Yeah, I spent a good few days searching the Heart and Soul nebulae for UP's. Only found Degraded Emission USS's. found a good few new systems though :D

It's been cleared up a few times that UP's and UA's and the Formidine mysteries are seperate.

Hi, first post.

I haven't read all 393 pages so if I'm repeating an existing idea I apologise.

I've been listening to sped-up (x16) Barnacle audio. The pattern of tuba-like notes seems quite random, but they're fairly evenly spaced and seem to play on 6 fairly distinct notes (C#, D, Eb, G#, A, Bb - three pairs of perfect fifths if it's of any interest, also could just be low-note / high-note). I then had a random thought about the Barnacles 'song': Do they all have the same audio pattern wherever they are in the galaxy?

I'm not sure why but it made me think of the film 'Independence Day' where the aliens had encoded a countdown in their transmissions. If the songs match, maybe this is a countdown to something.

Would it be possible to get two commanders to two different sets of Barnacles at the same time and see if the patterns match? Sadly I don't have the knowledge to record the in-game audio myself.

Just a thought.

That is one heck of a stretch though because the code obviously is a repeating signal and the likelihood of the degrees and minutes combination above is way too low.

Ordered Pair 15-20-19-05-01-06-15-20-19-05-01-06 as well as many other combinations.
Whatever this code is it repeats just repeating like a beacon.

All of the number combinations here just plot out to be triangles or just a mess. So far it means nothing.

Yes, they have the same pattern regardless of location and/or the type of equipment used (see first page on this thread). It could certainly be a countdown though - albeit knowing Frontier's previous gems that seems a bit unlikey

The probe image is a pentacle of sorts for finding out the correct alignment of 5c and 5. With the correct alignment, timing and positioning, one can see the images on the surface of Merope 5c and most likely drop a probe to read the full message.

A day on Merope 5c is 6.6 days real time. So it's not wonder people aren't seeing them as well the window is relatively small. The sparkling HUD may also be an indicator of being in the right location/lighting.

If we can turn the image into a sort of clock then we'll be able to find the exact time of alignment to perform the "ritual" (dropping the probe). Based upon when I first saw images on the surface (Sunday evening/Monday morning) Saturday should also have a "ritual" window.

It's been hinted at for ages now. Section PR5 row 2 seats 5&6 *perfect viewing height* dead center ice.

The radiation on the probe image represents illumination from Merope 5.

What better way to fool a group of people who are highly scientific than to make the puzzle something arcane/occult in nature.
Perhaps there is a solution in the code but I believe the ultimate solution involves Merope 5c and Merope5. Michael Brookes did state that some aspects involve the surface.
So if you agree we have work to do before Saturday. I have coordinates to the general area I saw images, which last I checked was too dark to see anything, but at least it's a starting point.

I agree with your premise. A few of us have put forth the Newgrange theory based upon the symbol's similarity to the monolith, the symbols on the kerbstones, and the Winter Solstice event that occurs there. I plan on being on Merope 5C on Saturday for as long as possible. The question is whether an UP is needed to see whatever there may be to see. Perhaps some nice commander in possession of one would like to bring one by for the sake of science?

A random thought I had: A black hole horizon is a good measure stick and Maia has a black hole. The heavily distorted Image to the right of the clear Image..maybe that could fit with the space distortion of a black hole... but guess that is far outside what we can expect as puzzle inside a game and the probe doesnt point to maia... therfore thought deleted again.

For the first time in over a hundred years, a new ship has been added to the Tionisla Orbital Graveyard. Established in the 3100s, the mausoleum was originally a resting place for the rich and famous, but in the economic slump that befell the Old Worlds during that period, the graveyard fell into disuse.

With the graveyard having fallen into disrepair and many of its relics vandalised or looted, it came as something of a surprise when the Tionisla government received a request to inter a recently deceased Commander.

Despite the unusual circumstances, the government of Tionisla processed the application with surprising swiftness, prompting speculation that the individual may have been some kind of celebrity.

Just before the vessel was moved to its final resting place, an onboard beacon briefly activated, transmitting a repeating sequence of curious characters. This continued for a few minutes until a power failure silenced it. The message read "OTSEAFOTSEAF" The significance of the transmission, if any, is unclear.

"I wouldn't worry about it," said Grace Mayweather of the Tionisla government. "We see this sort of thing all the time. It's just a last bit of mischief from the recently deceased. Tricks, codes – sometimes even traps for the unwary. People go mad trying to work these things out, but they never mean anything."

The identity of the Commander in question is not known, but the ship was identified as an antique Cobra Mk III with the unusual hull registry of 'Cor meum et animam'.
