To all you player groups UA bombing places like Robigo and Sothis...

I'm just a little confused with the "We own Ceos and Sothis BWAHAHA!" comment.

Ceos certainly seems to be cranky but there's nothing wrong with Sothis, I've run about 30 millions worth from there to the bubble in open today without any trouble at all.

I've only started doing these long range runs in the last couple of days, I'm enjoying it.

He's an XBone player.

I have over 1500 hours in the game. I've been playing since release. I made my first billion bounty hunting and that was well into the end of that first year. The only profit i have made from powerplay was the last week I was in the bubble before heading out to Jaques and then to Beagle Point. In Powerplay I did nothing but fortify outside of a couple of our notorious expansions. I fortified the 50mil and much more every cycle i was there in the bubble and I did that for 51 weeks. I traded up to Tycoon 0% and stopped because I find space trucking to be more boring than mining. Though I eventually will do some means of trade to hit triple elite when i get back.

I am totally not against the UA bombing. I'm for it. If people are having more fun watching the world burn then go for it. it's one of the options you have to choose. If FD doesn't like the direction the players are choosing to go, they can certainly make changes. But cry about it? That just illustrates a lack of understanding what the game is that you're playing. There are no good guys, there are no bad guys. There are no good factions or bad factions. Nobody is innocent. Nobody is safe. There are gradients to these things and all you can do is cater to your own strong points and do what you can.

And yes, sitting in a station and accruing missions until your single jump and dock activity nets you 16 mill is insane / obscene. But yea... if you're measuring 10 hours as significant in a game like ED then you're not playing the right game. It's a multi-year game. Most of the content isn't even available yet. If 10 hours is a lot to you then perhaps you need to rethink what kind of game you're playing. While it may take me days ..sometimes week to accrue 10 hours of gameplay, i still dont see it as significant when i'll be playing 5 years from now.

But as for your question, I try and keep around a couple hundred million in the bank ..just in case. Not usually much more than that because up until this exploration jaunt, i spent all my money on PP fortification. And all my income has come from bounty hunting.

Nice resume, Darth. Sounds like you've had a very well rounded experience in this game. I suspect that is one of the reasons you look at the UA bombing situation the way you do, because you're interests and abilities are more developed than a lot of the people making a mountain out of a moehill.

I share a very similar opinion to the one you've expressed in this quote.

I'm also a billionaire (nearly x2) and I've also got about 1500 hours in game, and that time has been broken up sampling all of the experiences ED has to offer; I've smuggled for hundreds of millions, bounty hunted, and then followed that up with a five month journey to the far side of the galaxy which paid peanuts, returned to the bubble and spent time upgrading engineers & modules for no money at all...and everything in between. My attitude concerning the UA situation is simple: it's a mechanic provided for within the game and there are several good counters to it. Just another reason I love Elite Dangerous.

Blockade the station. Interdiction any one you see in sc and cargo scan them.

I have never said I deliver them in solo

You are just one of the multiple players doing this (or so you say). Others clearly admit to delivering in Solo.

For some reason you seem to believe that you, personally, are somehow relevant to this situation. You are not. You are delusional. Looking for your 15 minutes, aren't we?

You won't get even that, sorry.

Nope, their reasons have been clearly stated, and have nothing to do with lore or any in-game stuff, really. They simply want to cause an uproar. Salt, as they call it. And it worked, apparently. If folks had just shrugged and moved on to another location without all this forum drama, they'd probably have gotten bored and found something else to do. Ironic :)

It gives me something to read while eating lunch, though.

They pulled this crap with Robigo back in the day. No, they know it messes with people, and thus they'll keep doing it.

LOL well put, me too...munch, munch, munch.

Folk always seem to cry about these things but never seem to get off their proverbial behinds to do something about it. The place has been UA bombed accept it and move on, or fix so you can get back to making money.

It's part of the game, a game where we are meant to be self sufficient & organised enough to rally together and fix a problem without having every little thing handed to us, the way Elite is meant to be.
Yes it's inconvenient that these systems can no longer be used to exploit the system by mode switching (something that, in my opinion, should be removed completely) to make multi millions in a single trip. But with a joint community effort you could all fix the system & quite happily cheat the game again...

/mod hat off

you have an interesting definition of grieving.

didn't you bring medicines to sothis, when it was in outbreak state and worked on ending it? why did you spoil my fun of farming pharmaceutical isolators there?

did you run missions for any other faction than sirius corporation there? i invested serious time to get allied with sirius corporation, and you kicked them from controlling the systems, grieving my faction and spoiling my fun...

seriously?

we are playing in a shared galaxy. we should embrace all activities of all players, because it is part of what makes this a great game.

don't like it? get organised and bring meta alloys. don't like a lockdown? go bounty hunting. etc.

or move on.

The difference is, UA bombing is a purely destructive activity. What you describe is supporting a different faction for political change, or delivering cargo for profit. UA bombing has a lot more in common with blowing up players "for teh lulz".

You don't have to mode switch to get a full stack of missions.

PSA:

I do not support the UA bombings. Sothis and Ceos is my emergent content, not theirs. These baddies are just taking my idea of attacking fringe systems from 9 months ago.

If there is no missions at the stations, there is no motivation for players to go there. If there is no motivation for players to go to a system, it is pointless to blockade it. These guys are trying to create emergent content by utilizing clever use of game mechanics, and that's my job.

Therefore, Effective immediately, Ceos has been temporarily removed from the list of systems SDC intends to blockade. If you are intending to deliver Meta Alloys to Ceos, SDC will not interfere as long as you are in Ceos. Expect the blockade to be in full order once station services have been restored.

Well know nothing of the SDCs plans however we can confirm we have delivered 140 UA's to Sothis in past 2 days

Doesn't matter, all players run on the same servers & are subject to the same effects on the BGS no matter what system they run.

Ah, my bad, he had made a comment a while back that seemed to indicate it was different, but I suppose he could have been wrong. In that case one of the systems is very much still alive, though at war.

I was merrily running in and out of Sothis & Ceos in the days leading up to the bombing, and I sure didn't notice anything as effective as a "blockade."

Dammit Nath, why are you never there when I am? I've been in and out of Sothis area over the last couple of days sporting for some fun and.....nothing. :(
Guess it shows how random the instances are.

I was very interested to see how the types of missions being offered has evolved and changed over the last few days, there's blood in the air and pirates or Feds need massacring!

Out of curiosity, once UA bombing closes down a mission board, what effectively happens to the BGS as you can't really see what's happening anymore?

Well for some reason the mission board at ceos hasn't gone, although I've had it confirmed it should have so they're looking into it.

Basically you can't do anything mission wise, can still bounty hunt usually, but the main thing is you need to deliver meta alloys and food

So commodities market stays up?

I guess I was thinking more along the lines of what happens with the local factions during the 'offline' time? Obviously we as players, can't see what missions are being given so is there another way other than Galnet or Galmap and system status?

Just taking a deeper interest in the mechanics of it all really (while my Xbox one is updating - hurrah I can finally turn off the bloody startup / shutdown noise they forced on us during for the summer update. Why MS, WHY??).

Oh, and because I feel like I've missed out on the name calling that's been going on:

You're a scoundrel and a scallywag nathdixon92, and a salty tear slurper to boot! :D

Now, carry on.

or delivering cargo for profit.

last time i was selling UAs at a black market (which was in 1.4. i think, and it was for science) i remenber getting a lot of credits for it. it even added to my blackmarket profits stats i think. did that change?
