NO2O! The Definitive List of 1.7/2.2-Compatible HUD Colour/Color Configs (please add yours!)

I kinda stole this from Isinona's recent video (found here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sSQgGzo2S6Q), but it's basically exactly what I had pre-2.1, except my version totally wrecked NPC faces come 2.1.

And turn your ingame HUD brightness ALL the way down.

It comes out as a quite pleasant greyscale that preserves blue shields/green friendlies, enemies are a dark grey & neutrals are a brighter gray (it's a substantial difference, despite my description). Station UI is a comfortable dark green background with bright lettering & graphics.

Alternatively to turning HUD brightness down (or in addition to it if you still find it too bright), what I have found works, is to adjust the first row of "1s" down to the same number like 0.8, e.g.:

http://arkku.com/elite/hud_editor/#theme_0.8_0.8_0.8_0_1_0_0_0_1

I haven't tried turning it down further (as opposed to the ingame HUD brightness), cause I figure it might start screwing up the NPC faces again if I do and that was the primary version I sought out Isinona's HUD colors.

(my original setup was this, if you are curious:
<MatrixRed> 0.35, 0.35, 0.35 </MatrixRed>
<MatrixGreen> 0, 0.5, 0 </MatrixGreen>
<MatrixBlue> 0, 0, 1.5 </MatrixBlue> )

Thanks for sharing and for the extra info. [up] I found with the reduced brightness version, the pictures were completely black, so I just included the full bright one. I credited Isinona as well. Love the grayscale pictures! Great vid too, as always :D

I once saw an interesting HUD in an IClipper, white with blue shield rings and throttle sweet spot. I dont know if red/green came out clearly, but I doubt it. Can anyone reproduce?

I believe this is what you were looking for... :)

Great post Terry!! Should be a sticky!!

Oh you! :D[up]

This is as close as I could get to the Orca without causing problems with avatars. I was hoping to go with orange for the shields and teal for the friendlies, but it makes the avatars look horrendous in all my experiments. The shields should be greener but that also doesn't go over well with the avatars. If anyone can work this into something better, be my guest.

(haven't got time to update the main post right now but just wanted to reply to these in the interim)

Well hot damn, that is superb! You've got it pretty spot on in my opinion! That yellow ochre is so much nicer on the eye than the default orange, but in a very subtle way, plus it integrates with the Saud ships AND the pictures work! It's like a shade you'd see in a set of Pantone swatches :D I'll get it in the list asap.

Btw I think your images didn't work cos you were linking to the imgur image page and not the images directly. The updated links you posted would have worked. Here they are anyway if anyone wants to see:

Yes, I am BunnyFett, and thank you. :)

Cheers, I'll add that clarification too!

Hm, I don't think I can see it on the thread already, so I might as well post my HUD.

Blue / Yellow
Hostiles: Dark red
Friendlies: Light blue
Wing: Yellow
Notes: The red for hostiles and negative effects on UI can be a bit hard to read at times, due to the red being so dark.

<MatrixRed> 0.1, 0, 0 </MatrixRed>
<MatrixGreen> -1, 1, 2 </MatrixGreen>
<MatrixBlue> 2, 0, -1 </MatrixBlue>

Considering I'm 54,000 Ly from Sol, I haven't exactly got access to a mission board. I can show a picture of the engineers tab though, considering that too has faces.

Been a busy one this week! Finally had a bit of time to squeeze in an update. Also, I keep forgetting to mention that I sent Matt inson a private message hoping for some insight or myth busting about how the HUD works and why it might not be a simple process to add custom colour support, but as yet, for whatever reason, no response. Maybe if we get 100 replies on this thread?

Cheers again for these mateys [up] They're now added.

Nice job! I'm going to add these to the EDProfiler list, what shall I name them?

Ah awesome! :D I would suggest going with the Primary / Secondary colour format, since all of them have that. Only a few have custom titles right now. Maybe we could come up with a few to fill the gaps?

Excellent thread!

Yes I went with that, prefacing with NO2O, will be included in the next update. Seeing as you aren't putting them in order of appearance I may not be able to constantly sift through new entries. Could I bother you to stick in a "date included" somewhere next to each one to help me in my quest to publicise these?

-Disregard, misread the post hahaha

I'll see what I can do [up]

They are now all in the latest build, sorry but there's no room for the creator names but I did link this thread and encouraged people to give rep to the creators on the download page.

You can find the profiler here:
http://www.drkaii.com/tools/edprofiler

Nice work! I'll give it a go! I added the link to EDProfiler to the useful links section and mentioned that it includes presets. Hopefully that'll encourage some curious cats to try them without the fuss of config file editing :D[up] In return, would you consider adding a little notation somewhere on the site or thread about the source of the NO2O configs? The CMDRs who have contributed and made the initiative a success have done so very graciously and it means a lot to me that they are recognised for it.

I already did put it on the forum thread next to the update. Not really sure how to make it more prominent, although I'd love to. I'll put it on the site but I don't think anyone reads that :)

Apparently I have to spread some rep around before I can rep you again :D Cheers matey [up]

I refuse to change my hub colors until you can do this via the game interface. Editing any game files should be strictly forbidden for this multiplayer game.

That's understandable. Just out of curiosity, what is it about editing config files that you disagree with in this case?

Once you edit one config file is that where it stops or do you carry on editing all the game files you can. All those game files that are client based but still impact this multiplayer game. Fdev cant enforce any policing of game files while they allow config files to be edited.

Call me old fashioned but I dont edit config files, use scripts or mods or any other program while player Elite Dangerous other than teamspeak and thats only because the ingame comms doesnt support more than 4 CMDRs which is a little bit of a problem when you in a 200+ group.
