So you want to know about the Formidine Rift? (Part 3)

But that cannot be true as this mystery was solvable since beta. if we require atmospheric landings (Which wont be christmas will most likely be next season) then what they said about solving the mystery and everything else since beta was all false statements which i doubt they would do.

You stubborn little....
Man, the mystery was about earth-like, waterworld, ammonia world cluster - I'm talking about dozens, maybe hundreds of them in a 500 ly radius , rougly. Have you found anywhere in the galaxy such condensation? Else than bubble? Think it's coincidence, that I found it exactly at the end of the line ? All those mentions about sterilised worlds? Graveyards etc?

So everyone could find the cluster from beta, so what? He saw exactly what we are seeing now, with or without Horizons. And can do nothing. Those words were another trick to distract too clever guys.

Think, just think.

I am currently right in the middle of the rift heading for the New Arm far edge, it is not an easy crossing for the last ten or so jumps it has been "jumpomium", most stars are 60 to 80 LY apart. I am travelling almost exactly on the Galactic plane and every system is undiscovered and nothing special, as an explorer I deep scan every system and have found nothing unusual period, after reading this thread maybe I should visit more systems as nearly every star has an evil twin 5-9 LY away which I generally don't bother with.
What am I missing, is there something specific I should be looking for? I have a 4G planet suite so I can land (in fact you cant make this journey without collecting materials, I have had two jumps of 108+ LY up to now) and look for something significant?

Just read again this quote, that you have on the first page.

"You don't know what I've seen. I've sailed beyond the Formidine Rift, seen the fleets of Octagonal ships blocking out the stars. I've stood on lost worlds, sterilised clean by the Thargoids and erased from humanity's maps. I've seen the graves from the Thargoid wars, countless headstones stretching beyond the curvature of the horizon, little spots of reflected light dottering the abandoned continent ..."

Anything seems to be fitting?

I've been thinking. Something that has been there that we could have done since beta is to listen. I've been listening and cataloging. Maybe it's far fetched but if I hear something I will for sure go check it out. These stars have sometimes distinct sounds to them. Clicks and beats. Pitches and duration. Has anyone been doing this?

I have 50ly jump range and never used jumponium, most jumps are like 46 only because I use fastest.
Question : did you plot your route as it was suggested? Those bookmarks really come handy , remain at height of 48 and you'll find lots of stars out there.

I've honestly noticed this too. Sometimes I hear weird noises viewing/mousing over systems in the Galmap.

But probably nothing... lol

In case someone don't believe me..
Such systems, close together, lots of them, on the edge of the galaxy in a place where every explorer would never go. Just to be sure, the story will slowly grow. Well played.

Are you here yet?
The funniest part was that I was looking for anything unusal...just some planet scans and go further...then wait, what's that? two water worlds and an ammonia in one system? next jump , earth like and ammonia? next jump again...so , the rather usual thing became the unusal one :)

Sorry for spam, thought it would automerge.
Just found another Earth like i similiar system as above. Flying on economic now.

I tried to fly really close to one of them to look for any signs, those little spots of reflected light dottering the abandoned continent, but had no luck.
Someone will say -this is it, the rest of the quest, check every EL in the rift for reflecting light. Sure, lets do this, but I'm sure it was the bubble itself. The flickers wasn't there, back in beta.

I'm just going to guess at what it is. It's probably an image that the old women from Altera had a flash back of. Probably along the lines of a feline, bird, crustacean, and bugs. But it's most likely the opposite direction from where we're searching. What would make it harder to find would be that it's actually on a nebula "keep your eyes on the skies". To make things harder it would also have to be something that requires specific timing to see. Seems unlikely though. If anyone posted that they wouldn't be believed anyways.

Something just occurred to me, as people have pointed out Advanced Discovery Scanners didn't exist earlier in the game. Someone else also mentioned that "look to the skies" and "watch your six" could mean to look behind you for gravitational lensing from a black hole or wormhole. Since ADS didn't exist earlier in the game the only way to find a black hole would have been to look around you and search for lensing while you move, so they could have been on to something there.

That's a great point but Jesus where to look. That goes beyond finding a needle in a hay-stack.

We may well be on the right track in terms of system clusters that are meaningful. Sounds like my idea is worth checking in to. Whoever is out there, humor us and look for black hole systems following the search parameters we have previously discussed in this thread... EAFOTS that intersects with heart & soul, following the line beyond the rift, etc.

As promised I flew up to one of the black holes to check for anything unusual. Didn't notice anything, still had a body exclusion zone. It did make for a neat screenshot though. EDIT: This black hole was one that roughly aligned between the heart and soul facing towards the bubble.

True, it was expectations vs. reality. Hoped to find a wormhole, found a world cluster, possibly new bubble. Well.

Can some of you guys, come , catalogue and explore the possible Formidine Rift? Instead of wandering in the dark ? Here's some real job to do.

Dang, that's really pretty. I just love that effect every time I see it. Cool how you can still see the stars that are between you and the event horizon. Just because that one is a normal black hole, does not mean there is not one that is not. ;) There must be a dozen black holes our there. Also consider stars bordering the black holes. It's certainly possible there is something right near the event horizon that is worth a look.

I've been exploring around the eafots sector as well as around the heart and soul to check for anything unusual. Flown around some planets to check for battle scars/bomb craters as suggested by other players, nothing out of the ordinary yet other than a few random POIs and USS. I haven't really gone into the 'rift' part of the area yet, but I'm going to head out that way later today.

Oh ,that quote fits perfectly to my hypothesis!

I found lots of colonizable worlds, but for now they're looking just like anywhere else :) Because we need upcoming expansion which will enable us to visit those worlds and find out the differences. Guys, its really that simple. Drew told many times that you're approaching to this problem wrong way.
I'm telling ya, this is it.

But...goddamit what have I done. Hope I'll somehow make it first to a base with UC ;)

He also said we do not need horizons to participate in the rift mystery.

It doesn't workj for everyone, I'm not sure why, maybe the OS? I use Windows 8 and EDD just crashes on instal every time.

Ah, fair enough - never had nay issues with it so I am kind of oblivious to that. Pardon my ignorance! Shame, would have been nice to see a 3D map representation of where other CMDR's have already been.

Z...

Current at eafots sd-s d4-3 and making my way to the edge of EAFOTS. Haven't seen any black holes as of yet and I've been at it for some time. Just have to keep looking for those of us that are out here.
