Argghh! That means 40% don't - looks like the Galaxy is far more dangerous than I imagined..I'm never going back to open again!I would say confidently that 60% of my interactions with people I don't know in this game end like this.
I had an appalling time in open this evening. Commanders were apologizing for popping in to a (persistent) USS, and even saying hello.
I mean it was utter chaos what with the endless hellos and salutes and excuse me and mind if I collect and don't mind me and all sorts of ridiculous and horrific politeness.
Just unbelievably terrible experience throughout.
*chuckles quietly in the background*
Oh dear gawd you actually communicated with a person in Open!So we have this 'who will be the next Power' CG, and I figured I'd go grab myself some Gems for SEPP. I go over to Maiki in my freshly specced Clipper (without imp rank *giggle*), and drop at the USS. I figured I'd be alone, but these USS are apparantly persistent, and a (mostly harmless) cmdr is grabbing stuff with his Python. Hmpf. I check his modules, and he's sporting three beams and two MCs. I think I can guess where each one is. I hail him, but get no response. He continues to manually scoop all gems, so I deploy my limpets. Getting a bit nervous, I park my clipper right in front of him. We're about 30m apart, standing still, staring at each other with hardpoints deployed. Then the inevitable happens.
Darn, that was some ice-cold killer right there!![]()

Still...
Imagine the amount of comradarie generated though if CMDRs in the open could engage and toggle player damage instead of it being as is.
Imagine the amount of CMDRs that would jump into open and help others side by side BH-ing without having to consider player damage and both get the same full bounty?
The opportunities for cooperation with other CMDRs are far greater than competition and still, if one wants to toggle PVP on they can.

Leave the BGS effects of players so that those that want to play the political villain can as im sure its effects bring as much enjoyment as causing player respawning

Also reminds me of the concept of original sin. The fact that we have a choice between good and evil is what makes our choices important. If we're only given one choice, then being good loses any weight because we didn't choose it.Just my opinion, but what made the experience great for me was that he had the opportunity to cause harm, and chose not to do so. In this situation, at such close range, no ammount of chaff could have stopped his gimbals, and I wasnt running any SCB. It was like a Mexican standoff, but one that ended in having some tequila. If I could have toggled some 'can't touch this' switch it would not nearly have been as much fun to me. Its like the saying, which I am sure exists in every language, that the quality of a man is shown in how he treats those who are not his superior. To each his own ofcourse, I didnt start this topic to promote this or that mode over any other.
