I always prefer developers who promise little, talk about the future sparingly and then deliver more than they hyped.
I'm fed up with those who do the exact opposite (looking at you CIG or RSI or whatever they are called this week).
Look at how NMS turned out. Exactly how I said it would but there were those up in arms against me, claiming it would blow ED out of the water when it launched. Well, did it? No, of course not.
The best course of action for FD now is to hype as little as possible, talk only about the things they are absolutely sure are release-worthy and keep on building trust for the future. Not by talking and marketing but working and delivering.
The product should speak for itself. It shouldn't need developers talking it into high heavens.
agree, and there's no doubt elite is actually that one and only first person space-sim that stands out, unrivaled. but, tbh, competition isn't tough at all, if any. aaaand ... we want moar!! because we love it.
however i personally want more of the basic stuff: galaxy environment, core gameplay, bgs. we've had more than enough minigames already. the decline in traction is very evident too. let's hope they do have some cards up their sleeves, or that this is at least no sign of the end of the road being 'dangerously' near. i had cleared my agenda for at least a decade!
