SoulShot with some PTU 2.5h game session.

Wow... That was a whole 45 minutes of virtually NOTHING going on, apart from some blink-and-you'll-miss-it "combat" at the very start and the very end, and a whole load of walking around, looking at ships, not getting the <<USE>> function to work properly, and with the usual bugginess to help garnish the whole mess.

Pretty looking assets. No substance.

People are supposed to be *impressed* by what you showed?

CIG expect to make a *profit* from this, that is *if* they ever get this game released?

Pull the other one!

*Edit* WTFosaurus giving his verdict on 2.5 during his Twitch stream earlier on...

I wonder, will this be what will be facing those Twitch streamers who will be showing off the "game" at Gamescom this week? A barely functional as it is game that is virtually unplayable due to glacial frame rates and a constant stream of bugs and glitches?

I understand that it's a work-in-progress, but I found myself surprised at just how "jarring" a lot of the audio was.

Effects sounded out of place, or provide what was clearly meant to be an attempt at humour or involvement that just failed miserably. There isn't much consistency within itself. Not to mention some of the most irritating background music I've heard in a long time.

And those gun sounds. Just, meh, meh, and more meh.

The Twitch thing is clever; that way the streamers take the flak for the state of the live game, in streams hardly anyone will probably watch, while Roberts holds court in front of some glossy, pre-recorded tech demos for the benefit of the gaming press.

WTFOsaurus continues to suffer for the cause of Star Citizen....

https://www.twitch.tv/wtfosaurus/v/83785565

It gets so bad for him that he has to log into the just-as-broken 2.4 patch iteration, just to get to play the game slightly more smoothly.

It's still just as boring, buggy and sterile, but at least the frame rate is a tad better... but only because hardly anyone else was on 2.4 therefore keeping the servers from slowing to a crawl!

So how's this game going to handle 1000 players simultaneously when it can barely deal with 16 players running around in it?

Your last five posts have been nothing but listing issues that people are already well aware of. The game is in development; there are going to be issues. If you are going to invest so much energy on the game surely you would be better off adding something of value to the conversation?

But McGlashan, the Twitch streamers (there will be four of them I think)... they are going to be RIGHT there at Gamescom with CIG! I'm not talking about people who are streaming the game at home while the event goes on, these dudes will be present on the show floor, with a gaming/computing set up determined by CIG.

If things go wrong during the 5 days of livestreaming, that won't be their fault, it would be the game and CIG's fault (since Roberts and co would have set the computers up in such a way as to attempt to minimize the obvious server lag and de-sync problems currently crippling the PTU).
Not that it will help much with the hilariously regular bugs and clipping through structures issues that ALL iterations of the PTU have afflicting them!

If Chris Roberts then tries to show off some pretty looking, pre-recorded, pre-rendered "live" gameplay sequences of either Squadron 42 or, more likely, the procedural planets for the "Jesus patch" 2.7 to the press-only event, it will just highlight the disconnect between the game as it ACTUALLY is to what CIG HOPE the game will be "soon"(TM).

Sorry, if there was anything even remotely positive to post about the "game", then I would be happy to do so.

The rather obvious problem here is that, well, there is NOTHING positive to show of Star Citizen.

Also, these are issues that have been afflicting the game for YEARS, not a few weeks, or a couple of months. YEARS. And so far CIG have shown a rather worrying inability to actually do something to mitigate and fix those issues, no matter how many "Bugsmashers" episodes or Issue Council messages they receive at the RSI website.

Also, how long is your rather lame "this game is in development" excuse going to carry on being used to try and let CIG off the hook for basically standing still and building pretty assets whilst not building a solid foundation of a game... Another year? 2 years? 10?

But hey, if you have anything POSITIVE to say or show about Star Citizen, then by all means, post away your OWN videos of you playing the game and having actual FUN with the PTU as you "test" it. Not videos from CIG or an affiliate, something that you did yourself though.

I'm sure folks here will be grateful for your contribution. :)

It's the equivalent of watching a child drown a cat and then saying "yeah well, you know... Kids always have issues. It's part of growing up."
There's issues and then there's issues. It's hard to find an angle from which Star Citizen is shown in a positive light.

Credit where it's due CiG are great at getting people to buy overpriced incomplete in-game pay to win items for a badly delayed buggy game, great may not be the right word horrifically efficient may be a better description.

They've grabbed 120 million in pre-orders so far, that in itself has to be regarded as an achievement. It may come back to haunt them (and cripple crowdfunding) if the games terrible on release or cancelled.

The game is in development is a such a lame excuse for current state of the SC,seems like you forgot that the game is 2 years behind their own schedule and still we can not see some basic game-play implementation and things that we can see looks mostly boring and lame....Where is mining?Bounty hunting?Trading? How you going to implement economy to be righteous?...You need to realize that for each of this proffesion when they get introduce in game CIG will need years of tweaking and polishing to make it work for public and yet after 4+ years they didn´t even scratch that surface. It is obvious that CIG is struggling to release a single player campaign SQ42 that is going to be delayed once again and yet we have CR with no shame that continues to lie on daily basis.....
