do barnacles show up in system map in the new planet materiials section after detailed surface scan?

i'm out exploring and searched on planets with the known specifications in different nebulae but was not lucky.
it would be nice if a detaiiled surface scan would show up barnacles/meta alloys..

Congratulations, you have entered Tempest space!

I don't have a whole lot time for research. But from the first time we discovered the barnacles and stuffed those meta alloys into the stations to get them fixed... I had one scary thought: I hope those meta alloys are not some kinda nano technology and turn against us. Think about it. A UA takes out or damages a stations and some unknown thing on the surface of a planet spits out the cure. I find this strange...

If that idea was tossed around before or meta alloys have alternative sources , never mind.

Cmdr. Yagi Uda had a good post on page 311. I share that kind of thinking. Atm i have a few problems doing the tests i want to try. The main problem for me is that i don´t have the equipment to make a recording at the needed level of detail (min 192kHz Resolution) or an UP.

IF you want make a secure test on the sound from the UP that you hear by a software and not just by hearing what is played you must have the resolution of 192kHz or higher. Atm i just know only one recording that matches this point. I my mind is every try with a lower resolution just playing and not stable engouh for a solid test.

As it works out, i will be able to do some test with good R&S equipment, thanks to my boss and my boss also confirmed that there are informations. Reason why: the transmitted signal is strong and high so there is something. If there where nothing it would not that intense.

To the member of the Canonn group: i please you to stop saying we have something found but we will it post some day later. Share your thinking and what you have in mind. I personal would to know the resolution of the recording that you are useing and with which software you do it.

For all the other cmdrs, they have made a recording thanks for your work, but the files i have downloaded are too bad in quality and/or resolution. BUT you could make these try by playing with the UP, i can not do that.

I start facing the facts only for now. There is a recording that fits my request and after i´ve done the scans and test with the file i will let you all know what i´ve found or didn´t found. And that you all know which way i gonna try, here is my plan:
1. make a more deeper scan on the 3 buzzers from the UP
2. scann the right and left channel if they are the same or not
3. doing some mathe on the resaults with the use of the wheel

Wish you all good luck the way you try it, let´s find the missing points.

One of our squad members discovered the barnacle-description. At least we know where FD took the design of the UA/UPs from:

http://www.microscopy-uk.org.uk/mag...microscopy-uk.org.uk/mag/artjan99/barnac.html

(no comment on the "how they perform their copulation"-part...)

So the UA's purpose is to go out and "attach itself" to a planet with meta and it has a limited lifespan. It does not eat or accumulate energy.

Now for the UP...

Also lets hope the Barnacle on the surface doesn't try to mate. Keep your ships far away!

Why is 192Khz needed? Doesn't the sample rate relate to the highest frequency that can be resolved in the signal being sampled (highest frequency sampled is 1/2 the sample rate?)? is the game really producing audio at 90+Khz?

If this is the case, it should be easily testable and re-creatable right? UA are significantly easier to come by than UP. I was thinking the UP was the final larval stage.

To be fair the goal is solid and I completely understand why they want the answer they got, I just don't understand the correlation between the puzzle and the answer they got. If they do prove the connection to be satisfactory then I'm keen to believe but for now it's a pretty large gap.

Did they get a Thargoid ship?

If not, I can help. :)

"Cast upon the waters
John Bishop, a marine ecologist at the Marine Biological Association of the UK in Plymouth and one of the scientists who coined the term spermcast mating, points out that this mechanism of fertilization is quite different from broadcast spawning, in which some aquatic animals release both eggs as well as sperm into the water."

Spermcasting..

Didnt find the link to an UA-DAtabase, so reporting it here: MEL 22 SECTOR QD-T D3-34, found 2 UA´s in almost no time straight at the star.

For me is this resolution needed. The reason is that you, i, everyone can see what the file contains at a better level of detail. i.e.: why useing a HD-Reciver but watching the TV on an old black-whit TV?

You're right, the game almost certainly is only using 48kHz sample rate. There have been a few spectrographs on the forum here that were taken at a higher sampling rate, and the only 'extra information' you see are artifacts from oversampling. Without looking at the game files we can't be certain, but I'd put money on it not being higher than 48.

Hey everyone. I haven't meticulously read recent posts, but it is already evident, to me at least, that we indeed tend to over-complicate things. I strongly believe that we can solve the alien mystery without knowing what the UP message means or even without knowing that UAs send wireframe blueprints of our ships. And this is because I find it unacceptable for a game to require 3rd party software (unrelated to gaming), to progress with the story. I believe that those spectrograms, wireframes and sound waves are just easter eggs put by FD for our amusement but are not at all necessary to solve the puzzle. We have to think within the in-game mechanics and resources if we want to progress any further and the solution might have been under our noses all this time. Anyway, I just thought to post my thoughts on this subject, hoping not to see many disappointed faces and angry posts towards game designers, if they prove to be correct.

But thats the point, it doesn't improve visual acuity, it increases the frequency range that can be resolved? - And during FFT analysis (to produce the spectrograph), unless you double the number of bins you are actually gonna be reducing the visual acuity by increasing the number of frequencies represented per bin? ANd even if you do double the FFT bins, all you will see extra is visual information in the higher frequency range. I think all you are going to get are reflections in the higher frequency bands.

I think this has actually already been done and posted somewhere else in this thread, and discredited too.

Maybe you are right and i am the one how is wrong. BUT if it is not tested
and proved as right or wrong so long it stands in the room. If my plan works our i will be able to make a full scan of the file i have and which one i use with a ESR spektrum analyser from R&S range that this thing can handle 5Hz up to 26.5GHz.
