UAs, Barnacles and other mysteries Thread 8 - The Canonn

Hi everyone, just some thoughts about what I read the last week in this thread.

I am not meaning to discourage people with new thoughts or less popular hypothesis, but please consider this.

All we need to know is in the information we have, the UP, what it does e.g. points to, and the audio file that contains an image. Even though we might not yet have found all the hidden information in the audio file, it does contain all we need to solve this puzzle.
If we assume that this is a map, that points to a specific location, may it be a galactical feature like a nebular, a solar system feature like a star or planet or moon, or a specific spot on a celestial body.
Please keep the following in mind

Celestial bodies and galactically features are constantly moving, yes a nebular will move very slowly so maybe we can ignore that, but when it comes to a position in a solar system or on a celestial body, we need reference points that do not change. The position of the sun e.g. is constantly changing except for planets, that are tidally locked and in orbit around it. Same for moons and its host planets.
So whatever we suggest, must be true now, in two hours, tomorrow and even next week… (Well I guess we will find what we are looking for until GamesCom since it would just be too great a PR gag to miss on that ;) )

Also, if you overlay the image over a map of a star system and or planet, moon, please keep in mind that those are 3 dimensional entities and the information we have is 2 dimensional as long as we do not find a way to make it 3 dimensional as some already did.
What I am trying to say is, that there is a lot of ways to apply a 2 dimensional map over a 3 dimensional object. And you can literally stick it onto the planet’s surface e.g. in a million different directions, rotations, positions. So we do need reference points which are fix, like surface features or the fact that it is tidally locked and the same side always points to the hosting celestial body etc.

Thus whenever you apply it to something, you need to make sure that it can only be applied in one way so that at any given time it points to one specific point or area. And it needs to be repeatable.

Hope I am making sense here ;)

The markings on and around the sphere "planet" seem to mean basic maths things iv written them on the chart below. i know this has been done but just in case some one spots something. i think the symbols in the corners are a bit misleading at the moment and are resolved possible once the maths is done.

E.g. barnacles are in planets, and even if they are related to the UA/UP they might not necessarily be connected to 'the mystery', so I'd say lets not turn that into a conclusion.

well the probe points to 5c anyway so my comment still stands either way

The 2.1 patch introduced space areas (e.g. ship lines, orbital space around bodies etc), so yeah, even pointing to 5c, it could be just related to the 3-4Ls close to the planet (when the left/down indicator says you are close to that body). We can't tell yet if the mystery involves planet landing.

I think it is merely a wreck with a data point on it, apparently common....did anyone see the utube post of the guy finding a massive square hole in a planet, looking very artificial , dropped down it , drove about the floor in srv, odd open corners with lattice pattrn behind

post is called Elite-Dangerous Cave Diving by FuNkY 4 weeks old

sorry I am a luddite, have't a clue how to do a link

Cool, so E: D can do caves, at least simple ones. I wonder if that is a test case for elsewhere- presumably its unfinished 'cos of the gaps in the wall through into the interior that is obviously not finished.

Have you notice that in the update:

what does it mean exactly ???

I wanted to ask the same thing! :O
Has anyone recorded the probes ambient sound for more than 6 minutes?

it cound mean that the sound requires time compression from 6 minutes to clearly identify something.. a pattern in the whale sounds?

The answer you're looking for is provided

Noticed that as well: I think it is about the NORMAL UP transmission:

And that's because a Canister LIFE is 6 minutes: I can assume the total transmission of the UP now lasts more than 6 minutes, so we were not able to hear all of it.
Now it will be 6 minutes.
Time to record it all again, and check the purrs.

You're saying that we are looking for something which is somewhere in the galaxy and we will need unique reference points to find it.

Yeah, we got that. ;)

it is a bug(look under the planet with the external camera and you will see how the planet surface is constructed)

havent had a chance to load into game for a few days, busy irl, now it is telling me my client is out of date though it gives no prompt to update. win 10 x64... steam version of game... the aliens ahve come :)

well it seems as though the patch hasnt rolled out yet? tho the servers say they are up we cant play until they give us the new update? damn man i have been waiting to fly for almost a week...
