Horizons Desperation. info needed fast.

Hi all, got a lucrative deal to deliver gold to Wellman oasis (planet port) in Arnaqu.
I'm in Arnaqu system but there are no planets there. There is Richards Port, not attached to a planet.
There are 2 stars there, but no planets.
I have 22 hours in the timer to deliver the cargo. Or I might be history.
Can anybody please help.
:S

Sorry, not a clue, but if you are absolutely sure that there are no planets, submit a ticket.

Cheers Cmdr's

Found a gas giant Arnaqu 10 A but still no Wellman Oasis. Gonna submit ticket.

You have used a discovery scanner on the system, right?

Also, try dropping out by the nav beacon and scan that too.

Maybe you are onto something
there. I tried to buy a planetary scanner before I travelled to the sytem, but it ended up being a second " basic discovery scanner." (Is this what you mean?)
Tell me, is that my problem? Do I have to have a planetary scanner to see a landable planet?
Only got Horizons last night.

Yes, I saw that, and it would seem that Richards port orbits Arnaqu, but Arnaqu is a gas giant so it can't have surface ports.
Wellman Oasis is a planetary port as far as I can tell, so there should be another planet somewhere. (But with the same name?)

Okay.. It's on Arnaqu A 9 A.

Look in the system map, it's the companion to the ninth planet around the main star. You should see that while all the other landable planets have blue crescents around them, this one has a blue crescent with some spiky bits at the top.
That means settlements.

When you get within 60ls you wlll automatically scan it and the oasis will show up. :)

System Map only shows 2 stars and the gas giant Arnaqu A 10 and Richards Port.

There is nothing else shown.

maybe you can email me a copy of your map or private message thingy. Maybe?

Maybe this is a real glitch. Our maps should be identical.

You really need to discovery scan the system.

It's fine, It's 6 am here and too muggy to sleep anyway. :)

  • Basic Discovery Scanner - Has a 500 LS range and costs 1,000 CR
  • Intermediate Discovery Scanner - Has a 1,000 LS range and costs 505,000 CR
  • Advanced Discovery Scanner - Has a system-wide range and costs 1,545,000 CR

The planet is 800 and some light seconds out, so yes you do.

Find the navigation beacon near the main star.
Target it, then travel to it then slow and disengage jump drive.

You will still see the target circle, get it, then look for a grey square (or use the contacts panel).
Fly close to the object and Target the grey square.
When you're close enough the scanner will trigger - just like a scan of another ship.

That will give you all the data you need.

Unfortunately, the process isn't quite as simple as the phrase "scan the nav beacon " suggests because the targeting circle doesn't show the exact location of the beacon.

Fly casual

Thanks for the help. Gotta leave this system to get the adv. scanner.

You do not even need a basic discovery scanner (it's handy though). Drop at the Nav Beacon select it as target and your normal sensor module will scan it. That will give you the same info as the the advanced discovery scanner. All inhabited systems have a Nav Beacon AFAIK. Only down side: sometimes there are pirates at Nav Beacons so scan quickly and get out if your ship is not combat capable.

Heh... you're running the Horizons versions of ED aren't you?
(Blue launcher)

Can't go down to planets using the regular version. (Orange launcher)....

Bit late to the party...
