But hey, many of us (myself included) probably have a ton of misconceptions about SC, so it's only fair they get things wrong too ;)

But eh. What RSI now need to do is buckle down and focus on the game itself. Let the drama be drama, and release something good when it's ready. Dunno about the daily updates though, I kinda agree that this is usually the job of team management to NOT let the outside hubbub infiltrate into the team or vice versa.

i dont think we will see it for a while c.r is famous for doing this i dont think most of us will ever see the pu as i think they are trying to hard and most people are just not rich enuff to buy a pc thats good enuff to play it when it finally comes out in like 5 to 10 years i have no confidence in it at all now

I remember that. SC could demonstrate a ship battle happening around a carrier. ED had Brabem chatting away with some clouds behind him, and it wasnt for months until we saw the first ships. That was how it was.

Oh to be fair, when the Kickstarter was starting, SC had to show off a *lot* more than ED. I didn't back ED until after there was some actual content to be seen, and then only for beta level. It wasn't before I saw the first actual alpha 1 footage that I bumped that up to alpha level.

So yeah, I agree that initially, the ED kickstarter did not have much in terms of actual content to show. The closest we got was a bit of flat shaded 3d stuff running on the monitors behind David Braben talking, and that first asteroid fight footage was not really amazing either.

I think being honest about the shortcomings of ED is the best way to win people over, especially those who simply won't even take a look at ED and are just gushing all over SC still. ED isn't perfect. But any SC fan who dismisses ED without even giving it a look is doing themselves a big disservice ;)

:) I don't even have an account over there but is comforting to see that we have a number of ambassador's over there who are very polite and set the record straight when information needs to be corrected, such as Dante80

Yeah i found that strage. Usually these types of cross-forum postings doesn´t end well :)

Just to add my 0.02cents. Although i prefer ED, i also follow SC closely and have faith that it will be good game when it will be released (haven´t backed it, but probably will when PU is closer). Lets give CiG devs time. Looks like it will be long road (to PU), but i have belief they can make good game.

If SC is successful it will only help ED. When SC generates (positive) interest, it will also draw crowd to the ED.

I don't know man. I hear that a lot but with the way ED is progressing, I really don't think they need any favors. At the same time too large a crowd isn't necessarily a good thing. From my experience as an SC backer it means the mainstream crowd and people demanding things like 3PV and more space shooter less space sim. Big time doubled edge sword if you're a core gamer.
