Hmm.. I didn't know paperclips were an effective means of propulsion. Rubber band launcher?

Now, there's a giant permit wall blocking this area in 2.1, but on the CNE we found a few paths in. In fact, the main one is via the Witch Head Nebula, where more barnacles were recently discovered.

Either that or I found a chain of named systems that very few CMDRs have even noticed?

Ok so now's a good time for an update on my looking into the 'corridor' of B type stars between Pleiades and California. I did the same search for a corridor between Pleiades and Witch Head Nebula and also got a result, and followed it further into Orion. Then I checked for a connection between Barnards loop and caifornia. I did find one but it was much thinner and weaker as a link than the Pleiades to California, and the Pleiades to Orion corridors. To check for confirmation bias, I looked at Elephant's trunk nebula and found a connection with both it's nebulous neighbours, again much weaker and thinner, even thinner than the Barnrds to California connection.
So it seems that the density of B types is higher in these corridors between Pleiades and Barnards and California. It would be interesting to see if these correspond to the paths through through the permit locks. I'll be doing this on my next trip out after I've come and done some repairs after a few canyon running mishaps and a honey trap SS.

Honestly I think that these things could be done a little better. I havent given it much thought but it is a little confusing especially for newer players. Us veterans can quickly figure out what is what but there are lots of people who are probably assuming that there is a way to get in those systems it is just a secret.
But I also think that the explanation that you mention would be enough to not break immersion. Or something similar. Im not really a fan of invisible walls, without explanations in the story.

Also, keep in mind that Thargoids, If I heard correctly, are inter-dimensional beings. They could literally come in under our noses if they wanted to.
You are right. MB said that here: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...6-The-Canonn?p=4089751&viewfull=1#post4089751
If you look through some of the code, you can see the different major factions.. This includes Federation, empire, Thargoids, but it also makes mention of an undefined faction...I am keeping that in Mind.
But another Comment David Braben gave during an Interview for a news Article is throwing this up a bit.
He was asked about there being other Aliens besides Thargoids to Discover.
Which he Answered Positively.
Of course his Answer was very General so we dont even know if its supposed to be Animals on Planets later on.
Or something remotely Intelligent.
But its enough to know that an Entire Locked off Sector has quite a bit of Potential for Speculation
Thanks for Confirmation.
Still very Uncool.
There would have been better Ways to do stuff like this....
cant give it away just yet.... but myself and and a few other people have spent a few days researching... and we are 99% sure we have figured it all out. the connections weve made between certain things is to much to be just straight coincidence.. and might i say very creative. i think when people figure it out they to will be surprised... #winteriscoming![]()
Yet another just-joined-the-other-day poster comes and claims he and his friends have solved everything.
Yeah, that I believe.
But we can't completely rule out that he might actually be getting somewhere but wants to make sure 100% that it is in the right direction... Although I must say his method of announcing it isn't exactly the greatest ever..Only thing they cracked is docking at a station.

Either that or I found a chain of named systems that very few CMDRs have even noticed? But it seems unlikely, the conflicts on EDSM indicate something more, I feel.
So I got this reply from support regarding our attempts to disable the capital ship over Merope 2A.... Interesting..... Anyone remember how Thargoids are believed to reside in witchspace, which just so happens to be what capital ships use to jump large distances rather than hyperspace? Coincidence? I think not.

I also found it funny how in the reply they said that it can't be destroyed for the moment.. Foreshadowing for the immediate future?

Brooks said that Capital ships use the same thing normal ships use. Just that there so big they make more of an entrance.
That's very interesting. Note that the "... Orionis" are real life star names; those are "named" systems as well. One possible explanation for this is that FD may have discovered some mistakes in the game positions of these real stars and have now corrected them (there are about 144,000 real life stars in ED, and they are in the correct positions as far as possible, though mistakes have been found in the past). They may have decided it was better to rename the old systems and create new systems in the correct position. Since the old systems were positioned by hand they would not have been able to revert them to the usual generated names.
It seems unlikely that FD would move existing systems for the purposes of adding content. I can't think of any reason why they would do that.
guys, what's going on in Merope ?
galnet reports some stirred situations.
