Release Trade Computer Extension Mk.II

Full-Version (1.3.5) released:

Changelog:
- Added all fonts required by TCE to the installation. If you having 'q' buttons, install the full version.
- Added rework of price database, storing only listed prices of goods from a market, decreasing the size of data by about 60%.
- Added improve detection and repairing of data errors at the market and price databases.
- Added small display optimizations to Trade Overview and Main panel.
- Added the version number to the automated backup file name.
- Fixed an error when deleted markets are present at the market database.

Note:
If you using the V1.3.0 - V1.3.4, please use the update, because no database changes are required for this version. Otherwise you have to install the full version and import your old database.
Please verify your database to ensure that your database is clean of errors. If you having problems with the price data displayed, please send me your database folder for further investigations
and a small report.
Thanks.

Problem with New Laucher

I am having a problem with the newest version of the launcher. It doesn't recognize that I have EDMC installed on my machine. It seems to keep looking for EDMC.exe instead of EDMarketConnector.exe. I have also been getting an Open Folder error message. I have been using TCE for a long time and have really like using EDMC instead of OCR since I don't have a high end monitor that allows me to use higher resolutions. I've been using TCE without EDMC, but it is so slow to input the prices at each station.

I hope you can give me some easy instruction to fix this

Updated and repairing now,

For the next version, since we really have no other choices, and this may have to be done multiple times,
when errors are found, couldn't you make it restart the verification process by itself ?

1st run, found error in the Registered Market, repaired

2nd pass, Verified, found more errors, Repaired got stuck, Please wait, spinning animation but nothing happening for a long time.

Seems like the Id problem found dialog box reopened behind TCE's interface and had to be closed through the task bar for the process to complete.

3rd pass all green.

Will go give this a try and report back later. Tks :)

Great job, still have to go back to the market I had the most trouble with yesterday, but so far, the new repair seems to have fixed all that was hailing my db !!! :D

Tested the repair function at your sended db, so it had a little training before ;)

Will hide the launcher, when the message box appears, so it can't hide behind anymore for the next update.
An auto-restart of verification/repair process could be done, but didn't had the time yesterday to work that out, so I decided, that the user has to restart it.

There is a small X button behind the bookmark to the delete it.

I have no problems with Hydrogen Peroxide & Liquid Oxygen. They got imported through EDMC with no problem. That issue could be a database problem, eg. storing your input at a wrong place. Wait for the next update and check again. There will come a rework, how prices are handled by TCE.

Your problem with entering prices shows, there is a problem in the back with your database. That issue for you should be fixed with the next update.

That is a database issue, but with the today release, it should be gone, so I think.

Now using 1.3.5

- Found the delete in the bookmarks, thanks. The reason why I hadn't spotted it before was because I was looking in the favourites and it isn't in there ;)

- With 1.3.5 the manual entry problem with the commodities has disappeared.

- However the Hydrogen Peroxide & Liquid Oxygen issue is still there, even after verifying the database which showed no problems. Would full install of 1.3.5 (I only used the update as I was already running 1.3.4) and an import of my database solve the issue? My database is here if you want a look at it. The Hydrogen Peroxide & Liquid Oxygen entries in it have all been manually entered.

Thanks

Thanks for it, will make a test run later, when I am back home.

@Found the issue in your database! Please replace the language.db file from the DB folder with the language.tdm file from the TDM folder. Rename the .tdm file to .db.
The entries got replaced somehow by salvage goods, like AI Relicts, etc.

The file, TCE is searching for, is the EDMC.exe! It is the command line executable for EDMC. The EDMarketConnector.exe file contains his own interface and is not required for TCE.
The launcher searches the EDMC.exe at the default install location of EDMC (C:\Program Files (x86)\EDMarketConnector\EDMC.exe). If it is installed at a different location, use the button and select the right path.
At this step you got the error? Will check and fix this issue, but you can bypass the launcher and add the full path directly into the TCE.config file at the TCE installation folder.
It should look like:

EDMCPath="C:\Program Files (x86)\EDMarketConnector\EDMC.exe"

Change the path within the quotation marks to the installation path of EDMC. After a restart of the launcher, it should be shown as installed.

With 1.3.5 and a fresh install (just restarted my commander and doing the same with TCE). Trying to bind the keys and found that I can not use NUM SUBTRACT for one setting and ALT + NUM SUBTRACT for another setting. TCE obviously checks if you are using the same key for two different panels and does not allow it. Is it possible to allow NUM Subtract for one panel and ALT + Num subtract for a different panel. I believe it worked in earlier versions but can not be certain.

Thankjs

Jim

Hi Eventure,

Possible bug with keybinds. I had numpad subtract bound to hide tce. It worked fine, but today, it doesn't work. It just changes the pos'n/dest box like I want to add a new market. Restarting tce didn't help.

video because it's easy:

Thanks for the help. That fixed the problem. Everything works just great now.

Thanks again for your work on this great addition to ED.

Tested the repair function at your sended db, so it had a little training before ;)

Went back to the station that was causing problems before and after connection everything went back to normal.

Right now thought, when looking for a commodity's best buy, when I clicked on one of the stations listed, to get more details, i got :

MUigjYY.jpg

I exited TCE and Verified my db, all shows green.

Went back in, tried to reproduce the error but everything worked fine now !

Great stuff, thanks. I'll test it later on today when I get chance :)

Quick question:
On the trade overview screen next to the commodity price there is a Balance column with + and - Credit numbers. What does this balance information mean? What is that + or - number telling me?

It is the difference between the price of the commodity and the galactic average price.

Thanks for reporting, that should be possible. Found the issue and it will be fixed with the next release. You can bypass the issue, if changing the TCE.config file directly until release.
Select the key without the "ALT" key for your desired panel. Open then the TCE.config file and look for the panel name at the keybinds category.
Add to the number shown +1000 and add it to the panel, you want the keybind with the "ALT" key, eg. "111" for "NUM DIVIDE" and "1111" for "ALT+NUM DIVIDE".
Don't open the keybind window again after the changes above, until the issue is fix with the next update.

What the hell you doing to me. :S

You want to test me, right?

Oh man, you are crazy. [wacky]

I suggest to not start TCE twice! :D:D:D

Had to laugh, as I needed about 30 mins. to figure it out, because the keybinds have nothing to do with the displays and the the displays are updated every 10 seconds, so issue can't happen like the video showed.
Missing the "Single Instance" check for TCE! Will be fixed with the next update.

LOL. Dude, I dunno. edit* I had more than one instance of TCE running??? How did that happen?? I always shut it down before starting it. ?? haha, wth??

Over the weekend, I got stuck in my python, as I couldn't change to my vette/cutter. It wasn't a cargo or limpet issue. It was getting smelly in there. Support manually changed my ships to the vette (but lost all cargo), so I took off and flew around, and made some eng mods, including L5 dirty drive. Today I get a message they want me to test logging in, ok, went fine, but now I'm in a python at some port I've never been to. I WAS in my Vette at Palin/Maia. Time for an early beer maybe.

Do i have to dock on every single station?? I mean - the starter pack is nice but i am no even close to that so its useless for me. Would be nice if anyone can answer me this question and probably tell me how to do it fast so i can fill my database ;D

There is no fast way, this is Elite. :D

Seriously though, don't worry about them, this tool isn't for collecting ALL station data it's about collecting the data you want. This isn't crowdsourced so there's no sharing of data. The addition of other stations is to save you time typing in the station details.

I will take a stab at this.

The way it should work is this...as you fly about the bubble doing 'stuff', like running missions, bounty farming, exploring, trading, cg's, etc, and you dock for fuel/ammo/repairs/commodities, you add each station you go to to your database. It won't be long before you will have a nice database, likely with stations that have the type of stuff you might need, their outfitting resources, etc.

If you go to a completely new area of the bubble, I have found that running 10-15 missions will have you going to stations in the local area that include all the economy types you need to know about locally (agriculture, high tech, refinery, etc) and a wide variety of outfitting options and ships available.

This is the sort of functionality (what stuff exists in places I've been) that TCE provides that, frankly, should have been in the game from the start.

If you get really hard up for finding a particular commodity that's not in your database (somehow), you go the 'cheaty' route and look on Thrudds. This is desperation mode though, and it is rare.

I like to recite Yokai from the guide he wrote for TCE:

"Basically, TCE provides is the 34th century in-ship trading computer that many of us have asked for and wished that FD had been able to put in the game. It opens up an entirely new type of role-play: "trade exploration". TCE makes it possible to enjoy exploring star systems and stations with a tangible reward for each new discovery: A) You add to your growing personal collection of station data in game. YOUR data. And B) every new station you acquire this way adds to YOUR increasing income potential and trading options."
