Just a quick question guys.
I have been to Merope before. I was there within an hour when the first barnacle was found.
But in the last few months i havent been back. Until today!

As a force of habit i always *honk* when entering a system. Today when i entered Merope was no different

So why did my scanner found one more object? just one? Can someone please explain that?

Interesting.

Has anyone tested the theory of whether probes are tools to help us find barnacles?
Keep in mind there is more than one astro in Merope with barnacles. So pointing to Merope 5C while ignoring 2A is telling.
Or is this the tool we needed to help narrow down the search in Merope to finding what was missed?

Have you looked on the system map to see if there is anything new?
I have not honked in Merope for well over a year will give it a go in the morning see if anything turns up.

At this stage I can say with 99.9% surety that the "song" is echolocation. Which is technically a type of scanner, a type of sonar.

What single atoms of gas suspended in a vacuum transmitting sound? though as i type this i get the whole tis only a game and do you expect the discovery scanner to work you total plank... so i dunno ignore me tired.

Yeah there's something about that that bugs me not sure what though, been staring at for 5 mins now mulling it over.

For sound based system yes, but radar is just echolocation with radio waves, presumably our honk scanners do something similar using something faster than light.

Haha tis not only a game, what you speak is blasphemy!

In case you missed my previous post elaborating a little;

So how about this lads...

1. Artifact is transmitter - sends echolocation signal into "glow" star of nebula (the star that gives a reflective nebula its luminosity eg Merope) This boosts the signal across the whole nebula.

2. Probe is reciever - Take it to a planet suitable for growing barnacles and it receives the transmission from the Artifact. Perhaps in space it points to the best suitable planet in a system?

3. A baby barnacle is born and my dreams come true

I did some looking into echolocation (particularly toothed whales) and.... Well... Just wow...

Do Palin's cargo racks exist? I didn't see an option for engineering one at his base, but I didn't think to check outfitting to see if he sells them.

The cargo racks are indeed in outfitting available like normal ones.

Apparently class 1F with one ton capacity, and class 1E with 2 tons capacity.
