I don't think this is fair.

Ok I'll bite.
Just what is the lore that explains resurrection?

We are not 'ressurected' nor are we killed, our ships are destroyed and our remlok suits activate immediatedly as we eject from the cockpit, then an emergency beacon in the suit is activated automatically and the closest non agressor ship collects us and we are delivered back to the last dock where departed from.

Do not ask about how this works far out in the rim, perhaps the remlock puts our bodies into stasis until we can be rescued...

The automatic bio management and emergency beacon systems of the remlok suit are documented in elite lore.

And how exactly do you fine and collect said fine from a corpse?

If I died then they'd never collect on the fine so it seems pointless to issue it AND the risk of losing cargo to an exploded ship was THEIR risk to accept.

But apparently I magically resurrected so it's ok to fine me.

Tend to agree with the OP here, though I suppose for "gaming" reasons (obviously not simulation reasons) you need to be fined as a deterrent from biting off more than you can chew.

We don't die in Elite Dangerous.

The bottom line is the more missions you stack, the more likely you are to be interdicted, the more you get interdicted the more likely you are to get destroyed. It is I guess a risk and reward thing. The more risk you are willing to take on, the more reward you will pick up.

I'd just say this.

Ah I see. So you can't be killed in ED. That seems pretty realistic as does the time travel portion of this mechanic.
