What you can expect is more of the same.

It'll be flashy and all that and then get boring fast as you'll see the lack of depth.

Then it'll be annoying. Instead of being interdicted all the time you'll be pulled out of witch space at ANY random jump by thargoids and destroyed.

So it'll be much more dangerous and probably much more annoying.

Until they add some more exploration content I'm still in snooze mode.

Well...
Yes , but no.

I dont do hype like most others do.

For example I see a new elite trailer , read news about it and then get very giddy and excited however I only take what the devs actualy say as factual.
I dont fill in the blanks.
A good example would be when they talked about 2.0 , they never mentioned AI ships so I assumed that there would not be any.

So I take what they say as literal , and try hard not to add on to what they said.
If they say ''there will be passanger missions'' I assume : Passangers as a ware.
If they say ''passangers will be unique and not a ware'' I assume : it will be a mission type or new gameplay loop of sorts , but I expect the minimum.

I do that with every game.
It helps , I do it with movies as well. (saw rogue one trailer , happy about it looking like dark forces the movie , only... you know canon. and I dont hype up to things that were not said or shown in the trailers)

Hype is dangerous , it helps sales at first but can backfire if the game is not as good as the hype lets on.
Look at NMS , its the SRV mini game and not much more... I think it would be getting a better reception if it had not been hyped up as much by its fans (if you like it , all the power to you... I just think its terrible)

Yes, if you believe the hype you end up with a film like The Force Awakens..... :)

I am really looking forward the The Walking Dead season 6 coming out on Blu-Ray next week.

Expectations for 2.2 are set to low. I really hope FD suddenly shocks us all and we see new mechanics and levers being introduced into the environment for players to pull. Something for us to actually interact with in our environment in a meaningful way. Experience however tells me that we will be left with more shiny power ups and ship based nonsense that will further the actual game in no meaningful way. essentially, Elite will remain just as stagnant until the next update arrives...

you know what my fellow spacers i have had a big change of heart towards ED after NMS.....and i will be watching the full live stream with a close eye and interest.....and a wee bit of excitement.
im back playing every night these days, and enjoying playing it........:O:x

over a 1000 hours easy....with a lot more to come i imagine;)

I wasnt so keen on the slot machine nature of The Engineers, but that aside I like it and everything else that came with the update. The game is much better than it was on release and it would be fun (but unlikely!) for Frontier to put up a version of 1.0 for people to play just as a reminder as to what the game was like.

I wouldn't say I am hyped. I am not even really optimistic. Yeah, 2.1 still has me that jaded. I've got the feeling that whatever awesome they show, there will be a catch, just like "looting and crafting" became "grind for massive RNG stat upgrades and haul these special pirate-magnet commodities around with you everywhere" and "planetary landing" became "nope, exploration still ends with the DSS from 5+Ls away, also your ship wobbles when looking at planets, orbit is not invented here (loot just falls towards the planet) and skimmers have mystical superpowers to disable shields and engines".

"Transport 7 VIPs to LHS 1348 without subjecting them to more than 2G forces"

"But how I see what G forces I'm pulling?"

"That's coming in 2.3"

Attacked by elite pirate NPC.

"Warning, gaining heat."

Great, there comes the Thermal Shock.

"Warning, temperature critical."

Please not the cargo hatch, please not the cargo hatch.

"Module malfunction."

Malfunctioned cargo hatch spews all passengers into the void.

Given how long it's been since the last dev update, I'm quite excited to hear about the next updates/expansion. Any info will do but some gameplay would be nice.

You think there's much going on since the dev updates have petered out?
I pretty much doubt it, as otherwise the dev updates wouldn't have stopped altogether.
