So you want to know about the Formidine Rift? (Part 3)

...

Okay so, how about spectroscopy?

Objects (rather than light sources) have both absorption as well as a transmission. I believe with sapphires these are inverse to one another?
You have 3 light sources of different colors and Prism.

That sounds like an Optics puzzle.
These could also function as coordinates, though probably not particularly large ones.

It might also be layers. 400 parsecs, for instance, the should be around 1400 Light Years.
Combine that with the Star Colors of Sapphire, Diamond, and Ruby and you might be able to get coordinates again.

These coordinates, as I'm thinking of it, would probably be in the Gal and specific for that grid or something.

It could be something more wonky though.

Possibly. The Prism system names do have something to do with it somehow. However, Drew has outright stated that the mystery does not require the use of any out-of-game tools, which does at least limit the scope a little:

"I am an avid astronomer, but it's not reasonable for there to be clues that need to be worked out using tools outside of the game. You might be able to reproduce them with Stellarium etc, but these tools aren't required."

The elephant in the room for me is this: "You don't know what I've seen. I've sailed beyond the Formidine Rift, seen the fleets of Octagonal ships blocking out the stars. I've stood on lost worlds, sterilised clean by the Thargoids and erased from humanity's maps."

Nice - My personal favorite Elephant is from Lave Revolution:

"Reorte to Riedquat is another used trade lane, but local pilots talk about problems in the Formidine Rift; something to do with an unchartable area of space and ships going missing."

So It's a little hard to follow this thread 100%, But has anyone noticed the weird lines in the Soul Nebula? (Pic Attached)
I'm fairly positive it's not a graphics card issue. Could this be the "Already seen aspects of it" Comment that Drew made?

It's probably just a rendering issue - I've seen the same out at either California or Jellyfish nebula.

But wouldn't a rendering issue eventually... Render? I've always noticed this about the soul nebula, and it seems to only be visible from a certain angle, specifically from the heart nebula, once viewing it from outside the general area of the heart nebula, it goes away. It's also viewable in the galaxy map...

All I can tell you is that I've seen it elsewhere - it's not Heart/Soul specific.

You can take this one of two ways:
a. a fleet of ships
b. excessively large ships

Hexagonal structures are indicative of

Just to warp your brain a bit:

- That's Abydos, Egypt. The image has been burned into the stone. Figure that out.

The edge of the hexagon can be found by viewing any two outer most vertices. This is very important to pay attention for when looking for since of life in nature. It also aids considerably in hints of water. For example: http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2015/05/22/19/28FD55BF00000578-3093179-image-a-6_1432319582775.jpg

You can find decades of videos and articles written about the "mysteries" of these stones. However, if you look at the cracked sands all around them the answer of how they sail are provided in the geometry of the cracks: hexagons. I.E. Water. Ice forms on the surface of the sands which provides just enough loss of friction that when combined with wind... the stones sail.

Octagons though... I'm not aware of anything living in nature that uses octagons. It would be interesting to find out what does make use of octagons consistently. Anyone know?

The Thargon ships are Octagonal shaped, she is talking about dead Thargoid ships post war.

Ryders have always been leaders of The Dark Wheel. Keep your eyes on Liz!

Yes but did you see the text, what she said? Let me zoom in a bit and put it here -

Surely everyone here gets the reference? Perhaps Liz Ryder enjoys reading the same books as we do? :)

Interesting view back from the edge of EAFOTS to Heart & Soul on the line I took from the bubble that goes down the R-R line.

I'm not saying there's anything to it, 5 stars above H&S are a Pentagram if traced OR they can be a house shape if only tracing the outside.

Doubt it is anything, but since kitties are being seen in nebulas I thought I'd post this. :)

Yeah. I saw the text and also got the reference. Just another bit of evidence to substantiate my theory that she is related to the Ryder family from The Dark Wheel.

This site needs a tinfoil hat emoticon.[wacky]

They could also be an arrow pointing to the star on the right.

I dont get it... could you explain?

In the book Reclamation, the old woman says "Right on, commander" at the end of her holovid.

Also from the original Elite game, I believe every 256 kills a message popped up saying "Right on, commander!".

I am sure there are more, but those were what I was referring to.

See I didn't get the Ryder reference as I hadn't read the Dark Wheel yet. Keeps getting better and better! If they make a tinfoil emoticon they better make a bobble head too haha [yesnod]

Just a note though. SHE is not talking about it because that is not The old Lady's quote. It's a musing of old admiral from 'Here the wheel' (iirc). Not trying to be an a*hole, just felt like pointing it out, as some people tend to confuse this quote for what the old lady said.

And also as earlier mentioned, the statements are not connected; simply the musing of someone talking about their live.

"I've been to Australia, looked out at the landscape from the top of the Empire State Building, seen herds of Wildebeest sweep majestically across the Serengeti."

I'm not sure if this is relevant to the stuff discussed here but ...

Currently I'm at Outopps KO-X C28-0 (Alessia's Pearls on EDSM) and the system map states it was first discovered by Salomé. Is that of any interest? Is it an 'ordinary' player's name (I didn't think names from the story were allowed though) or is it Drew Wagar's character? Or just coincidence.

I'll have a look around. It'd be cool if were something!

This is very interesting - I suggest you look around for other similarly claimed systems and see if we can plot a route.

Salome is a sanctioned player by FD. Its not Drew, and IIRC, Drew said he didn't know who is actually playing her, although I think he is in contact with the player. It might be someone from FD or someone with ties to FD. It is not known if the player has any info from FD that we do not. Just that FD allows them to play the role of Salome.

CMDR Salome will accept friends requests, and plays as part of the CoR player group, see here: http://childrenofraxxla.com/

If you do send them a friend request, don't expect them to respond to requests for info. They probably get bombarded with questions they cannot (or are not allowed to) answer.
