That's what multi-crew is for.

One of our squad members discovered the barnacle-description. At least we know where FD took the design of the UA/UPs from:

(no comment on the "how they perform their copulation"-part...)
Cmdr. Yagi Uda had a good post on page 311. I share that kind of thinking. Atm i have a few problems doing the tests i want to try. The main problem for me is that i don´t have the equipment to make a recording at the needed level of detail (min 192kHz Resolution) or an UP.
IF you want make a secure test on the sound from the UP that you hear by a software and not just by hearing what is played you must have the resolution of 192kHz or higher. Atm i just know only one recording that matches this point. I my mind is every try with a lower resolution just playing and not stable engouh for a solid test.
As it works out, i will be able to do some test with good R&S equipment, thanks to my boss and my boss also confirmed that there are informations. Reason why: the transmitted signal is strong and high so there is something. If there where nothing it would not that intense.
To the member of the Canonn group: i please you to stop saying we have something found but we will it post some day later. Share your thinking and what you have in mind. I personal would to know the resolution of the recording that you are useing and with which software you do it.
For all the other cmdrs, they have made a recording thanks for your work, but the files i have downloaded are too bad in quality and/or resolution. BUT you could make these try by playing with the UP, i can not do that.
I start facing the facts only for now. There is a recording that fits my request and after i´ve done the scans and test with the file i will let you all know what i´ve found or didn´t found. And that you all know which way i gonna try, here is my plan:
1. make a more deeper scan on the 3 buzzers from the UP
2. scann the right and left channel if they are the same or not
3. doing some mathe on the resaults with the use of the wheel
Wish you all good luck the way you try it, let´s find the missing points.
So the UA's purpose is to go out and "Attach itself" to a planet with meta and it has a limited lifespan. It does not eat or accumulate energy.
Now for the UP...
To be fair the goal is solid and I completely understand why they want the answer they got, I just don't understand the correlation between the puzzle and the answer they got. If they do prove the connection to be satisfactory then I'm keen to believe but for now it's a pretty large gap.
If this is the case, it should be easily testable and re-creatable right? UA are significantly easier to come by than UP. I was thinking the UP was the final larval stage.
one of many gfx glitches you get when opening the system map. known - just a bug.
Why is 192Khz needed? Doesn't the sample rate relate to the highest frequency that can be resolved in the signal being sampled (highest frequency sampled is 1/2 the sample rate?)? is the game really producing audio at 90+Khz?

But thats the point, it doesn't improve visual acuity, it increases the frequency range that can be resolved? - And during FFT analysis (to produce the spectrograph), unless you double the number of bins you are actually gonna be reducing the visual acuity by increasing the number of frequencies represented per bin? ANd even if you do double the FFT bins, all you will see extra is visual information in the higher frequency range. I think all you are going to get are reflections in the higher frequency bands.
I think this has actually already been done and posted somewhere else in this thread, and discredited too.
