I agree, i'm very trusting of the police (UK for me), if i was in America i would still call the police with a degree of confidence, but that's because i'm white, we have seen how the police tend to treat white folks compared with black folks. But obviously i'm not going to assume all US cops are racist, i'm sure most are great people, but even a good police officer may need better training, and even non racist cops may have a bias against black people due to the culture of policing, and that includes some black cops who think they need to prove themselves.
When you've lived here for about 8 years or so - your view will change.
You can call the police - but you cannot have any confidence in what they will actually do. A few months back, seven police vehicles were sent to deal with a motorcyclist* and car driver argument where no injury or violence occurred but there was a scene because the car driver threw a fit over being overtaken, roadraged and tried to cause a crash, pretended there was a fight, and called the police after he was apparently assaulted and had his leg kicked and his nose broken.
At the same time - there was an armed robbery at a petrol station less than 1/2 mile away - and only one police vehicle attended.
I know, because I was the motorcyclist - and it's all on gopro.
No legs or noses were harmed in the making of the video

I think in many cases when black people got hurt in the USA and they are starting to whine about racism is a fake.
If you committed a crime, and than you got hurt, its nothing to do with racism. If not? There is any survey about how much unjustified hurt done to black people in proportion of the police missteps, and police actions?
And no, the fact black people in proportion more times are the "victims" of police action thats not makes the USA police racist as far, the actions are justified. If you got this coming? Than you got it coming...
And to hide behind your skin color to use as a shield is just as disgusting than racism itself.
The fact you are white, or black not makes you victim of injustice, if you are guilty, and neither absolve you from guilt of crime.

Problem is. If you watch the videos.
Most of the Black Guys shot did nothing criminal at all.
The last two.
One was shot in his car without resistance.
And the other was shot lying on the ground without resistance.
Wild west culture has never gone away.
The police do have a problem. In that past this was hidden as people didn't have videos to provide evidence. Now though the general public can see whats going on, with the evidence going worldwide.
The issue appear to be an over dependence on use of the gun to resolve problems. For me its based on a culture of fear that pervades American society, fear is the the best way of controlling the population when you have a constitution that nominally provides many freedoms. The actions of the Police are merely a symptom of a more endemic problem within the culture.

Well... As i said before the real problem is they are "allowed" to do this and their bosses the system is covering their asses. If America wants the things to change, than this is the first thing must change. Responsibility!
They must be hold accountable.
The funniest thing in the America justice system while its lets the cops getting away with this kind of things. In the same time its allow things like patent troll companies, and other absurdities. Its just as ... up as its gets.
Yes. There seems to be a problem with accountability concerning policing in general in the United States. But there is also a specific problem relating to interactions between the police and minorities, as the article I have just linked makes clear. This is not news. And nor is it really open to dispute - there has been much rigorous academic research into the subject, and the evidence is clear - the way a civilian is treated by police officers, and by the legal system in general, is clearly and unambiguously influenced by ethnicity. It is not 'a big fat lie' or 'a fake reason'. It is the everyday experience of American citizens.

There is no 'racist card'. Just racism. The evidence is incontrovertible.
I think there should be another option here. It's obvious the police are acting like a military organization, but to argue they are causing more harm than good is a bit of an overstatement. Clearly the American police as a whole are doing more good than bad. However instances such as the last week are simply reprehensible, and the political attachments of many policeman organizations refuse to consider the clear history of racial abuse and inequality that contribute to decisions made in a split second.
99% of police are doing good. But the fact that African-Americans are the only demographic that makes up a larger percentage of police killings than they do the population, is disgusting and must be confronted. 12.2% of any population should not make up 35-40% of state killings.

Yeah. You know why? because Germany and most of the Eu is gone to the entirely opposing direction, and trying to supress the whole racist hornet nest. The problem is, this have the tendency of instead resolving this kind of existing problems, (And make no mistake! they are existing!!!) just trying to kick the cinder under the rug. Yup! you read that right! It's not sweeping the trash under the rug, but kicking the cinder. If you do not address this kind of problems properly, than you creating a nice overly sized gunpowder keg. So again... What you gonna do? let it run like in the states, or put in the box and bury it?

The few instances were this was locally tried it ended up being exposed.
Thats the good thing when the government cannot deny independent reporters access or reporting.
Its incredible hard to hide things that happen.
Take the New Years incident as example.
The local guy tried putting it under the carpet. The result is a giant scandal and an stricter law dealing with this sort of thing.
