if its Merope 5C then the line could be going from the dusk line of the planet, the two curved lines are the sun so its lighting that side. Who knows it could be a tunnel or some other construction on the planet somewhere which could be as small as a landing pad (needle in a mountain of haystacks) so not at all easy to find.

I like the idea of the lower right showing radious, but the sextant example never includes part "2". Its omitted.

This could be a new idea or an idea somebody else proposed I tried looking through the huge threads and have not found anything so far.

I know its not up to scale nor was it measured exactly. This is just an idea and is not meant to be a measurable representation. I borrowed the base image from the main page of the thread. The base image from the scan itself is non vector based so its accuracy could never be perfect as far as angles and trigonometry are concerned.

I think this might be something we can try but we need to find out what would be on the 2 and 3 portion of the intersection. Not sure if they could be other planets or stars for that matter.

Anyways thats my attempt at science for the day.

Also if you read the blinking from the UP as Morse it spells out a portion of the system SEER. Has someone figured out the beginning of the Morse message or is it just flashing lights? Has anyone set off a UP in SEER to test?

Thank you, but I did; the vast majority of the conversation that is now on that Reddit thread was not there when I looked much earlier today. Before you go accusing people of poor comprehension I suggest that you give them the benefit of the doubt!

Going to stay quiet about this except one little tidbit of information that may help you along with this. Use the ignore list and this adventure the whole speculation and trial and error in the game has been much more fun with a really good filter put on this thread. Few key ignores and you don't get this sort of inside bickering at all and you can stay focused on the mystery and not the people.

People who distract you from the mystery need to be ignored.

So, assuming we DID find a probe in ET. Is there anything significant about that area?

Perhaps not directly, but if we do find another probe that asssumedly points elsewhere or potentially leads us to another UA shell it substantailly reduces the significance of Merope.

This would in turn gives us great guidance and tells us to start looking elsewhere to try and identify patterns that make areas viable and point us in the direction of story progression.

Even if we don't find more probes or UAs that point elsewhere that in itself is telling, so I guess even if the area is not significant the discovery/resolution either way is.

If you read his replies, he seems fair and honest.
I suggest to check the nearby Nebula as well, and to cruise for some time in every system you check, knowing that those kind of spawns have changed (UA like).
There's no need to check every system, just pick them randomly, but accordingly to what we know about the UA Shell.

AND REMEMBER: even if you "simply" find an UA, IT IS IMPORTANT AS WELL!!! No UAs outside the shell so far.
I am way behind on the pages in this thread, so this may be a bit redundant. Sorry if it is.
I looked at the replies, and yes he does seem genuine. It's a bit strange that this happened 60 days ago however, as that is just days after 2.1 was released. Afaik, the UP was not in the game prior 2.1, or atleast wasn't referred to anywhere and nobody knew about it.
Either way, I've asked him to upload his logs to inara.cz, as that Fligth Log shows "interdicted" whenever you drop out of supercruise. It may help narrow it down a bit. Waiting to see what comes of it :)

i repeat what i said the last thread (the 7th) :

the key must be something to ''unlock'' the audio: all we get so far are some words, with the ''key'' we could listen all the whole message. i am pretty sure about this.

Maybe the honk charges it. The probe absorbs the scanner impulse and amplifies it back out. However, 1 honk from our ships is not strong enough. Has anyone tried having multiple ships present and all simultaneously honk ?

The guy reporting a UP find in ELEPHANT'S TRUNK ... why are some systems not present in the log he showed us? The ID numbers are jumping in the list and not consecutive...

this could work if its not already been tried...

EDIT: thanks Riz :p

Hi, I don't know if somebody has mentioned earlier but the discovery scanner can play 3 tones.
Perhaps thats a usefull information for the sound-thoeory.
I didn't trigger the scanner till the end.
I pressed the scan button an stopped at the second "N" of the word "Scanner" above the blue charging line and immediately repeated this. The tones in fact change.

Why should the tones change when not for any purpose ?
