Players have forgotten a fundamental concept, and that's why they're complaining about the difficulty.

What a load of utter garbage. If I stick to Hi Sec systems, I *never* get interdicted, & the only time I engage in combat in said systems is when I choose to drop out at a USS. In Hi Sec systems I can also count on a *lot* of support from local security too. My only interdictions have occurred in low or anarchy systems. That is why these "tales of woe" sound more like credit farmers who are deliberately exaggerating their plight to garner faux sympathy. Show video evidence of these issues, or else I will continue to call "bulls**t" on your claims.

Eh? Where did I complain about interdictions? Call nursey.

And they can still have that experience, just not while watching netflix.

That's just dismissive and intolerant. You toss out a stereotype and expect it to impact a discussion. I am a convert. I'm a Deadly +95% ranked player who seeks a better challenge but, I can give way for a group of players not seeking that challenge. Especially if there are known locations, Hazardous RES and CZ's, in which to find that challenge. I don't expect everyone to meet my standards, I can let other players plonk all they want.

Interdictions are quite common to a lot of people, myself included. Just because you don't experience them doesn't mean others don't either. Oh, and I don't mean in anarchy or "low" systems either. While I never have gotten interdicted in a place like SOL, it happens everywhere else that I've visited.

Windscreen smudge is one of about a dozen destructive people on these boards who are rude and intolerant, but cautious enough to never quite cross that line and be banned or sanctioned. They push the envelope, but the mods know who they are.

So then what's your issue with what I've said?

Experienced traders have been all over these forums saying they're doing fine, they just aren't leaving their family jewels hanging out while flying across the galaxy for anyone to grab onto. Go back and fact check all of these complaints. Ask them where they were flying, what they were flying, how they were doing it, etc...

Majority of the time it's player error. People just aren't calling them on it because trading, exploring, etc... has been associated with people who just don't want to learn basic things about how the game works, so people assume that these players shouldn't be required to learn things about how your interdiction rate is affected, how to actually fly your ship using both hands, how to fit your ship so that when you do get caught you aren't just a helpless loot pinata, etc....

I haven't come across one person yet who said they were having an unreasonable amount of difficulty with the new AI that I didn't also find out were making some really, really bad mistakes which, if I were in their shoes, I would set as a deliberate handicap to make my experience harder.

These people don't need to blame the game for all of their woes, they just need to ask what they're doing wrong and how to fix it. Dozens of people on this forum will trip over each other to help them. However, as long as they're pointing fingers I will be more than happy to redirect that accusation right back at them.

That's all well and good but, what about the issue at hand? I can handle a internet personality. Why should combat be the deciding factor if people play the game? That's why I play but, it doesn't have to everyone's. Give me a place, CZ's/RES's, where I can find the challenge I seek but, leave room for those who are not interested in fighting their way through the game. We can have it both ways.

I will believe them when I see video evidence. Just like with the insta kill bug. People can "claim" a lot of things.....doesn't make it true though.

Come on now, invalidate my points with facts if they're wrong, don't just Ad Hominem your way out of a valid explanation.

I see a very different response. We filter the information received differently. With that I don't seek to have everyone play to my tastes and standards. I can accept that many people just want a pleasurable experience flying in space. I can live with that. No one has to prove to me how tough they are in a video game.

My mind has been changed by the discussions I've read here on the forums. Give me a place, RES/CZ's, to find the challenge I'm after, and let others go about their gaming.

Well, I can't say anything about the interdictions myself, but there was a boatload of video evidence posted on the AI weapon bug thread showing pulse railguns and multi-plasmas.

Fact:

Can't have fun without Risk vs. Reward. It's part of human nature. You can occupy yourself in an engaging manner, but you won't have fun.

That sounds like you are unwilling to accept that others feel differently. Typing "Fact:" doesn't make it so. But, you know that, being an intelligent, thoughtful person.

Actually that's what I'd like to point out. I haven't been stalking you on the forums or anything but I'm pretty sure you're not filtering anything and just taking it all at face value. Try asking some questions, you might be surprised about what you learn.

We already have our spots to pew pew in, and traders have their safe routes they can run without worrying about constant interference. They just thought that that spot was pretty much everywhere, while flying anything, because the AI was broken until recently.

I'm still waiting for some maths from you surrounding game theory and your own theory.

I'd better forewarn you though - I am a mathematician.

Off you go. Go:

You did say it had a maths basis and you could prove it. Show me some maths.

No, it's a fact, I'm just calling into question their use of the word fun when what they really meant to say was "entertainment".

I can entertain myself by following a series of youtube videos until I'm watching ads for Malaysian jewelry recorded in front of bad cardboard backdrops. It's not fun, but it does keep me occupied for a while and on some level I can say I was being entertained. Fun involves either a sense of accomplishment or reward, and in the context of games the reward is given value by putting it in a juxtaposition with a sense of risk.

Some games can make themselves fun through interactive humor or intellectual puzzles too, but I'm pretty sure none of us are going to argue that ED falls into that category, are we?

I accept that logic symbols, logical quantifiers etc., aren't coded for on these boards, but I will understand.

Thx

Windscreen is one of the "git gudders".

There's no arguing with him; he presumes his opinion on subjective matters is objectively true.

OH HO! Really? A mathematician who isn't familiar with the Prisoner's Dilemma?

I'm going to start you off easy with a wikipedia link. After you measure out your own rope and tie a noose in it with your reply I'm going to drown you in white papers to build a gallows. When you've walked up on the gallows and put the noose around your neck with your next reply I'm going to give you a hood and a stool to stand on by applying all of the white papers to gaming in general and ED in particular, and then you can finish hanging yourself.

Edit: Oh, that's right, I forgot the link I got so excited.
