Thrustmaster to develop a HOTAS in conjuction with FD

I have a T-Flight, but I use a Logitech joystick with the T.Flight throttle as it has a LOT more buttons to define.

I got around that by multi-tasking the buttons on the throttle to the hat on the stick - so the square button controls targeting ships (left right) and subsystems (up down), while the X button is used for chaff, shield cells, heat sinks and lights (made it lights because it used to be silent running but I found I accidentally end up hitting it far too often!) The circle is still unconfigured so I could add another batch of four features that way.

I also ended up adding a numeric keypad to the throttle just so I had access to a plethora of other buttons as well (galaxy map, system map, head tracking recentering, comm buttons, orbit lines on/off, silent running etc...)

So I guess I don't need the new joystick...

...but I wants it.

Same argument I'll use on the wife. Except, I'll just order it without telling her. As I pick up the mail she'll never know. Mu-hahahahaha.

I just bought a DEEBOL 46-key pad to sit between my joystick and throttle for the extra commands I need. Works well, but I'll have to find another use for that now.

The game cost me about euro 100,00 gladly payed; but the other "things" are breaking my bank account
Welcome to my nightmare.

Numerous PC upgrades, GTX 980Ti 6GB Gaming, HTC Vive, Thrustmaster HOTAS, DEEBOL keyboard, gaming mouse and a completely new gaming rig I'm going to build once the AMD Zen chips come out.

And not one single regret. :D

My wife often says "I'm not even going to ask how much that lot cost"

I spent almost £3k last year on a gaming laptop, now replaced by a PC for almost as much, Astro A50 mixamp/headphones, an Xbox one elite controller and most recently a CV1.

Oh yes and a xbox one which is now a glorified blu ray player relegated to the bedroom

Then I get "but we need this doing and that doing" - yes love but that's just some hardwood flooring (for example) this is 'another world' lol

It's only money and we can't take it with us as they say

Great news!

My x55 buttons is starting to failing on the throttle and sticks jaw friction is so annoying.

I was thinking about buying a Warthog, but it is so expensive and no jaw in the stick. So I think I will wait and see what this one will be like :)

It's true that they're expensive, but chances are you'll never have to buy another stick (and I have a box of broken/worn out sticks) And you can map a keypress and use the stick for yaw. Though not at the same time as bank, obviously.

It would be nice if, even though it is not a high end entry, the chassis could have had some modularity, with places reserved in the mould, on all axes, for mounting optional hydraulic dampeners, for those of us who'd like to forego the friction screw for something smoother. :7

Back on topic, I'm a little disappointed by that Thrustmaster, I'd hoped to see something a little more high end from them and not something plastic. Can't say I would find the amount of buttons on the base of the stick to be a great idea, particularly in combat where my hand is firmly on my stick at all times. Personally I think those buttons would be better placed on the throttle.

Agree on all points. I might consider this but only if it's a significant upgrade from my HOTAS X which isn't perfect but doesn't really have much wrong with it either (the creaky stick I can live with). In fact I would be nervous about replacing it as it fits my hands perfectly. I would just like something less plasticky without breaking the bank but with greater longevity than a Saitek product. The shape of the T.Flight's base isn't conducive to mounting on brackets etc. either.

Supposedly TM are developing a new Warthog-level HOTAS, timeframe unknown.

which chair is that?!?!

I'd really like a spacesim optimized controller, especially if its built by Thrustmaster... The problem is, that i recently got a Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS. Once you touch that piece of hardware, every plastic made controller, regardless of quality and function, feels like a kids toy in comparison.
I hope they built a spacesim replacement stick for the Warthog base... (as the base is already compatible with the cougar stick).

Can't wait to see what this will be like. Developed with VR in mind.

great to have some competition in this price bracket

infact this will undercut the X56 by quite a margin.

I am glad, given the new saitek x56 has the same ropey wiring loom of the X55.

hopefully because it is made by thrustmaster it will be made better and last longer than the madcatz stuff. The Warthog was always a bit rich for my blood and had no twist yaw. I have no room for pedals on my current racing/flight setup.

hmmm

functionality wise, it looks spot on.

gotta admit tho, it screams of cheap plastic

should not judge a book by its cover tho i guess, so long as the guts are good.

I just noticed, they are using the same seat I use, the playseat airforce.

and i can tell you this much, the way they have that stick mounted is HORRIBLE the guy with the rift using the stick on the right, it is so low down, (admittedly I am tall but still.......) I had to raise my stick up by probably 12 inches.

I rate the T.16000M highly as a stick.

It looks better than the previous T.16000M that it is based on - yes, it's plasticky - but it works.

The guts are good, in my experience.

The best news about this, for me with my X55, is that FD may well introduce a twist grip animation for yaw. And maybe they'll give an animation option for the throttle working with a forward/reverse switch at the same time.

Where did you read that if you don't mind me asking? I hope its an optional animation!

"is that FD may well introduce" - conjecture, speculation, call it what you will! ;) But logic would say that if they are developing this stick with Thrustmaster and selling as an ED stick then surely they would want to represent it in game, no? One would think anyway.
