Greifed at Founders

Been there a couple of sessions now working on rep with the factions mission running , other than the odd interdiction in neighbouring systems and almost crashing into a couple of the SDC in the jameson mailslot (my bad i didnt see you till too late and the cutter dont like quick direction adjustments) its been relatively quiet.

On a more related note , it sounds like you were either looking for trouble or upto no good. Flying a shieldless sidewinder in one of the more heavily populated stations is never going to end well for you but i would hardly call it griefing, that word is very overused in elite and moat of the complaints were "someone killed me, iwas griefed" which doesnt even come close to actual griefing.

They think they are cool but are really a bacteria, once everyone has left open they will have to feed on themselves.

I dont mind getting killed for their fun if they pay my insurance like GTA and we have a proper police and fine system, it should be very very difficult to get away with a crime at founders and hi tec systems.

Not an issue if you are not speeding , have had a few suicidopsychos come at me in my travels and since i generally go under 100 when in populated areas i incur no penalties... so its easily countered.

Shinrarta Dhezra is the perfect place for this kind of mayhem. Why? Any pilot at the founder's world has either been playing for a long time (as a kickstarter backer) or earned their way to Elite status. In either case you are talking about players with experience and probably enough money to easily cover insurance costs. You gotta give them some credit for not targeting newbs in sidewinders.

From a lore POV you might expect some Elite commanders to want to prove themselves against other commanders. Shinrarta is the place to do that. It reminds me of a scene from the movie 'Little Big Man' where Dustin Hoffman's character meets the famous gunslinger Wild Bill Hickok. Hickok complains that his fame has resulted in him having to constantly be on guard against would-be gunslingers wanting to prove themselves. In the film he's force to kill a young kid who pulls a gun on him.

Really? That's what this game has come to?
Jumped on by 4 Cmdrs - The Pilots federation allows this behaviour?
I have names if the officials are interested in revoking permits to this system.
Again this is not greifing you just got killed in open by a wing

Yep, the usual response.
to the usual crying because someone got killed

You've been a forum member for over a year and a half, yet you still think unwanted PvP in Open Mode is griefing???
Someone who has been around as long as you should know that if you do not want any PvP action, play one of the PvE only private groups or Solo.

There really is no reason to complain. Open is as Open does. Switch to Group or Solo if you don't like it.

The problem with this sort of thing for us RP types is that it harms Galactic realism. It should not be possible to commit murder within sight of policed stations with (effective) impunity.

Oft repeated but bears repeating once again: for credibility alone, the game needs a risk/reward and crime/consequence system that, ideally, would provide hunters and hunted with incentives to behave as such within plausible scenarios.

OP is double elite, combat, trade, admiral, king, and has 1bil. Credits at least...He is not begginer. What he is lacking at the moment are facts about been griefed.

Not really. Those occurrences are few and far between. New players would benefit from the advice that it's worth being wary when going to "known" destinations. These include starter systems, CGs and other known points of interest. Aside from that people are more than likely to either not run into anyone or have a friendly experience.

That's because the servers are dead now, compared to what they were 6+ months ago when I left open. However you didn't find all that many kited out high credit ships, so I ran trade routes with my T6 and I managed to get by and escape from players. My advice to new players remains. Open is a perma deathmatch server. Kill everything there except fuel rats or you're gonna get killed first.

Another uneducated PVE'er mistaking idiots for griefing....... PLEASE, unless they pursue you and repeatedly kill you harass you, then its not griefing. Period. What you describe is unfortunate, rude even but working as intended by FD.

I've been in open since Beta. That's terrible advice IMO. Most people are decent, even the Pirates.

I was there last night and witnessed some of the tomfoolery.

Firstly interdicted by a cutter and a fer de lance. I was flying a shieldless, unarmoured and unarmed DBS I.e it was nothing more than a taxi ship.

They took an ABSOLUTE age to kill me. It was like amateur hour.

Then the messing about outside Jameson - the aforementioned cutter cmdr, this time in an eagle attempting to ram me but instead boosting straight past me into the side of the station wall ... Lol.

That combined with his wingmates outside the station, including the Anaconda with the thermal pack hounds ... I do hope he enjoyed his rebuy cost the first time around and the repair bill (25%ish hull when he low waked) the second time?

The only time I died was when the station fired at me, despite not being wanted?! I didn't actually realise what had happened until I watched the cutter cmdr's twitch videos.

The so called "griefers" did a pretty poor job at causing grief but they did provide some entertainment and humour.

That said, I wouldn't actually call them griefers. If you fly in open you have to take people as they come - it's part of the fun and part of the excitement. If you want to avoid them but want human interaction, head to Mobius, if you don't want either head to solo.

I don't get why it is so difficult for some people to get their head around.

Without condemning or condoning their actions, the game in open would be far less exciting without mischief makers.

This is exactly it - no decorum at all in the Founders System. Anywhere else as I've said it's whatever, it's the game.....some respect to this system though imo.
After being jumped on and losing Vette number 1 it was cat and mouse trying to get back in - repeatedly interdicted, escaped. Eventually came up with a plan, parked elsewhere and got a sidey, hopped over to exact some revenge and to tie them up with me to allow more valuable ships the ability to pass in and out unmolested.
The suicidy trick worked - one said Anaconda saw a rebuy screen and after about an hour they eventually went away / fell asleep / mum had come in to spank them....whatever.
Open is open - but Founders? Come on some respect there please.
