UAs, Barnacles & More Thread 6 - The Canonn

I've been to XI Persei or Menkib, as it's called in game. The system has no planets, if I remember it correctly. I didn't bring any MA, cause we hadn't found them yet. I didn't bring an UA either. I was looking for one.

I have also been to menkib and I can confirm just a B star.

Looked for signal sources but nothing for 20mins.

Well - we have to find those probes, don't we? It took us nearly a month to find an UA. We should be better now.

If the UP is a continuation of the UA story, sort of an UA MKII, my first choice as a key system is Pleione. This idea stands or falls depending on the level of revisionism carried out by FD history department.

I'll start with the facts:

- About 50 years ago there was contact and communication with Thargoids. Soontil was discussed. Galnet source: https://community.elitedangerous.com/galnet/18-MAY-3301

What used to be facts and might still be:

- About 50 years ago, Mic Turner made contact with a Thargoid ship in Pleione, on behalf of the Alliance. Communication was possible for Turner, because he had an inter species translator installed on his ship. Both Turner and the Thargoid ship were destroyed by INRA. All this happened before there was any player involvement in the Thargoid story in FFE. No branching had yet occurred.

The hypothesis would then be if UAs are monitoring the end events of the Thargoid war about 150 years ago, then the UP might monitor the events that happened 50 years ago. That would give a shell of about 40-50ly around Pleione.

The problem is of course why not use a regular UA, if you want to do the same thing over again.

Perhaps the UPs are ground probes? I don't know?

Still, all I have is Pleione.

It's a double and they're not showing on the wave scanner! I just relogged and they're still there.

please provide some detailed Informatin of the planet you found them on.
did you search for Barnacles, or was that just by chance ?

Holy **** I just checked. they in a way that they ACTUALLY make a triangle. This is big news. But there are loads of systems in that triangle...

But, what makes you think they can't be in other nebulae as well?

Im not really happy about this, I have been driving around witchhead for over a week, looking at my scanner the whole time.

To make this worse this isnt the first time this has happened either. When the trailer with the barnacles first dropped all of us were in Pleiades and were crashing on a POI for like 2 days, then there was a serverhotfix and bam random Frenchmen randomly finds a Barnacle on the very same planet where we were crashing.

Now this, I choose to not go to the California neb and figured i would search elsewhere and i chose the Witchhead. I could have driven right past it, stuff like this really kills me.

I have a feeling that we'll find unkown probes on the ground. A lot of the changes and mysteries seem to designed to push players to participate in parts of the game they haven't before. Then again we already have barnacles on the ground, so maybe not.

Any three non-colinear points in space make a flat triangle as well as define a plane. Now, if it's an equilateral or isosceles triangle that's a little more suspicious.

Edit: In flat euclidean space. Things are different if we're talking about curved spacetimes.

You need 6 points to find a position in 3d space, 7 to plot a course.
