A Guide to Minor Factions and the Background Sim

You can also have a war and a civil war going at the same time!

Thank you for this guide, Privateer's Alliance just took over their first system!

I think this has changed, conflict now has precedence.. The only thing that should block war/civil war is a war in another system.

i also saw some expansions blocking pending civil wars going active in the last two weeks - the day civil war should haver overwrite expansion, it simply disapperared. i'm not sure whether that is a 2.1.3 feature or bug. anybody had the same experience?

No, that should not happen. War, civil war and election are all of 'conflict' type and there can be only one conflict at a time.

Bust state is odd. 17 July our faction was in Boom with the Newsfeeds praising a 180% rise in GDP. 20 July we're Bust and being blamed for running the station into the ground. How the aspirationally mighty have fallen.

I'll highlight it from my stream. We have video where we jump into one CZ and it's the war, and another CZ .18 LS away and it's the civil war.

with at least one minor faction taking part in both - the war CZ and the civil war CZ?

you can have both states in the same system, but you shouldn't have both with one minor faction.

Yes, I think there was a misunderstanding going on here @ph1lt0r:

If you only just took over your first system, that tells me you are only in one system. So it would have been impossible for your faction to be involved in more than one conflict at a time. As Goemon says - a system can have multiple states and wars happening. But a single faction can only be in one conflict at time, not matter how many systems they appear in. That is what is typically meant when the thread talks of states - it is for a single faction, not systems.

According to the data readout for your system, your faction is in CW with an Anarchist group - there is no other conflict. You may well have multiple CZs, but it will be the same two factions in each.

Correct, that other war ended on yesterday's tick.

Thank you for the clarification on the other stuff, folks. It was a war between two separate factions and a civil war between us and a faction not belonging to the war.

Election happens when two factions of same goverment type have the same influence - two democracies, two corporations, even two dictatorships (yes, this does not make any sense). As for war and civil war, the only way we know at the moment to avoid it is "not getting close into the first place". Once triggered, it will start.

Since days we raised our influence in TOLUKU with our new player faction Explorer on Tour (EOT). Our government type is democracy and the type of the leading faction Toluku people party (TPP) is communism.

Right now have 58,5% and the TPP has 38,1%. In the tooltip of the galaxy map there is announced elections.... how can this be?
...in the system map the state is still N/A for the system, boom for EOT and N/A for TPP

Do you think this is a bug or do you have any idea?
Screenshots are in German but show what I have written :)

Glad I read to the end of the thread before commenting. I nearly had a "WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?" meltdown.

Quick question.

Is anyone aware of a way to win a war if there's no CZs? I.e does shipping weapons to the "Seeking Weapons" beacons help those factions (And if so, how does it determine which to give influence to?)

No cz's spawning as per this bugreport, have also reiterated that missions don't help either.\

(Yes, ADS'ed the system and been within 1000ls of every major body)

shooting ships of the other minor faction. they even count for CZ missions (if you get those, but no CZ). and bounty hunting.

Its been an interesting experience watching the jaques system and the background sim impacts, theres a lot of clues and outcomes out there that do provide a peek into the background simulation in general

And with the community goal now, we may well see Fdev using new bgs mechanics out there where they might not be used in the bubble

Now there are also "wartime" non-combat missions in the board, but it is still unclear if they actually have some effect on the war.
