to menu, or those who got disconnected.

Also when playing in Open, accept the fact that any CMDR can fire on you. Even within station premises. So better have a good defensive ship build and attitude to prepare on such cases, although in reality, it happens very rarely unless you go to known places where there's PvP going like in CGs. Just chalk it to experience if you get the short stick.

Piracy isn't cooperation, the best scenario or outcome is cooperation. Victim player reserves the right to flee, fight back, or comply, but not escape through out of game mechanics meant for bug fixing, because there's no counter play. That's why it breaks the player piracy/bounty hunting mechanics, because there's an escape option with no counter play.

It's not combat logging. It's exit to menu. Big difference that is entirely legitimate.

"people gave consent to the potentiality of piracy by playing in Open"? Nope. An outright lie. Repeating the same drivel again and again in different words doesn't make it the truth.

And still not addressing the points, you're going to make a great politician.

I'm ignoring until you bring actual discussion and reasoned points to the table.

Well, claiming it is false with no supporting evidence is meaningless at best.

All legitimate game play have the possibility of occurring and players consent to those potentialities when engaging in Open play.

Don't be obtuse. I'm not talking about the act of piracy, I'm talking about putting themselves, willingly, into the position to be pirated. Any attempts to strengthen the grip of a pirate will just make more combat loggers, or fewer players in open.

My touch screen decided to vote option 2. I wanted to vote option 4, for the simple reason that when the doorbell or phone goes, or I spill something, I really do not want to be faffing around waiting for a game to go into its only real pause state.

Vote changed as requested :)

The supporting evidence is the complete lack of any evidence that purchasing the game and clicking on a menu item constitutes 'consent' to anything. This claim has been made repeatedly, without the slightest evidence that any such 'consent' is a requirement to playing in open mode. <provide your evidence>...

It's precisely that people don't want to put themselves into the position of being pirated that makes piracy legitimate, since otherwise it's scripted. Just as a pirate doesn't want to be in a position of being hunted.

Trader wants profit but not pirates, pirates want traders and not bounty hunters, bounty hunters want traders for escort and pirates to potentially gain bounty vouchers.

Already provided evidence in the edit, and your idea of consent applies only to explicit items, it's an argument that can be used for everything and anything.

"I gave no consent to be born into this world yet I was."

It's a contrived argument.

Aaaaannnd. My way or the highway. No wonder there's such animosity between the groups.

Hey, if there's any points you want to introduce, show me.

Vacuous blather. You claimed that consent was given. You offer no proof. Because none exists. It is a lie. Peddle your fiction somewhere else...

I already put the evidence in the edit, it's not my fault that you don't want to read it, nor read Locke's writing about tacit consent.

You have moved off into another word puzzle. I won't be joining you. I've made my position clear by now. Good luck out there.
