The Star Citizen Thread v5

BTW, anybody wondering why all the monitors where the streamers will be playing the game AREN'T facing out towards the gaming public who will be coming by the booth?

Couldn't be because CIG are worried that people who aren't heavily invested into Star Citizen might actually get to see what the game is ACTUALLY like, rather than what the CIG folks SAY it *will* be like?

*Edit* Also, looking even more closely at the booth, not only are the gaming monitors facing away from any attendees to the booth, but the two monitors that will be showing what's happening while the streamers play SC are way too small... You won't be able to see much of anything at all if you're standing where the photographer took this picture... AND all that prime real estate for a HUGE screen that will give people a good view of what's been played? Nope, keep that for the less-than stellar "Idris" bridge background!

Are CIG trying to be the most incompetent gaming company in existence or what?

It does seem odd that they effectively stopped people from watching over other people's shoulders.

Not really - FD had/have the same setup for their live streams at Gamescon. You need space around the play area for all your thngs - drinks, notes etc and also room for chairs for guests on the streams. Having people stand in that space is very distracting.

Also - the streams from FD were shown on the screens around the booth, so there was no need for anyone to stand to watch the streams screen. I would assume that the same will be true for the SC booth. It's a pretty standard way of doing live streams at a show.

Even so, why then the tiny tv's on the wall of there set, which attendees will barely be able to see what's being played by the streamers?

Why no big screen at the back to give them something they can actually *see*?

If folks want to watch hours worth of unintentional comedy, here's the Star Citizen Twitch stream...

https://www.twitch.tv/starcitizen

They are spending an *inordinately* long time discussing how to set up your controls scheme (all gamepads and mouse, no mention of HOTAS at all), not much playing of the actual GAME though.... I wonder why....

There are people in the stream chat asking why the streamers are focusing on showing off the different ships in the Hanger module, instead of showing off the actual PTU.... This is classic! XD

Also anybody mentioned a certain enemy number one for Star Citizen in the chat has the message removed instantly. XD

Also also, it has to be said, Star Citizen has their biggest outing of the year so far (after their no-show at E3) and they can't get enough viewers on Twitch to get it past Diablo 3 speed runners... and the vast majority of the watchers are from this one Gamescom livestream. There are only 13 streamers showing Star Citizen, including this one, and another 3 of them are watching the Gamescom stream themselves!

Star Citizen's totally going to be a roaring success guys!

One last thing.... 2.5 is NOT being played... it is 2.4.1, just as buggy, but just about playable enough for it to not breakdown every 30 seconds or so. :)

Well I was thinking of EGX when people could stand behind people playing - and the launch when the screens faced outwards.

Haven't seen the Gamescom setup.

The SC booth last year was a small one with 2 (or maybe 3) PC's. It was always crowded with lots of people blocking the corridor, but that was because you actually couldn't get more than 5 people into the small space.

ED had much more room and large screens hung all round the booth, so that the streams could be seen from all over.

They are avoiding the PTU like the PLAGUE! Now they are in Arena Commander, that totally stable, and not buggy, mis-matched, virtually ignored module with broken AI and missile mechanics that CIG have refused to fix... This is amazing! XD

And they just crashed out of Arena Commander!

Holy balls this is messed up! XD

There are only about what, 12/13 attendees standing by at the CIG booth... everybody else is walking by without paying any mind to Star Citizen!

Also if you look carefully at Cam 3, you can see some attendees trying the game and I've already seen some of them bugging out in the game and looking super-confused about what's going on before getting up and walking away!

Oh no though, Star Citizen will be the best game ever! XD

That was just.....hilarious....especially when they wait&wait on the loading screen of the "broken moon".....well I guess they could not figured if it is broken or the game just loading for 10 min......circus as usual with CIG.....

It's press day. The great hordes of people arrive tomorrow.

Press day? Even better! Now actual press peeps can get to see and play some Star Citizen for a bit. Even better publicity for CIG... just not sure if it will be the "good" kind that they need. :)

Also, those numbers at the booth won't improve when the main doors are opened to the public tomorrow either.

*Edit* BTW, those two tiny tv monitors I mentioned earlier... it's showing a 30 second loop of various cuts of trailers and snippets of gameplay, nothing from what the streamers are doing. Incredible! :D

*Breaking news* Straight from Disco Lando himself, there will be no Star Marine shown at Gamescom! XD

They will go to the tickling room, after that they will report nice stuff about SC.

I'm very confused:S

For someone that don't even own the game you sure waste a lot of time on it. Discussing in forums, watching videos, streamings, looking for news...
Are you sure you not a backer?

From which country do you hail, friend?

You certainly are confused. You've been a member of these forums for a year, and yet have only ever talked about Star Citizen in all that time!

Did you make a wrong turn on the internet or something? You realise these are the Frontier forums, not the RSI ones?

With that being said, you're discussing Star Citizen on the Elite forum yourself :D :D :D

Just gonna drop this in here because I do remember some questioned the networking.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QeZtqoydXpc&ab_channel=DualUniverse

Granted that his isn't CIG's tech but it's a nice representation of how it will work which is basically how I described it several pages back.
It will still have the ps2 problem
the more players in instance the smaller the instance will be.
Imagine capital ship getting harassed by single fighter team without being able to fire back. Because the fighters are outside the instance.
I dont know how dual universe is going to solve that. And they haventh showcased ship to ship combat yet.
Hype and promises always 1 thing. Actually doing it is always different

In the SC thread? ;)

This whole thread is just a lame attempt to advertise SC on the Elite Forums.
I wouldnt be suprised if Chirs Roberts started it under a fake name.

I wonder if theres an Elite Dangerous thread on the SC forums? Does anyone know?
