The Long Haul (a Buckyball Racing Club challenge)

Any decision from the Esteemed Racemaster on whether we're allowed multiple ships in a class? Just working out which ship I should be jumping into this evening... :p

I think I have a setup that'll achieve an adjusted race time of 6 hrs or less.
I'm not sure I have the willpower to carry it through though.

PM me if you want to give it a go.

my     (cigarette) packet suggests a sub 4 hour adjusted time is possible - in a non modded ship. but i've probably put a bad formula in ;)

Not convinced by that, unless you've spotted something I haven't... Which, considering I signed up before I read the rules properly, is distinctly possible. :D

From what I've seen that should be doable in a modded ship, though... :p

I must admit having only come across this today, I'm looking very favorably towards it.

What will tip me over the edge?

Lost 3% hull rubbing against a cobra exiting the station lol. Cargo hatch at 89% 3kly out. Must be a little more cautious :)

I made it to 4k out last night, at a speed I'm happy enough with... A few little heat incidents, but so far the all-important Cargo Hatch is still at 100%!

Will be watching it carefully; I do not want a repeat of the Kitten Brand Coffee Incident. :p

Type-9 Heavy
What?

I wasn't thinking that the Type-9 would actually be competitive (I hadn't even reread the rules since the original idea in the BRC thread).
I'd just allowed this race to push me over the edge into joining this crazy CG, or maybe I allowed the chatter about the CG to push me over the edge into joining this crazy race...
Not sure really. :D

Plus I fancied trying a T9-explorer ever since seeing the Zombie Wasp.

I will however be looking after the cargo hatch very carefully - no point letting any bonus seconds fall out!

Well, now you have the possibility of being competitive, too! :D

I thought about a T-9 but I really don't have the play time at the moment to fly it to Jaques and back within the CG deadline lol.

You know what? I might do this after all. Maybe.

It occurs to me that with recent retuning, Joyeuse can probably jump 30 ly with 12T of cargo (she'll go 36.46 with 3T of cargo now).

I might run this just to test her practicality as a long range fast transport.

We'll see how I feel after running the BuckyBubble.

Does anyone know if Jaques has Outfitting? I can't carry 12T of cargo and both scanners (not enough internals with the scoop and shields), but if I can buy the scanners at Jaques, I could explore the way back.

Technically, I could carry the ADS and I'd only need to buy the DSS.

Not yet. It did previously, though the selection was very limited, though that's no indication of what it will be after the CG.

If you go for class 2 rather than class 3 shields, an Imperial Courier can quite happily carry 12T cargo along with both scanners, fuel scoop and shields. That was the cargo capacity of the default long-distance build I was using to come up with the base cargo allowances.
