Abandoned New Trading Tool: ETN

Say for instance i am in Sol but i want to go to Robigo ...the current setup would have me doing multiple routes that would eventually end up in Robigo...what i propose is a option to say this system is along the route using Economic or Direct route finding so if you have cargo room you might want to stop and take a smoke and coffee break and pick up those [insert commodity] the miners (we all know they are smugglers) at robigo really want.

I'm not quite clear. Are you looking for a direct route from Sol to Robigo? You can enable that by setting "Limit number of trades in route" to max 1 trade.

Please can we have a feature that allows us to exclude specific stations from the route? Currently the best route I'm being offered includes a station that is hostile to me.

Well done, sir. I discovered this tool yesterday from FB, and found a lot more info I can't find from other tools before. Love this tool.

One suggestion, not sure if it's asked for or already exist: is there an option to limit the number of jumps between systems? Sometime when I am lazy or tired, I just want to do some 1-jump trading.

Thanks!

by estimating trade time and maximizing profit/hour. It's called Elite Trade Net. Check it out: http://etn.io
While I like how it's designed, I'm simply unable to see any even nearly profitable routes with it.
I usually calculate my profits summed up in 30 Minutes; so I usually can make up to 2m Cr in 30min using eddb.io but only around 110k in 7 Minutes (~= 471 Cr in 30min) using etn.io.

This project is on a nice road, but I guess it still needs heavy algorithmic improvements. Don't know with how much time it estimates an T9 requiring to dock and undock and to leave the Mass Lock Area, but from what I can tell from my personal experience these times are far away from reality.

Hi!
You've made a awesome tool and I use it daily. I was wondering if it is possible to add a Minimum Profit filter under the Trade Tab that rules out routes that don't generate a sum that you have specified?

So I chose a type-6 transporter (optimized), and set a budget to 200k (cause I'm a noober) and some of the routes it's giving me contain trades with negative values... Wouldn't that mean the trade is really the other way and the route isn't really valid? I'm confused... halp!!!

On further inspection it looks like budget doesn't seem to work. It is giving me some trades that cost 5 million plus when I put in 200k, when previous trades in the route don't add up to 5 million...

I unselect titanium, and it still picks routes with titanium... Sorry if I'm using an out of date tool... I'll try some other ones. I'm just new to the scene

I broke it.

Despite my Asp only having 80T of cargo capacity, it wants me to carry 200T odd of Titanium that I'm apparently supposed to pull out of my backside, as the station doesn't sell it. Even when I deselect, it still wants me to carry Titanium. Please tell me a fix for this is in the works, I'm useless without this tool.

Same problem here. It tells me to buy a Minus-Amount of Titanium. Is the developer (Joshua) still around and interested in this tool? For some tasks it is better than EDDB and I would like to go on using it.

I created a website that provides a user interface and trading algorithm for EDDN/EDDB trade data. It takes a different approach than most existing tools by estimating trade time and maximizing profit/hour. It's called Elite Trade Net. Check it out: http://etn.io

Select your start system/station, pick your ship and set your starting budget. Then follow one of the recommended routes and profit. Use any EDDN-compatible tool to upload live trade data to ETN. I like EDMC. It uploads data from your current station with a single click using the web api provided by Frontier. Other similar tools are discussed here.

Let me know if you have any questions or run into any issues. ETN should run on any HTML5-capable browser and works great on mobile devices.

Have used this tool for some time when trading , i love it as it does the time vs money estimation and builds p2p and loops
great job btw !

I have an issue with the trading tool. I have set my cargo capacity to 2 in the settings and other settings such as fuel capacity. However it keeps telling telling me trades that are out of range and above my cargo capacity. What is this about.
thanks

Needs an update for 1.6/2.1, I think

I see similar things. It would appear ETN has issues with 1.6/2.1, my guess is that it hasn't been updated to correctly parse the new commodities.

If you input the source and destination for that hop into the single-hop finder on EDDB (eddb.io), it will yield a sensible trade, I believe always involving one of the new commodities. I would use this as a workaround until ETN's developer, Joshua Schnarr, fixes it. I've emailed him and offered my help if he wants it...

Hey folks, the issue with bogus trades since 1.6 has finally been fixed. Sorry for the long delay. I've been busy with moving and out of the loop for a while. Finally got some time to work on it now that I'm on vacation. Thanks Hooman for some very insightful feedback that led me right to the issue. It was pretty simple in the end: i was using an 8-bit integer to store the commodity id. During development there were less than 128 commodities in eddb so I thought I was being future proof (640K ought to be enough for anyone, right?). Oops. There are now around about 317 total commodities. The commodity id is in a key data structure that I need to keep small, but it was easy to bump it up to 10-bits for up to 1024 commodities. So we should be set for a while at least!

Good idea. Added it to the list. In the meantime you might be able to steer it away from that station by removing the commodity involved in the trade. Not ideal but might help.

That would be easy to add. Good idea.

Yeah that would be easy. I'll add it in a few days. Good idea.

This was due to the commodity mix up bug. Fixed now.
