Boo Hoo it's all so hard!

And the key to success includes use of the railgun - which is a tricky skill to master. :)

I don't know, it was pretty useless in Alpha 2 and 3, but I stuck one on my Sidey at the end of 4.3, and it seemed at lot easier than I remembered. The only issue with it, is that it heats the ship up pretty fast.

I expect you haven't had to deal with a hacker yet, Highest gear in the lands and shields no gun can take down! Most of the stories are due to those people, There is a huge learning gap but I'd never claim it to be hard, I'd claim it to be close to dark souls :p

The crackers (hacker is somebody with expert knowledge in a system, a cracker is just a criminal) are still getting to run rampant. Their "fun" will end soon enough.

Sorry Ben but it should be a game of depth and width with a low entry point that is easy to understand but takes a lifetime to master. Some folk are coming back to this having not played many games for years. Some folk are not physically as well suited as they once where. Some folk like myself have less time to practice and what seems to be evident is that to do well you need to master advanced techniques like flying with FA on and off, which is a steep learning curve for many.

Its not that being hard is wrong, is that if the brick wall falls on you, you walk away disgruntled and the game fails owing to a lack of appeal. It should be easy to get into, deep and wide, so that to master it takes a while, but to enjoy it takes no time at all.

Ab

I agree mostly with you, but sometimes people complain with out much trying or just because they can.

The game gets a lot easier if you ask the right questions on the forums ;). I got NOWHERE yesterday, but because of these forums, I am now a mildly successful trader who dabbles in bounty hunting :). I still kind of suck in a turning-fight but I just need to practice more :D

The key with that is to map vertical thrusters for combat and use them in conjunction with pitching. And have a go at clicking boost while your at it ;)

I find the dificulty curve adecuate...

Yes the beginning is a hell till you find out what you need to be doing and when. and yes finding hard NPCs at the beginning can make you have an unfair start... But the sidewinder is good enough to get you out of most troubles, and the longer you play the more concepts stick in your mind....

I find the game learning curve quite fun tbh.... and its epic when you stop running away from pirates on trade runs and start fighting back ^^

Yeah kind of when in darksouls you get some decent gear and you get the hang of it... but this game is all about knowing when to fly and when to fight.

To become Elite certainly requires a lot of learning, work and patience. If the game is made to last for years, it can not be otherwise

Takes a bit of working out on first goes, but do get there in the end.

Finally managed to land. Never sure if the landing gear is deployed.... If the fuel scoop tells you it is deployed, then why can't the landing gear? :S

Will practise this a few more times now so I don't waste more cargo :)

It does - on the right panel UI... <sigh>

Would be nice to have a separate indicator that is visible at all times for it, though. Aircraft usually have big green/red lights in the cockpit to indicate whether the gear is up or down. It is pretty critical system after all.

There are already countless threads about this already... it's old news.

May be it just me but I think the fact the game is name elite give you a clue that this isn't going to be an easy game to play. :D

actually there will be many options in the final game. You can do combat, you can mine, you can trade. though i imagine the best experence will be a combination of all three. my idea it seems would be to use trading or mining or cargo misison running to earn up credits in order to get a better ship with better weapons then once you have done that you can go get into combat more as for me the basic sidewinder with the non targeting weapons are a bit frustrating, and for a non pro gamer...that indeed may be difficult..but thats the fun of elite dangerous you can start with trading or mining (though i would not be suprised if you may have to defend yourself a bit with mining unless you find areas without enemies which could be possible say in a planets rings (if you are able to mine them)

but i think the game is fine not too "difficult" i was a bit worried how the interceptions from supercruise would be.. i did not quite like the idea at first of being a trader and being forced into combat situations like that, however for the most part i find (as long as your paying attention when you are supercruising which you honestly need to do anyways) the second you get pulled out push to full engines and throddle up and run till you can jump out (here is a tip.....if you are caught. make sure you line yourself up with your original desitnation before you try to reenter supercruise otherwise i find you can be pulled back out again by the very same npcs that pulled you in the first place :p.

docking of course at the moment is a bit touch but i found with some trail and error not impossible though adidng a docking computer to auto dock would likely be useful in the future :p.

the actual man difficulty at the moment is some of the near show stopping bugs which i am sure will be addressed in future patches :).

To all the complainers out there saying it's too hard - GET OVER IT!

It's called skill and finding out how to do things properly. If everything is too easy you all are going to complain how boring the game is and you'll be right!

easy = BORING

To the Devs: I understand that you will be trying to make this game for "EVERYONE" but please don't dumb it down to the point where you can master everything in a day.

I like a challenge and I'm sure there are lot's of us out there.

This world of "instant everything"

To all the complainers out there complaining about all the complaining - GET OVER IT!

It's beta - lots of new players. Some want it simpler, most just want to understand it and get better. Why anyone takes offence at or gets infuriated by this baffles me.

Me too.
