Are the odd sounds/noises normal around a blackhole? I swear I hear UA/UP style sounds just before you see the ship fly by the very bottom there...

Got enough money now - 3,3 Mio and the insurance is just 930K. Guess what HIP 17000 is just 25,3 LY away. I do some jump tests first (want to jump while beeing IN the horizon, not before or after, will record audio/video and upload if interesting results.

Be really funny if the UPs are stuck in the Merope system because they can't jump like a UA.

The UA's sent back images of OUR ships. So what if the image from the UP isn't an image of THEIR shell, but of OUR bubble? Maybe the line from the center of the diagram is a line drawn from the center of the bubble to Merope?

(I'm going to assume this, like everything else, has been mentioned already so I'm gonna stop talking now).

might well have been mentioned a while ago (indeed I thought perhaps it was more related to us for the same reason - perhaps the location of Sol) - but this is a particularly simple way of putting it, worth repeating. +rep

Was my first thought too Anyone ever tried to lock the nav-comp on a target behind a black hole and jump through the event-horizon?
Should be possible though, as the physical radius of the black-hole per definition is below a planck-length, hence it cannot shadow the target - same logic as if jumping through a sun´s corona, You can, as the sun´s body doesnt shadow the target, but You get the effects of corona (heat-alarm). Damn if I wasn´t low on money i´d try immediately

This is a testable theory.

We have been through similar 'I thought I heard a UP sound there' moments before. A lot of the ambient sounds in various places share similarities to the UP/UA. Doubtful it's anything.

Exactly, that's why I was asking someone with more experience with the UA/UP sounds to have a closer listen/analysis.

Rather ask what nebula +- 500 ly to focus on. Narrow it down to a few thousand systems to search!
