It's not on Bain to prove anything, one person isn't a community.

It's a bit rich judging an entire board based on a single poster, in a single thread.

Indeed. And if I am the topic of conversation I'll add that in anycase I'm a renegade from the Star Citizen Community, and not a long standing member of the Elite Community.

I've already shared my views on that previously. Basically, IMHO it's no different here than at CIG. Fewer people overall means less of a negative presence overall. But if HE suggests that this place is better, than it would be wise for he himself to show more restraint.

I'm not judging an entire board based on him. I made up my mind on video game forums a long time ago. I'm asking him to do as he preaches.

THB much more important than bugs or multiplayer rollout for me is the gameplay. That is really what I am waiting to see.

That's totally fair. Then let's say that. Let's not compare how far along each project is, or what features were included in alpha version x compared to this game's alpha version x. But let's compare the pros and cons of the gameplay choices and the differences between what they choose to offer.

Folks, lets move away from discussing other forum members in the thread please and stick instead to discussing Star Citizen, which is the topic of the thread, thanks.

The 0 G movement will be very interesting as well. Can't wait to land at the landing pad and get out to float about.

I was waiting for a 3rd person perspective joke...

Restraint was exercised. However for the sake of variety it would have been the "when you turn the ignition key, count yourself lucky if the engine starts in the first place" joke in anycase.

*sigh, still cant figure out out to delete/merge.

That is a pretty screenshot!

One thing that always bugs me though - rubber tyres in space?

Now that you point it out. Also I was always disappointing with the way those ships look. Even when I was a card carrying SC fan. I can understand why people compare them to pictures of ships on the front of lego kits.

And something about that picture...

You can just kind of tell its more like being on a 'map' rather than being in the vastness of space. Know what I mean? The illusion of space just isn't there. And its more than just knowing those stars in the background are just part of an image stamped on the inside of a box I'm flying around in.

I haven't been following SC too closely but those ships look like they're designed to be capable of atmospheric flight. The Space Shuttle's got tyres.

As to why don't they just dangle the craft in zero G outside the spacestation. Well does SC have artificial gravity? Maybe having the ships stuck to the side with artificial gravity is for safety.

I think that's the plan for some of them.

I'll be interested to see how flight feels in different ships.

Also to see how the different approach to HUD info feels - they look like they'll be putting more up there.

You must be right about the tire, like the Space Shuttle has.

The fiction is they have AG where ever they need it. But yeah, doesn't feel like a space-born design. More like a big helipad.

A thing I really like about SCs approach btw is the differences in UI placement and visualisation each ship has. Here is a example of the Hornet, Avenger and Freelancer cockpits (click for larger image).

It really makes you feel like flying a different ship. Lets see how the actual UI unfolds, it seems like CIG have gone for max information without having to turn your head around.

Those pics do look nice. Better than that helipad in space pic. Lets hope they keep the HUD inside the cockpit if you know what I mean.

Dante, you seem to have the inside word, if you don't mind me asking, are you 'involved' with SC more than just being a backer like the rest of us Joe Shmos?
