UAs, Barnacles & other mysteries Thread 7 - The Canonn

No offense intended, but I honestly can't tell if these are sarcastic now or not.

If we find another UP this theory shouldn't take long at all to test. An it far easier to rule this out than trying to search an entire planet for something.

Which let be honest, given Frontier past, the thing we are looking for might not even spawn.

An it could be that locating barnacles on planets is the clue to cracking this mystery and thus Frontier introduce the tool for us to find Barnacles much much easier by simply deploy UP in a system and seeing if it lines up to the planet with the Barnacles on.

So how about this lads...

1. Artifact is transmitter - sends echolocation signal into "glow" star of nebula (the star that gives a reflective nebula its luminosity eg Merope) This boosts the signal across the whole nebula.

2. Probe is reciever - Take it to a planet suitable for growing barnacles and it receives the transmission from the Artifact. Perhaps in space it points to the best suitable planet in a system?

3. A baby barnacle is born and my dreams come true :)

Mystery solved, now where's my damn biscuits you promised :)

driven and flown over surface of merope 5c for 5 hours checked out mountains and canyons nothing to report and after a heavy impact with a crater i need to fix up the ship so that's it for tonight will be back on the surface tomorrow.

UPKEEP out

"Michael please tell us what we're missing"

No thanks.

If it was designed to be figured out in a couple of days then we'd have done so.

Equally, if it's been worked on for months, then helping us work it out in a couple of days would be a bit, well, self-defeating no?
The majority of the "work" has been just finding really rare things. Finding UAs, finding Barnacles, Finding UPs, and whatever else FD puts out there....
And I'm such a sucker for a good Alien Sci-fi mystery, that I'll keep searching. I just won't be happy about it.

Looking on merope 5C that is a 1 TO 1 scale. Its to tedious even for FD standards
Apparently they expected us to find barnacles within a week of 2.0, and the first one that was found was one of the harder ones to find.
And it took a lot longer than they intended. It's why they had the Anaconda crash near barnacles.

So I question FD standards.

If UAs is phase 1, Barnacles Phase 2, Unknown Probes phase 3, then Phase 3 of this mystery has been the biggest disappointment so far. Probes are literally two UA heads attached together, not only that, but they were found in a similar manner(guarded convoy). They reek of laziness.

What I am actually hoping, is that they were thrown in to help us find something we should have found in 2.0.
If that is the case, I want to ask FDev if they know what the figure of speech "needle in a haystack" means.

No matter, anyways. Just take it one part at a time.

These are my thoughts exactly. Only difference is im not hoping, I fully believe this is the case. Something has been missed.

What makes sense to me is the UA and UP are probes looking for something, same thing we are looking for right now. I think the UP was created because we are missing something. I hope FD is not sending us on a wild goose chase again. I remember spending days looking for barnacles, and so did everyone else, to no avail. All of a sudden they did an update and we found a bunch the next day. I hope what we are looking for is actually there, and is not bugged.

I believe something was missed in the original UA convoy, something which was probably supposed to lead us to the UA Sphere. May be there something we are suppose to fine in the UP convoys,

To be fair, the bug at the time affected all persistent PoI's and is now fixed, so if we're looking for a persistent PoI it should really be there this time :)

Once we have UPs, i think Fdev are intending on us doing something with them ( selling them to black markets) and using them that way in a persistent manner.

So the probe points to Merope 5C...
Interesting.

Has anyone tested the theory of whether probes are tools to help us find barnacles?
Keep in mind there is more than one astro in Merope with barnacles. So pointing to Merope 5C while ignoring 2A is telling.
Or is this the tool we needed to help narrow down the search in Merope to finding what was missed?

I will give the community a hand and start searching 5C now.

We'll have to find a better source first. Those convoy's require a great deal of time and resources.

We still need to find THE source. The convoys where they are being found currently are just a hint to how we can find/create them ourselves. I'm doing my best to sift through every miniscule detail I can, as I believe there are clues to be found rather than just the UP itself.

Yes I think it has been tested and no it is not a barnacle locator.

in the past once one thing was found, the more we interacted with it, the more available something spawned or became accessible. So now we are collecting and sellingf the UPs, would it be possible that say when 20 are recovered and sold, Fdev flick a switch and expand the area they spawn, and over time eventually free floaters. I would suggest we intensively search around ross 47 and nearby systems, and the more we interact with them that area of activity might expand and change over time seems to be the way Fdev work things

oh wow yes Jacques is confirmed, co operative government 750 population and again near a nebula, might have to giddy up an exploration ship

Importance of their songs confirmed once again.

Well that's debatable. In the past the same techniques have been employed as I described above. Something is released into the galaxy. Fair enough players dont find it.
FD show that these things exist with stuff like a strange convoy or a special mission.
Community starts sciencing and progress in the story.
Community hits brick wall.
Some people whine and complain we cant progress in the story anymore.
FD shiw that we can progress by putting in a hint, strange convoy or special mission etc
Community starts sciencing again.
Circle goes on.

There is no magic switch that progresses the story, the community progresses the story with intelligence, coordination and just the right amount of tinfoil. If anyone honestly believes we are just waiting for the devs to let us solve this then what are you even doing here?

"they sing and then they find you"

Anyone else jumping on the echolocation bandwagon yet? :) plenty of room on board at the moment haha
