Right off to work but quick bit of tin foil. what about getting a UA on board getting enough jumpionum todo a massive jump somewhere dont know where. with best fsd (with fsd upgrades) and see if you can recreate what happened to jaques station? or honk at the UP in merope 5c orbit?

from what i read on the Jaques journal, it confirms that UA and UP sings !!

it's not a morse code or whatever, it's a song !!

this reminds me ''close encounters of the third kind''...

He did find it, although not through the method we expected :)

I am surprised that you are surprised. Scanning Gal Map for non-0 populations has been a failed method of searching for Raaxla and Formidine Objects for a long long while (It didn't register with me that the new difference between Anarchy and Non would have helped)
While it has been tried, we never actually thought you would be so slack as to allow us to find things without actually going there. Maybe Jaques is just flavor rather than plot, so it doesn't matter, or it could be because he was "broadcasting" it is legitimate to make him findable using such methods.

How many UP's have been found? Are they starting to become common?
Still only 3
1. Failed to appear in cargo when scooped
2. Some basic recordings before failing to scoop/getting limpeted against the hull
3. Some directional experiments leading to 5C where again, it failed to appear in cargo when scooped

People keep on asking "Has X been done". The answer will remain a resounding NO till some more are found.

And i am not a bit surprised that this was not like intended by you/Fdev.

However - will you now move on with "what was intended" (storyline ? CG?) and adopt to the now new 'situation' Fdev has with the 'unexpected' finding of Jaques ?
The station now sitting there, middle of nowhere, and no scratch at all visible, is kind of ... i don't know. There has to be some kind of a follow up, even though you just got shortcutted by one brave (and very clever) Commander.

cheers,
o7

That's just game mechanics from what I'm assuming is from when you got caught transporting UA's in the first place... Correct?

I want to see the NPC's(devs) come back at you in a creative way for your "without intending harm" stuffing hundreds of artefacts that "turn your ships internals into soup" and causing possibly the largest mis-jump ever to grace the elite universe "in the name of science".

I personally have nothing against you, but in my opinion if nothing happens to you it would be a grave mis-step in story telling how you dashed Jacques dreams of jumping across the galaxy and stranded 750 people in the middle of no-where.
Also it kind of undermines giving the NPC's faces if you can be responsible for melting half of their station (and homes) and they aren't the slightest put out with you.

So, I do have a slightly more in-character post planned (have to finish a job app first, due in 4 hours...) But, In fact, I have tried some self sacrifice in the past. Unfortunately it didn't get taken up, perhaps because Galnet freelance post rules explicitly forbid issuing bounties on other players (even if it's yourself, it seems).

Maybe MB see's this and takes some note, but I'm right down for it. Heck, I'd go as far as deleting my own character just for some real risk and RP death if it got taken up in a serious way. When I do my "in character" post here in a bit, anyone can feel free to do something with it :p
Jmains should be safe. Black market operators never reveal their sources.

Except that 18m credit fine is from the authorities scanning me at Jaques, as Ragnos mentioned, so realistically, my name "should" be synonymous with UA smuggling ;)

Anyway, I'll sort out this job app and then post something about the intent of the UAs, since my associates have definitely taken note ;)

On a scale from 0 to 10, how mad are you that you didn't tweak population data or was this more of a 'well, if they do notice the government type and poplation, kudos to them' kinda thing?

I personally think this thing, accident or no, is actually a good thing. I'm going out on a wing and suggesting that Jaques has been out there for a few weeks, even a month or so now, and now someone's found it. Not only that, it was at a nebula, which is a nice reference point. I think that's kinda the right length of time for this sorta thing to take.

I cant look it up right now but can someone please tell me what type of star was the system Jacques attempted his jump from? Also if there was a nebula nearby? Just trying to theorize what exactly triggered the malfunction. I know it had something to do with the artifacts on board but that doesn't satisfy my mind.

barnacles in that nearby nebula is almost certain to be a definite outcome, and given there is a 550LY or so bubble around human settlements where human type stuff can spawn ( various loot on planet, crashed ships, automated mining stuff) as normally deep space is just metorites , that loot can be returned to jacques and maybe it might drive additional outpost building
