Put me down for 3:42p.m.
I have a meeting that finishes at 3:30, should take me about ten minutes to type something really bad and then report myself for it... Not that I plan on fixing the result!
Back on topic: There are many groups in the game that do a sterling job for their members and other players whom I am sure FD will get round to giving some love for their contributions.
One lesson I have learned that I live my life by and I think would serve well to be repeated here:
Be happy for those around you and your own well-being will follow!

if someone in your company does his job very well and get rewarded from the administration, you step up with the argument that when one is rewarded, every other employee should be rewarded, too?

Yeah, but like I said - you never even see them on other people's ship! The nature of the game means that paint jobs are often not even obvious -decals, you've got no chance. They're a waste of space so I really wonder why anyone cares that much.

Alltough I do have to say it is starting to get really annoying that FD only makes exclusive decals, its good they exist and all that, but with the expection of the decals on the onienhead painjob which is now quite a long time ago they only ever do decals a normal mortal player like me can't get. Throw a average player a bone once in a while FD!

Maybe companies would not like having their brand associated with the actions of some player groups that like to post videos of their exploits on YouTube.
Using the "but it happens in other games" argument presupposes that Frontier would make the same decisions as the other Developer / Publisher - so far, they have not.
From memory, Michael commented on this in a recent stream - it was not a "Yes".

It depresses me that a significant portion of this community seem fuelled by jealousy, as though it's a zero-sum game and somebody else getting something somehow diminishes their own pile of stuff.
The older part of the game's demographic will no doubt recognise that particular attitude, from their own small children.

Just for background, in pre-beta there was a poll and discussion about the game hosting real sponsorship - e.g. to apply to in-game billboards <pick a soda manufacturer of your choice>.
The poll was positively against any such, and FDev indicated the subject was closed.

Well fair enough. I didn't know of any FD comment on the matter. Had I known about FD's comment, my reaction to all this would have been different.
I still say FD needs to sell emblem packs, that they produce in-house. Why we can't have superpower emblems on our ships I really don't understand. I think a lot of people would be happy with just that. I'd take an Alliance emblem.
Allow me to take this opportunity to apologise for my abhorrent & unwarranted behaviour in this thread. I got emotional again. I got so because of how much I adore this game. I'll take this opportunity to retire from the discussion. My continued presence would only cause further tension, which I would rather avoid.

Hey if anyone's abhorrent here it's probably me, the way the OP phrased his post got me far too angry for what it was worth.
But also I agree that custom made decals would indeed be nice! (Perhaps a wider selection, ey, FD? ;D) but sadly FD's declarations are what they are.

I demand a high quality screenshot from the fuel rat decal now. Preferably on a skin that grants it better colours.

Not to mention that FD will need to manage access to each decal on an ongoing basis.

Not really. Ingame group mechanics (which are what are needed if they want to continue down this road) would make for simple administration.
