Guys... This is an in-game thread... If I search the internet and come up with the cure for hangover you receive from drop bears or tree octopus stings... well it just has no business - off topic... and off-topic is off-topic.

Yep, there's no hacking involved so you can't report people for that. However, like mentioned you can make thread rules and have them enforced by mods.

See them all the time. Sorry.

I don't. Anyone else?

Well... you dont hack anything to get to those files... just saying. All that is litterlly in the folders. If they did not want anyone to actually do stuff like that then they should encrypt it.

Uh... opening Windows Explorer and browsing the game folder isn't "haxx", it's a basic function of Windows. If the devs didn't want us to see them, they would be encrypted and actually require cracking to find...

Are you guys serious? They haven't changed the name of these folders because believe or not, Frontier Developments still trusts us and believes we are responsible players who will only discover things through actually playing the game. (Fudge me right?)

Just because you can doesn't mean you should.

Not sure if anyone has noticed this. but you know that galaxy the thargoids came from? Well where the barnacle is... you get a clear view of it.

Can anyone confirm or infirm that all the barnacles have a clear view of Andromeda Galaxy?

EDIT:

Can anyone confirm or infirm that all the barnacles are pointed towards Andromeda Galaxy?

What happened on Jacques was because some guys messed with the fsd as they tried to find the "architects". There's a galnet post that clearly stats it was repaired afterwards. What would stop other people from doing it?

Planets rotate.... so yes, sometimes.

I meant to say if they are pointed towards it, even if it's from time to time. I'm sorry, will edit.

It's not hacking and it migth not even be against the EULA, but it is against the forum rules to post what you find.

Jumping has always been tense, as there are game bugs that can cause infinite hyperspace jumps. Check the bug report forum, one guy even made a video of one where the hyperspace animation goes on for minutes. The only way to end them is to kill the game client with the task manager, when you restart, you are back in your starting system. And that is the real problem, as the fuel is removed from your tank upon jump, so you could end up stuck in space not because you did not check your route, but because the game screwed you over.

This can also happen during enter into or exit out of SC, but there you do not have the fuel problem.

On request of FDev support, I did the whole thing with editing the game configuration to enable verbose logging, sent letter logging, received letter logging, submitted various log files via bug reports. Feedback received except for the automated mail upon submission: Zero.

Thanks, FDev, message received, my wallet stays closed for you in the future.

Which - to come back to topic at least slightly - is the reason why I have not bothered to submit a bug report for the self-exploding spikes effect. I know that I can just as well write the problem description on the soft absorbent paper I use in the tiled room with running water, so I am not wasting my playing time.

I was referring to Thargoids not bugs....but okay....

Few days ago i notice this odd stars disposition in the Eagle nebula (8000 yl away)
and i wonder if this means something related to this thread or it's only a fantasy of my paranoid mind

by this picture you can't understand of what i am talking about.. so,
i suggest, to all of you, to check it out by your own in the galaxy map.
watched by some angolation it even seems a message or something like that

Features like this can appear wherever a lot of named stars from a real catalogue are close together - you can see similar examples near the Running Man nebula, the Cocoon Nebula and many others. Check their names to be sure - they won't be the typical procedural names but probably named for their catalogue of origin (often 2MASS in nebulae: the 2-Micron All-Sky Survey).

You do have a point about them encrypting it or doing something to hide it at least. But really isnt fair to us that people are giving things away by just finding what is in the files. I think that it is ok for you to do that but dont spoil things for the rest of us mate.

Go back a few pages - MB said they're the same, it's just a different method of entry and exit because of the masses involved.

Some of the 'lore' surrounding the differences between small and large ship hyper/witch space aren't correct it seems.

It therefore means, for example, that whatever happened to Jacques could happen to us...

Not yet as miss jumps aren't in the game, confirmed by MB. But with frontier warning us exploration will get more dangerous in the future it surely only a matter of time.

I'm pretty certain they will tell us when they are in the game as it will almost certainly require substantial testing which, given how the network code is design, probably can't be done by Q&A alone.

To be fair, they are pretty ambiguously named as is, they don't tell us exactly what or where they are. They may even be dead-ends/placeholders or even inside jokes and FDev toying with us. Finding the clues from the files just provide some basis to look for some, we obviously all want to find the things in the actual game. :)

This is a valid point. I was just pointing out the technical aspect of it, I won't spoil anything nor do I have any interest in diving in myself. You can only speculate so much from a filename. ;)

Tech geeks won't magically cease to be tech geeks just because of one game. It's a habit for many gamers to check the files after patches. No need to be so condescending. The things in question are even in spoiler tags, so you have your own freewill if you wish not to see what they are.

That's just an open cluster in the Eagle Nebula's H II region. Large, dense clusters of stars aren't uncommon around emission nebulae like that.
